Great trail, overlaps with Scotsman’s loop part of the way so don’t get confused by the signage-easy access via short path from the High Point parking lot (noticed a lot of 420 in that lot). Good trail in winter as most of the snow had melted

This trail has a good view of the entire landscape but it’s so plain that it doesn’t challenge me at all. I love it here when I need to walk with my baby boomer relatives or my lazy dog.

January 21st, must wear spikes and bring poles! Dress warm! It’s fantastic!

This isn’t for beginners, but I did it! I almost died. Ha! Just kidding. Very steep but it’s worth the trip. The views are majestic let alone the physical challenge it brings is exceptional. I’ll definitely be back here this summer when I visit COS.

Fairly flat so not much of a workout but def pretty. Could be good for mom/dad and also Pam - no cliff faces. You see 14er pikes peak for much of it, set against the foreground of red rock formations

Great hike. I live nearby and still take some wrong turns. Nice scenery, shaded part of the way.

We visited Dawson's Butte and completed the 5.0 mile trail loop on January 13th. What a beautiful hike and so much fun for snowshoeing! We will definitely be back during the spring and again in the fall.

All snow, a little muddy but the trail is lined out perfect. Great afternoon hike. 1/52

Definitely I tough hike if your not used to elevation- probably not smart to fly in from Texas on 3 hours sleep and go directly to the hike. Considering all of that I made it 1.3 miles ( approximately 1700 steps) before deciding to be smart and take the 1st trail down. My stomach was jacked and my heart was pounding even though my pulse was not that high. Lesson learned - get in a few days early to acclimate, hydrate, and try it again. I still had a great hike and really enjoyed the views and light snow. On a positive note I did bring water, microspikes, and proper clothing

Note: went back today and made it up with no altitude issues. I will make this hike whenever I am in town - great workout

Great trail for the pup. Boots work as there is currently no packed snow or ice, yet. Few markings along the trail, but it is well worn most of the way, cell service throughout the park so you can use the app when you hit a few unlabeled trail connections. Area nearest Hewlett Packard had the best views of the Front Range and Pikes Peak.

Went on Saturday at 9:30 am. There were four cars in the parking lot. I imagine in summer it is a bit more crowded. There was more snow then expected. Two people had gone before me on the trail with snow shoes so I was able to follow. I did not have snow shoes so was glad they cut the trail.
North side you can hear the cars from Tomah Road, but you are not walking right on the road, stil a little break between them. The trail is rolling hills and most pleasant views. The snow made it a bit magical.

man what a workout but worth it. icy would suggest using spikes.

Great challenge for anyone. Scenic views. Well trafficked but not over crowded.

This is a fun hike to do with the kids. It isn’t easy but our two little ones can still manage MOSTLY on their own. There are a couple places where you may need to spot the kids if they are young like mine (5,6) due to needing three-points of contact at a drop-off. The views are great and there is plenty of room at the summit to enjoy a picnic. The dogs can manage well too. We’ve done this hike twice because we enjoyed it so much.

Excellent hike that had me peeling layers as I gained elevation. Heavy snowfall was nicely compressed by the hundred or so people who must’ve gone before me. Couple of spots were slick and required three points of contact due to ice, rocks, narrow trail, and steep canyon sides. Not too many people out. Great views along nearly the entire trail. Agree that this is on the easy side of ‘moderate.’

Beautiful formations and quite low-key.

Drove the hour + from Denver to check this place out. Very cool rock formations, some of which are very delicate. More delicate than they look. Spectacular colors and crevasses.

Was sad and upsetting and actually nauseating to see a large group of tourists going off trail, climbing all over the rock formations. With Absolutely no regard to the signs prohibiting climbing. Absolutely no regard for the delicate formations, some of which are just clay and literally shatters off the sides. This place won't be around much longer with such disrespect for the rock formations happening daily it seems, so catch it while you can (on the path, not on the rocks).

Beautiful hike, but difficult for sure (its all inclined). It was so slippery, we had to slide back down almost the whole way. The only reason I give it a 4 star & not 5 is because you cannot hardly tell where the right trail is. We ended up going off trail & freestyling up for a good 20min of steep shrub & gravel. I will do it again when its nicer outside. :)

Nice views, not much traffic. You can see all the way down to Pueblo resivior from the top. Quite a bit of walking thru snow this time of year.

2nd time back and a little less rough but still very challenging. The final 200 steps are icy and spikes would be ideal but I did it without them.

Awesome trail and a great workout!!

Very challenging hike....risk vs reward on this hike questionable (especially this time of year). Not well marked, scree, ice....etc. Pick another hike in Colorado....no shortage of awesome/safe hikes.

Great hike with excellent views at the top. Somewhat icy the first third of the trail, but I hiked it in tennis shoes and was alright.

My favorite since even before it was ever open !

Great trail! Easy hike! Possibility to go off main trail with no signs/markings and many social trails. Since I had it on record I could see when I edged off the trail. Great views. I went clockwise on the loop. Next time will do the hike in the evening going counterclockwise in attempt to catch a ‘sunset’ on the upper ridge coming back to parking lot.

LEG WORKOUT! So so worth it! Feels very rewarding to have completed this one.
