We did this 20 mile loop, counter clockwise, in one day. It was a long day (took us about 9.5 hours to complete) but definitely doable.

We were surprised to see lots of cows grazing around Bell Meadow and near Grouse Lake as well. Just a heads up as we were a bit startled the first time we came across them. We saw lots of mosquitos as Grouse, but the rest of the trail was pretty free of them.

We also struggled with trail markers after about the 7th mile out. We got a little turned around on our way back, at around mile 14. The trail is very dry and dusty this time of year, but the sky was clear (no smoke!) and the scenery is truly breathtaking.

It was a nice trek. Less crowd then the north grove

Great trail that is basically straight up to a beautiful little lake. Awesome for cardio or getting into zone 4 quickly. We did it with our 8yr old and 4yr old. The younger needed a few breaks but was really pumped when she finally made it! Footwear wise, I did it in Chacos and a lot of folks were in sneaks. If you're going to wear boots make sure they're broken in. Up and down is what breeds blisters with new boots.

This place has been added as one of my favorite hikes, it is so secluded and breathtaking. To see this Lake was amazing and hearing the water boil and seeing steam come from the water blew my mind! Water temperature is about 125 degrees. Totally worth checking out, so much beauty to see and it isn’t a very popular spot which is so surprising but I guess that’s a good thing:)

The lakes and creeks were teeming with mosquitoes. Even with deet and smokey campfires, I got about fifty bites, mostly near the creek crossing where we camped around mile 6.

Gem lake (10mi) was free of mosquitoes around 1pm and was lovely to swim in. I expect it would have been a nice place to camp without getting eaten so badly.

Grouse Lake (15mi) was also not too bad, but still not great.

Lots of horse poop on the trail.

Beautiful trail! It is perfect for the dogs. It is a bit dusty but overall very fun. It’s flat which is great for an easy going hike.

Amazeballs scenery, awesomeness walking trail, and super duper scary flume bridges. I conquered my fear of heights! How do people do this with kids?!

Wow, you have to see the big trees to take in their enormity. Breathtaking! Great hike, take your bug spray.

Pretty hike but lots of mosquitos, my sister and I got eaten alive towards the end of the hike.

Parts of the trails were misleading. But overall it has beautiful scenery with some wildlife added to the trip. The hike is for sure over 6.7 miles. Also you need to be aware of some rock climbing involved. Overall I would recommend nice trail.

Lovely trail with beautiful spots to swim!
Remember to bring lots of water.

Smoke shortened the hike and ruined the views, but was great otherwise. Be careful - very easy to get messed up with many unmarked trails crossing.

Was rather smokey when we started, but got better later in the morning. Challenging, but the worth the trek. Great view from the top!

It was my kids first time riding their bikes on a dirt trail. This was perfect! We even picked some juicy blackberries along the way. The trail was nice and smooth.

Even in late summer with little flowing water the pools and vistas make the hike more than worthwhile!

Wonderful trail for all experience levels. Some friends and I went on a two night backpacking trip this past weekend and enjoyed the scenery regardless of the smoke from the fires nearby. Hope to go again soon when fire season is over.

Awesome hike and very scenic!

California Conservation Corps help rebuild this trail and rock steps !! ⚒

Do the whole loop around the lake. The view from the opposite side includes Mt. Lassen.

First time hiking in Pinecrest and I absolutely loved Cleos bath trail. It's not too clearly marked in some areas, you can lose the trail. Some people are nice enough to spray paint arrows but they are fading. The swimming hole at the top is the best part of the hike!

We actually went on this trail two days in a row, and parked at the Valley View drive parking lot both times. The first day we intended to reach Cougar Rock and Top of the World. However, we took a left on the ART instead of a right, so instead we got some beautiful forest. The next day, we took a right on the ART and got to those destinations.

Top of the world is not clearly marked but it should be evident once you get to the top of a hill after climbing switchbacks with little blocking foliage.

There were a fair number of insects—most harmless flies, but some mosquitoes as well. I highly recommend insect repellent

Fabulous hike, about 5 hours round trip. Easiest route up Leavitt on SE flank, just north of the snowfield (don't cross it).

Fun hike with a cool late at the end. Hike is steep like everyone says but it's not terrible. The "lakes" are just one lake right now as the water is high and connects the two little lakes. We took a break and swam for an hour, great way to cool off. Right before the lake don't miss all the green grass where the stream comes right out of the ground and goes all the way down past the parking lot, very cool to see right where it starts, especially since you can see right where it comes out of the ground!

Well marked trails and well maintained, lots of points of entry.

great hike, a few snow fields to cross but nothing serious. very beautiful alpine environment

Great summer hike! Rough at times but the swimming hole in the end made it very rewarding.

One of the best I’ve done yet. The reward at the end is awesome. Trail needs a improvement in some areas. Almost lost the trail in certain areas but over all is a great trail.

Beautiful views, easy/ moderate
