Absolutely love this trail. I’ve done it 4 times, and it never disappoints. Always gorgeous

fun trail to do. Parking is very tiny only like 4 spots and one handicap spot. The hike is very nice. You can see the ocean and fields. The incline is a little hard but I did it just fine it's probably about 200 yards or less. I would recommend it to active adults and kids 5+. will do again

Great hike today. Wide trails

Great trail with incredible views! Started on the Avila Beach side and the hike goes over to Shell Beach. Cool little surprise at the tree swings. The views and trees up here are just incredibly. The beauty is unsurpassed. The initial 1-2 miles are incredibly steep and then it evens out along the ridge. I saw many day hikers just doing this in normal athletic shoes but I wore my hiking boots and I’m glad I did. It’s a dog friendly trail as well and pretty heavily trafficked.

This trail is moderate probably only because of the incline. But beginner to moderate would be more accurate. The trail is clearly maintained and is more like a dirt service road. After a short but steep hike you are greeted with one of the better views I have seen on the central coast. On a good day you can see from San Luis bay to the pismo dunes. Well worth it

Good hike, my 13 year old dog was able to reach the tippy top with me. We went clockwise and were bombarded with high noon sun... hike would have been a little easier if it weren’t for the heat (still not too bad, late October). The hike down was mostly shade.

Moderate hike with panoramic views. Great for a morning activity before lunch. Trail well maintained.

Good hike, I’m feeling the leg soreness and shin splints two days later... Incline the entire way up but didn’t seem bad if you pace yourself and take breaks. Parking sucks. Sycamore Springs is a pretty pretentious place and absolutely does monitor who parks there. They told me to go to the Bob Jones lot which added at least 30 minutes to the overall hike. I think I spent a total of a 1.5-2 hrs for the hike from the parking lot to the top of hill, and making the loop back down. I did take some breaks for my 14 yr old dog and hid a couple of geocaches as well. I did not like the part of the hike where you have to walk through the resort property... weird.

Best views are at the very beginning then it’s not very exciting after that.

Challenging hike through lovely terrain. Offers nearly 360 degree view of San Luis Obispo at its highest point.

Great for kids and dogs. Awesome views!

Fantastic hike! It is steep the entire way up, but extremely rewarding once you reach the top! Bring water!

Beautiful hike with rewarding vistas! Fun to explore the boulders at the summit.

Park in small street adjacent to trailhead. This is an easy to moderate hike depending on trails you follow. You can make as difficult as you want by going uphill to the ridge but it is all rock. I started at 4 and it was warm but there was a breeze which kept it cool. You would really want rock boots for the ridge part of this trail, it is all rock. The back side of trail, to the south, is all construction of a new housing tract so this part of the trail is not a pretty one for half of it. Of the trails I have done in San Luis Obispo, this is the least maintained.

Park in small lot at end of Cave Landing Road. This is an easy hike which you can make as difficult as you want by going uphill from Pirates Cove. Tide was high so I did not go down onto beach. People were camping inside the cave which is not legal but they did not bother me. There was no wind so it was going to get how there in afternoon. This is a great hike to start out your day.

Nice

Great views. Tough at the top with the optional rock climbing, but worth it.

Started from Patricia drive. It was a steady uphill climb from the start. I'm 51, overweight, but still managed to get to the very top on the rocks overlooking the entire area. My hikes are mostly on flat land in Austin area so this was a bit challenging. I'd rate Bishop difficulty a 5 to Cerro San Luis 3. The 20 somethings I was with had little difficulty. Once on top, it was a worth it. Surreal views of the area were incredible! Highly recommended. As others mentioned, watch out for Poison Oak and the climb was a bit on the rocky side. I have partially torn tendons in the right foot so just had to pay close attention to each step.

This an moderate hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast and some Pacific Ocean. This hike is well worth doing, best in the spring when everything is blooming and it is not too hot, it was foggy on this particular day over the coast so could not see Morro Bay. This trail has both ticks and Poison oak as hazards if you get too close to the sides or go off trail. Rattlesnakes are very common here and warnings are out for Mountain Lions.
Ran into the Laguna Junior High Cross country team towards the end which was a shocker as I had the trail all to myself until I heard them coming! Narrow trail makes that more difficult.

Mostly doing flat land trails in Austin this is fantastic change. Beautiful views all the way up, if no marine layer obviously. I've seen folks from 6 to 86 on this trail. As a side note, I lost my wallet on the trail. After realizing later, we went back and found it by a billboard fully intact. Folks here are top notch. As a plus, multiple breweries within 2 miles once you're done. Enjoy!

Bishop Peak Trail from Highland Drive is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast. This hike of Bishop Peak Trail from Highland Drive is well worth doing, great all year long, maybe not so much in rainy season. This video was shot in the summer so very little of both ticks and Poison oak as hazards if you don't get too close to the sides or go off trail. Lots of wildlife if you look for it, mostly squirrels and rabbits so hawks can always be present.

Cerro San Luis is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast, this is easily the busiest trail in the area so be prepared for hikers, runners and bikers. This hike of Cerro San Luis is well worth doing, best in the spring when everything is blooming and it is not too hot. This trail can have both ticks and Poison Oak as hazards if you get too close to the sides or go off trail.

The Los Osos Oaks State Reserve is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast at a few places, but most of the time you are under beautiful oaks. The Bishop's Peak Felsman Loop is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast. This hike of of the Eastern side of Bishop's Peak is well worth doing, great all year long, maybe not so much in rainy season. This video was shot in the summer so very little of both ticks and Poison oak as hazards if you don't get too close to the sides or go off trail. Lots of wildlife if you look for it, mostly squirrels and rabbits so hawks can always be present. This is a prime horse trail so you will encounter horses at any time. Also, there are cows and turkeys around.

So the heading is incorrect for these two hikes and I sent in a correction. The map for the hike starts out from PAtricia Drive not Highland. The other Bishop's Peak Trail starts from Highland.

Such a good hike and great 360 views up top. Go early to avoid crowds and heat.

Such a fun trail! Great views at the top, and lots of fun things to play on. I had to keep an eye out for mountain bikers, but they were very respectful in sharing the trails. Its not too strenuous, but still enough to feel like you got a workout. I really enjoyed this loop.

Good hike not hard the elevation gain is spread out over two miles. It was overcast the day I hiked so I didn’t have much of a view from the top.

Did this trail today and it’s only 2 miles up and back to the top where the bell is. Elevation Gail is 1,152. It’s a mile of UP! Coming down is no joke be careful or you will end up on your a$$. But incredible views at the top.
