Getting out and back through the mud was a little tough, but the hike was totally worth it. Icicles hung from every cliff, and it was fun exploring in the ice and snow. I imagine that during the summer months it is just as beautiful.
beautiful! plenty of snow!
Beautiful trail that parallels the river and huge rock cliffs most of the way. This cold (30 degrees) day we only passed one family on the trail. There were multiple run - off waterfalls. There were several muddy spots and many fallen trees that required climbing over or under. Also, there were multiple rocks and roots to maneuver around, making me glad to have my hiking poles along for stability. There were several creek crossings, which could easily be done without getting wet. At about the .7 mile point the AllTrails app suggests that you take a small trail on the right rather than the more obvious large trail straight ahead. Either trail will get you to the falls as they Eventually meet up however, the larger trail is more challenging (climbing rather steep slick muddy areas). Make sure to continue past the narrow high falls as the main falls is only .2 miles beyond. It is beautiful and on a nice day one can even walk behind the falls or swim at the pool at the base.
It is Terrific hike, would have given it 6 starts of I could. There are lots of waterfalls and a tunnel. Watch my video at https://rumble.com/vdovl3-sipsey-river-trail.html
The trail was in good condition despite it having rained last night. The hike along Brushy Creek was gorgeous and the little waterfalls along the way were lovely. Of course the Sougahoagdee Falls themselves were spectacular.
Amazing!! A nice mostly easy trail with lots of waterfalls and even a cave you must crawl thru to the other side but nothing scary. A few scrambles and slippery spots. We loved it!!!
Really cool. Lots of waterfalls, a rock cave that the trail goes through, stream crossings. Very cool.
Excellent trail! So much fun for young hikers.
It was a very nice hike. The trails were pretty well maintained. The big falls at the end is worth the hike in there. FYI, I tracked our hike in and back out at 5.4 miles with OnX hunting app.
Beautiful trail. We saw 5 or 6 "small" waterfalls along the way then the stunning one at the end. Trail had a lot of trees across it, some that had to be straddled to get over. One very steep incline, so we took the alternate trail closer to the creek on the way back. Signal is sketchy to non-existent, and my recording only worked for one way, the trip out.
Beautiful trail. With the exception of one up and over a ravine, the trail kept you alongside the creek all the way to the falls. The trail was easy to see. No bushwhacking required. We will be back to take this one again.
