Beautiful and not hard. Mostly full sun exposure, we were happy temperatures were 80. Sunscreen a must. Highly recommend!

Beautiful views!

Absolutely love this trail. I’ve done it 4 times, and it never disappoints. Always gorgeous

Pretty cool hike. Can be cold at the top but the view is very nice

Great hike! Ends up being closer to 9 miles if you do oats peak as well. The oats peak portion is definitely more on the hard side. Pairs well with Coon Creek trail since it's a breeze.

Today we ended up doing the entire Coon Creak trail then climbed Oak Peak Summit. It was such a beautiful hike. It did get really hot towards the peak, so bring a camelback or a Canteen of water. Not much shade at the peak. The views are breathtaking. The Oat Peak is challenging since it is 2 miles upward. The peak ended up being around 110 floors. Enjoy the views!

Challenging hike through lovely terrain. Offers nearly 360 degree view of San Luis Obispo at its highest point.

Long drive but no access.

Trail is only open Thursday thru Monday and has gated access.

Park in small lot adjacent to trailhead. This is an easy to moderate hike depending on trails you follow. You can make as difficult as you want by going uphill faster or slower, a lot of it is through sand trail. I started at 4 and it was warm but there was a breeze which kept it cool. Bugs can be a problem, suggest repellent.

I put 3 because I can’t exactly rate a trail I couldn’t even find. Do not follow directions from this app. It takes you to a youth camp. My Husband and I drove back and forth for nearly an hour trying to find any sign of a trail and there was nothing but private properties and the youth camp. We ended up going to Lopez Lake where we finally found the trail but it was also difficult to find there. We followed the camp map and ended up at a closed off road when we should have been able to keep going (according to camp map). So I’m assuming maybe it’s closed? We settled for a trail that didn’t seem nearly as fun as this one would have been.

Started the trail at the end of the road through the campground. A bit more challenging than moderate but some easy parts too. Didn’t finish the full loop since seeing a deer leg carcass and concerned of coming across a mountain lion or bear and was running alone. Ranger warned the campers that there are bears.

This an moderate hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast and some Pacific Ocean. This hike is well worth doing, best in the spring when everything is blooming and it is not too hot, it was foggy on this particular day over the coast so could not see Morro Bay. This trail has both ticks and Poison oak as hazards if you get too close to the sides or go off trail. Rattlesnakes are very common here and warnings are out for Mountain Lions.
Ran into the Laguna Junior High Cross country team towards the end which was a shocker as I had the trail all to myself until I heard them coming! Narrow trail makes that more difficult.

This trail was very clean and wide at sections. You are deceived at first by a big mountain that is just the small peak before the actual Valencia peak. make sure to bring hiking poles, slippery on the way down.

Did this trail today and it’s only 2 miles up and back to the top where the bell is. Elevation Gail is 1,152. It’s a mile of UP! Coming down is no joke be careful or you will end up on your a$$. But incredible views at the top.

This was a decent hike. It was mainly foggy, so we didn’t get a chance to see the “nice” scenery. We started at 8am though, so you may want to wait until the fog lifts to actually enjoy it. The incline was fairly decent. We hiked next to a tower too, so we were able to access the Wi-Fi on our phones. Pretty chill hike!

Nice trail - better in winter as it doesn’t have much shade

Great easy hike with beautiful scenery!

Ticks! I was on the trail for 10 min and I pass a fisherman who was carrying his dog back to his car, he said he just pulled 20 ticks off his dog. I looked down at my legs and I had about 10 on me and 20+ on my dog!

Loved this trail. It was a good workout with the reward of stunning views. Would definitely recommend!

BEST local hike for a quick, butt-kicking workout!

Beautiful view from the trail. This trail is rated moderate. I hate to see what hard is. Take lots of water and enjoy the scenery. We are beginners so It was hard for us but we were able to conquer it. I would recommend this.

Started from the small parking lot at the trail marked “exercise trail” it was fun but not marked well. The view from the top is amazing!

nice trail up and down. well marked.the entire loop will take you through the campgrounds so be prepared for a great view of campers and a water park and an adventure Park with zip lines. the trail itself was mostly uninhabited with nice views of the lake and the Eastern side of the hills with vineyards. my advice: don't take the loop back by the campgrounds go up to high ridge, take in the cool views, and just turn around and head back.

Best views in town!

Great, peaceful walk that can be shortened by driving to close to top. Great for showing family and friends views of Morro Bay.
