Nice hike

We were horseback riding. There were many Down trees. Hot, humid, still and not fun. Wish we’d skipped it.

great walk! saw a huge bear about 15-20 feet away from me, we smelled each other and guessed what's the other's next move.. ended up alive to tell ;) was amazingly thrilling!

This is a great family friendly trail for all ages. Be sure to bring water shoes, as it is more fun to get up close in the water. I found a few large pieces of clear quartz here, my boyfriend found and attempted to catch a salamander and a snake, and my parents and uncle, his girlfriend, and kids loved the photo ops.

The park ranger called it a green tunnel and green tunnel it was. Moderate traffic especially for MDW. Took a side path to a cascade.

We hiked half of this trail last July. We looked at a map before heading in but 3 hrs and some bee stings later we weren't sure exactly how long the rest of the trail would be. Realizing, now, we should have kept going. We had our 5 kids and they really toughed this one out! (ages 4-14) This trail was beautiful and quite unique. Lots of flowers, mushrooms, and other beautiful foliage. If you're looking for a view, this is not the place to find one. If you want a nice hike while surrounded by nature's best, this is the one!

Great waterfall with a bench.

With most of the National Park closed due to icy conditions, this was one of the few accessible areas. Somehow, we messed this up and ended up just doing a loop of the bypass trail. By the time we realized the mistake we don’t have time to complete the whole loop. Will have to come back one day and do this correctly.

Really nice kid friendly trail

This is a very nice, well maintained trail that passes by three waterfalls. It's actually a well graded forest road in most places with benches to rest. There are a number of places to get into the water.

this trail was great to hike. once you go thru the tunnel & travel straight ahead you will see a couple of trailheads. We took the one at a hard left, Goldmine trail. It was very nice & wide with a gradual descent some parts ascending.just beautiful woodlands the lake is gorgeous should have brought my swimsuit!!. the ascent at the end is a butt kicker because it is long but gratifying when you get to the top. It made for a great day of being out in. nature.

Pleasant walk. Nice spot to swim when you get down to the river.
So many cars parked at the trailhead, but not quite that many people along the trail (would still call it "heavily trafficked " though...)
The up side of the horse manure on the trails was that we got to witness dung beetles creating their little balls of it and pushing them off to their nests !

This was a very easy trail with a close-up view of the falls. The trail is gravel and dirt and is relatively smooth throughout. The falls are spectacular from a footbridge right in front of them,

Simple, easy but, steep. There is a cute little waterfall with a bridge and seat to enjoy the view of the waterfall from.

One of my first trips with my fiance. Loved seeing the waterfall. ❤ Easy to get to. I recommend you wear good tread shoes though. If the ground is wet, it gets very slick!

Hiked this trail back in Feb.on a HIKECATION to Fontana Village Resort. Loved the long tunnel on the Road to Nowhere( Now I can tell people I HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN TO NOWHERE. LOL LOL) Had cell phone reception on parts of this trail that wouldn't have thought I would have gotten in. This is a really great trail, enjoyed the hike lots.

We did the 4.1 mile loop from the parking area near the tunnel. Once we got past the tunnel, the trail was relatively quiet. Lots of mountain laurel, much of it already gone by on May 28. Would be a gorgeous hike in the fall, I think.

If you're looking for views as a payoff, this isn't your hike. Having said that, it's a beautiful hike. Very shaded, lots of flowers, and a nice cemetery at the end of the loop. Also, you very much get a workout if you do the loop (something like 1100 ft in a little over a mile)

Bit of a steep hike... but the waterfall is worth it!

This was my first hike ever in the Smokies and the trek uphill was quite long and strenuous. Almost 2 hrs up and about 1 hr back down. Maybe I'm a little out of shape? Probably. It was a beautiful hike though. There's partial views of the mountains once you reach the top.

This is a nice narrow loop trail. It leads down hill to the lake for about 2.5 miles from the parking lot. After that it goes along the little creek for a bit and then up the hill pretty steep. All in all 4.7 miles from and to the parking lot.

To the point some of the other hikers made, we found the trail to be well marked and easy to follow. Also the trail head is easy to find. Just follow the directions.
