Hiked 1/13/2019. Trail was pretty muddy

In this side of the park, Alberta Falls is the entrance location to most trails. It’s very pretty, but there’s definitely a lot of foot traffic.

Whenever I go hiking, I zoom right by because there’s always so many people. The further back you get into the mountains, there’s (obviously) less and less people.

Beautiful short hike when you're tired from longer or higher hikes.

Nice and easy hike around the lake with beautiful views. We did ours on 12/27 while it was -12C around 10:30 am. It was super cold and windy. We saw people skating and walking on the lake, which was frozen. Good option for kids.

Great beginning trail for snowshoeing! We went from the Bear Lake trailhead to make the trip a little longer, and it was beautiful and peaceful!

Waterfall is currently iced up and slow flowing. Not one of the most exciting destinations to visit amongst the Rocky Mountain trails. Would recommend traversing past and head over to Mills Lake.

Beautiful even in snow-packed conditions. The falls are mostly frozen over right now, but there’s lots of easy trails in the area. Good grips on shoes (or traction clamps for shoes) would have made it easier, but still fun! And dress warm!!!

10/28/18

maybe horses hadn't been on the trail in a while and we got lucky, but horse poop was not a problem, lol. we took a 4 year old to complete his rocky mountain junior ranger badge on this and it was perfect. it was a beautiful hike through meadows and woods, and with beautiful views. I highly recommend this hike for small children.

Very slippery in winter, wear good shoes with grip. Husband slipped three times. Beautiful falls.

Hiked the road on 10/27/18 as it was closed to vehicles. Needless to say it was a calve killer but worth it!

A great path walk/hike for families or people coming from a low altitude. We easily took our BOB double stroller because the path is paved and wide enough not to bother people with it. We had a great time watching baby beavers in the lake and throwing snowballs while walking. A great warm up to the bigger hikes in RMNP. Lots of parking and not too busy.

Arrived at 8am to a mostly empty parking lot on a chilly morning. Started the traverse around the lake with a very close encounter with a pair of moose! My 4 year old really enjoyed the lily ridge trail with endless climbing opportunities right off the main path....we spent almost 2 hours going off trail and had a blast. Enjoyed Lily Lake more than Bear Lake or Sprague Lake because of the variety offered by the lily ridge trail. Highly recommended if you have young kids.

Added it on to the Mt. Sanitas loop to make the hike longer (4 1/2 total). Nice way to start. Parking lot had plenty of space at 8 am.

Not really a hike, but still worth the short walk around the lake for the amazing views. We got some great photos of three moose taking a stroll through the lake during our walk on June 27, 2018.

Great introductory trail to RMNP. Easy for all ages and abilities.

Nice trail for a leisurely stroll. Super short but beautiful at the top. Great for a short morning walk. Kid-friendly!

We drove to the small parking lot by the falls. Very short hike but it is steep. That being said I saw an 80 year old man in his orthotics making the trek. The falls are beautiful! Old Fall river Road is about 9 miles and is a one way road. It has sharp switchbacks and very deep ruts. I mean DEEP. If you are skilled enough to navigate on top of the ruts a car could make it but if not you will bottom it out and be stuck. The SUV in front of me actually attempted to drive in the ruts instead of on top and bottomed out immediately. Luckily he drove in instead of falling in so was able to spin his tires and back out and attempt again. If you don't want to risk it park at the picnic area and hike up.

Took the shuttle from the park and ride to the Glacier Gorge trailhead then up to the falls. The hike was good not too difficult. There were a handful of people on the trail then lots at the falls. Several people taking family photos and others having picnics.

This is one of my least favorite hikes in the park. They’re all so gorgeous & the falls are a little underwhelming in comparison

Hiked to Alberta Falls from Bear Lake. Very well maintained trail. The falls themselves were decent. Continued on to Loch Vale and Timberline Falls afterwards.

Nice short hike, we went up the rocks to get to the top and hiked around the rocks for a while. Perfect for pictures! The rocks are gorgeous. Nice hike for being so close to town. Surprisingly, we only ran in to one person while we hiked the whole time. Good workout! Not for elderly or overweight for sure!
