Short sweet hike with rewarding views at the top!

If it weren’t for AllTrails, I wouldn’t even known of this waterfall. There are no signs at the trailhead but finding it was fairly simple. There are wooden stumps blocking a makeshift campsite on the side of FS90 which the trail is on the right. The trail to the waterfall viewpoint is extremely small and easy but the view is obstructed from tree limbs so not the greatest picture taking place. There is a faint trail just down from viewpoint that leads to the bottom of the falls but it is not for everyone. Be extremely cautious.

pretty n easy

This is a great, little hike. But be prepared.
There are two sections. The upper section goes to the viewing platform and is a 1-2 minute walk down a moderate hill. That's the part that's super kid and dog friendly.
The second section is very steep and a little tricky. It's not a difficult hike if you are experienced, but you're climbing up/down using root systems and a couple of ropes (left by hikers) as anchors. It requires a lot of focus (so I don't suggest bringing a dog) because a misstep means an injury. Be sure to wear traction boots on the second trail. A woman fell and badly broke her leg whie we were there and had to be rescued.
The falls are definitely worth the effort. Just be sure to take care. Oh, and the two trails aren't marked Upper and Lower, so pay attention and make sure you're where you want to be.

Trail in decent shape, dusty in mid-August. Trail is unrelentingly uphill, but beautiful at the top. Nice views of the river and Dog Mountain. The sacred nature of the space at the top was a nice surprise to me and made it more memorable than it might have otherwise been.

Such a nice hike, really love this one.

Falls are spectacular but the trail is so hard to find. Once you do it's an easy trail down to the platform. Lots of of shoot trails are closed because of erosion. All but a few respected the boundaries. The parking/pull of is wide and identified by a rocky slope. The trail blends into the forest right from the shoulder of the road across the parking lot.

Nice shading, good to see some wildlife. It is short, going around the entire thing is about 2 miles. Trails get super narrow. I came around 2:00pm on a Saturday and there was little to no one around, so very peaceful.

Pretty waterfall if you just want to go for a photo.

Saw ducks, blue herons, cranes, hawks, several varieties of small birds, deer and nutria. The four hundred year old oaks are amazing.

Mira, your post is irresponsible. The four people who died in the last two years on this 500 foot long trail were all very careful. It is slippery, steep and very dangerous. We should honor the postings that the area is closed. With that said, the overlook is open and there are some nice photo opportunities at the top.

Almost didn’t go because the reviews said the trail is closed. Yes there is a piece of paper that says something along the lines of “this is not a trail, this is dangerous” but if you ignore that sign and take the very steep and dangerous trail WITH CAUTION, it puts you out at the bottom of the falls and it definitely worth it.

The short trail to the falls overlook is open and the falls are beautiful; the rest of the trail was closed.

We hiked Wind mountain while vacationing in Stevenson, Wa. We started out near sunset and were rewarded with breathtaking views of the gorge. We chose to do wind mountain as a prep for our big hike the next day (dog mountain) and were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. I would do it again for the amazing views. Short and sweet with a glorious view makes this hike a must do!

Being that it was a Saturday in July I was expecting the park to be busy and it was, the main parking lot was full. I parked in the equestrian parking lot and walked the outer most trail. I didn’t meet anyone who was walking the trail and I met only 9 equestrians. Most of the trail is in the shade, perfect for a warm summer day.

TRAIL CLOSED SINCE 7/14/18

Came, but had a difficult time finding the trail. Once we found it, it was closed. It would have helped if the closure had been marked on the app.

great walk, lots of shade

I have not been here but felt the need to share. Skamania County just announced that a hiker slipped and fell here and did not survive 7/16/18.
Be careful out there, fellow hikers.

Nice short outting, great for kids, mostly shade which is nice when it's warm out.

It was a very easy trail to find and follow! The views were magnificent!

This place is beautiful. If you are looking towards the forest from the parking lot, you can hear the falls. The trail starts back up the road you came to the right, you will see a little opening.

a lot of fun to go to the lower part of the falls!

What a wonderful hike! We parked by Council Lake and caught the Boundary Trailhead up to Council Bluff (per the directions from WTA). Not too steep, not too long - a great add on after visit Takhlakh Lake and walking the loop around there. Our dog loved the hike, though there is no water along the trail, and a rocky exposed section near the top. She enjoyed cooling off in Council Lake afterward (though we drank plenty of water throughout). Stunning views at a few points on the way up, and spectacular view at the top. We saw Mount Hood clearly, a bit of Mount Rainier, amidst some clouds, and caught a glimpse of Mount St Helens. Adams was the star of the show of course. I highly recommend this hike!

great for little kids, easy flat & wide trails. nice little creek to cool off in during the summer months.

Loved this shirt hike! Great for kids and the water felt amazing!

Great trail, great views of the Columbia River gorge, Mt Saint Helens and Mt Adams. Native historical site at the top. One of my favorite hikes.
