Beautiful hike! Make sure to do the little steep out and back section to the campgrounds. It was very lush and green with all the fern.

Great views from atop Redhill, but we did miss the right hand turn and walked through the forest then looped back around to find our error. No signs, just a small Cairn. The best views are stop Redhill. We then continued on to Pomo and the small campgrounds. Turned back and did the bottom loop which doesn’t have the views like the top section. 12 kms all up, from Shell Beach Trail head. It’s a good work out too.

love this historically significant trail. Learned a lot about Jack London, a prolific writer who became a sustainable farmer and this was his estate.

Beautiful, easy hike for a Fall day.

nice easy trail with great views. . .

Beautiful overlook and well maintained trails. It is a popular spot to visit with lots of parking.

A great trail! lots of variations in the terrain. the views were amazing and was perfect with some up hill and down hills. will do this one again maybe running it. 6.7 mile loop.

We parked on willow creek road and hiked up Pomo canyon and back which was awesome. We hiked up through the redwoods, through the golden valley to enjoy vistas of the ocean as we neared Shell Beach. We stopped off at the rock overlook and enjoyed some snacks before heading back the way we came. Next time we’ll check out Red Hill; it was getting close to sunset so we stayed on what we knew to ensure we hiked out with plenty of light.

Beautiful easy trail. Wonderful views.

Good workout, we went counterclockwise and took a left up before the little cement house (trail not on all-trails map) to middle fire road and then connect with the rest of the loop, went out the fire road for a view and lunch. Total was 6.3 miles

Taylor Mountain is practically my gym. I use this trail as a fantastic cardio workout after work, as it really only takes about an hour as a moderate pace (trail running, not just hiking) and the vertical gain is quite intense for what is offered around. Once you hit the right spot, its about a thousand feet climbing steep grade with not much break at all. The views at the top are quite nice, as you get a view of both the Santa Rosa area as well as the Kenwood areas around back. Be ready to run into people, as this trail is generally fairly populated, and bring lots of water as there is none on the trail and shade is quite minimal. Overall a fantastic quick hike to add to every wish list!

nice but steep at the front

Nice hike! Awesome view! My husband and I did it last week

Beautiful beautiful beach and great hiking trails!!

Nice loop with well marked trail

This is a pretty good hike. A mix of natural beauty and history is a sure win for the kids. We started at Jack London's cottage which was really cool then we made our way to pigs palace and the lake. The way to the man made lake is a wide trail that runs along Jack's vineyard and eucalyptus project. It turns into a steep grade among the redwood groves. I wish I read more of the reviews because we were expecting more of the lake or whatever's left of it. I spoke to some of the locals and they said that the dam has been broken for awhile thats why the water level hasn't gone up. All in all it was a good experience, we will plan to come back to check out the wolf house and the rest of the other trails.

Good climb.

Nice trail lots of shade not too steep and very safe even OK for the older kids

Great hike with some beautiful views and you end in a redwood grove. They closed the trail while we were on it and must have been doing some storm damage clean up but we were able to go straight through without any issues.

Great hike!

Good views from the top. More moderate than we have expected.

We started at 1:30 and were done by 4:45. What a great hike and absolutely breathtaking nature! Hot sunny day and shady paths. Visiting Jack London’s Cottage was like a trip to the past; his office and books can be viewed along with some eclectic artwork and music playing from his days. Very Magical! The paths are not too difficult but a fairly good work-out if your walking. One of the best places to adventure to. Upon leaving today, the event taking place was Broadway Under The Stars; which I had been to before a long time ago.

Great hike but grueling! Be warned, this is 5.8 miles and 1600+ ft gain, not what is advertised on All Trails nor on the park map! The Park map says this loop is 1100 ft gain and 5.6 miles. That additional unadvertised 500 ft gain is REAL. The ascent is quite steep for the first 2.5-3 miles without much letting up. I made the mistake of starting the hike with only about 2 hours of solid daylight left, thinking I was in for only an 1100 ft gain, and I had to hoof it really the whole way and made it back within 2 hrs and 15 minutes. I'd say this is more of a day hike than a quick jaunt, entirely due to the ascent. That said, if you are looking for an intense quick jaunt that will really test your stamina, this is your ticket. The views at the top are worth a great rest for a snack, some pics, and regrouping. I didn’t have time to do a real break, due to the waning daylight, but got some great shots before booking it back down.

Paul is spot on - you need to pay attention to the map or you could easily end up off the main trail. Strava GPS read 8.1 miles at the trail end/Armstrong tree. A great hike.

If you stay on the main trail it’s an easy walk/run. I love it.

GREAT TRAIL. ENJOYABLE THINGS TO LOOK AT. WOULD HIKE AGAIN.

One of the most beautiful trails, I started in the free parking lot outside of the park behind the bathrooms, it was a steady up hill but not to to bad but a great workout with few people on the trail, but the way down is where the beauty of the trail comes into view.

There are lots of trails off the main trail so keep a close eye on your map.
When you get to the top you have 5 different choices but the AllTrails map only shows 3.
I will return here is was fun
