Rain and hail so be prepared

Challenging in the heat, but worth it for the views.

Amazing traill and beautiful but the mosquitoes were relentless. Even spraying up every fifteen minutes they would bite you. It was constant which explains why we had the lake we were at to ourselves which was breathtaking. The road there should be driven by an SUV. I appreciated being in a four wheel drive even though I didn’t use it. Had to drive around the long way from Dinky Creek Campground since road and bridge still out on the short route. We did get a bit lost but it was mostly user error and it was marked ok. The trails are also poorly marked so plan on doing some extra hiking to find your way but it is also why you get solatude and wake up to a lake all to yourself. Fly fishing seemed like it would have been successful since the trout were jumping all over the lake eating the plethora of mosquitos.

Even though the weather forecasted high of 73, definitely felt like 85 with the strong sun. Don’t let the weather’s temperature fool you. Roundtrip 7 miles from Big Meadow trailhead. Lots of horse poo on the trail so beware. Either go with long sleeves/pants or wear repellent because you will get bit. Steep climbing up but manageable. There were quite a bit of people on the trail but nothing too crazy. Definitely recommend either taking a lightweight chair or hammock to rest while @ the lake. Be sure to take water shoes/sandals if you’re planning on getting in. Water was cool not cold, great to jump into.

Easy hike. Took the fam, 3 kids ages 8 and 9 and the grandma. Beautiful view at the end.

Great walk...dusty trail....beautiful views

short, easy and lots of rocks to climb over! We went with a 3 year old and she loved the rock climbing! and the pools are amazing!

Great hike, my wife and I both enjoyed it. We started off on Cedar Valley Dr. Point and hiked all the way up to the water fall.

This place is amazing we whent swimming and took a small walk. The water is so close to the parking lot you don’t have to walk like 3 miles to get to the waterfalls. I love this place. Please pick up after yourself.

Short walk. Only .2 from the sign to the stump. Pretty cool! Great for dogs

Great hike. My friend, who is just getting into hiking, did this hike yesterday just for the day! We made it to the lake in an hour and a half, taking little rest stops here and there. We stayed by the lake for a couple of hours and then headed back down! I recommend hiking early in the morning, at least during these summer months, because it definitely makes a difference! Lots of wild flowers and butterflies! Beautiful. Great workout!

I kept saying to myself why would I ever leave Ca! World class scenery and cool water to keep you going! Bring water it gets hot!

Awesome waterfalls and swimming holes! Challenging hike if u push we lolligagged and took time to swim and smell the foliage!

Beautiful hike, waterfalls and fresh cool water!

Said this was a private property trail? We went on july 1st and it was really hot. We were scared there wasn't going to be any water because the canal that you walk over was empty for the first 2 miles. Thankfully the river appears near the end and the waterfall section was coool. We went for a dip and cooled off. good times!

Love this trail

The trail was really easy to find. It was beautiful and totally work the trip.

You can park at the bottom and walk from there or drive up the dirt road and start at the little bridge.

Beautiful scenery! But the trail was incredibly tough to follow! I even downloaded the map from here and we were zig zagging like crazy and climbing over giant rocks trying to find it. So if you’re into creating your own adventure, this is the hike for you! Otherwise, I’d suggest finding another trail. We saw a coyote (at least that’s what we think it was) on the trail and decided to turn back early. There weren’t many people on the trail and it made us a little nervous.

Follow the directions from other reviewers on how to get to the trail head (there is no sign), but it’s at the gravel parking lot at the back of China Peak. There are a couple of trash cans and a wooden pole to mark the start. Even if you don’t make it the whole trail, it’s gorgeous and you see some of the pools very early on! Great weather, too. Hiked on 7/1/18.

The waterfall was really cool and the view was great

Not many hills and lots of shade. Great hike.

***Bring Mosquito Repellant or wear long sleeves.
Pretty steep in some places.
Can be muddy.
Trail can be difficult to follow.
Amazing views. Especially on the way back.
Gorgeous waterfalls.
Rapid current.

Have been using this trail for 18 years because it is dog friendly and worth every bit of the climb to Weaver Lake. Our GPS recorded 7.6 miles from the trailhead at Big Meadow to Weaver Lake and just over 1250 feet of elevation change.
