Shivonne Birthday Hike Map

Nice ebbs and flows. Took about an hour 45 to get up. Gondola is free down until May. Unfortunately pure fog when I went so no views but great hike.

Switchback style trail with a few views of the Vally as you go up. Brilliant views once you summit. It’s a treat that you can grab coffee and a snack at the gondola facility.

Nice and easy, nice view of the lake, but there is much nicer around.

It's a great hike, don't get me wrong. But considering the amazing ones around, I give that only 4 stars. The best is to find a way to add it to something else. We did The little and big beehive, Lake agnes, and then this trail through highline trail. Big day, filled with amazing views

Don't waste your time, there are much nicer hikes around there. It's a very easy stroll but there just isn't much to see.

Nice little hike with nice view over Lake Minnewanka. I'd suggest doing the cascade mountain scramble instead, but this is much shorter so if time is a factor, go for it!

Short and easy hike with good views of the lake at the end.

Nice trail! Did with a doggo who also enjoyed it. No signs for Boom lake if you’re coming from Radium way, look out for the turning! Did with cleats on but would probably be fine without. Nice opening at the end where the snowy frozen lake is, would be pretty sweet in the summertime!

it’s a good winter hike, we started 1335 today and we reached the false summit 1609 and add another 15 mins to 20 mins hike to the true summit. this is our first winter hike for 2018 with my close friend and my partner. And it’s challenging but were on full gear lol we have our spikes for our shoes and hiking sticks. it is indeed a moderate hiking trail. once you reach the top, you’ll see amazing views of the mountains during winter and you’ll see the famous banff fairmont hotel.

Just do it!!

Very pretty scenery through woods ending at mountains and a glacier. Had lunch at end and took in the views.

Amazing hike, weather is getting warmer. Just be a little careful now , ensure proper gear is on hand.

Trail is in good shape. Some people in boots have made the first bit rough but clears up soon. Beautiful views & no one else on the trail!

We took our XC skis out February 21 and there was plenty of snow. Beautiful hike in the trees until we got to the lake where it opens up to Mountain View’s. Great trail we will come again.

A beautiful and easy hike. Can be busy though.

Nice view at the top. Good winter hike.

Intense workout with a great reward at the end!

lots of snow during the second half but not an issue. take crampons just in case.

Love this trail for its elevation gain/switch backs that make you work thru the entire hike, also, love the option to hike down the backside of Sansen to the Cave and Basin to change it up on the way down. Extend the hike at the top by walking the boardwalk to the cosmic ray station. Amazing views of Banff are a nice bonus :)

Love this hike. Stunning views from the top with a picnic table to have your lunch. You can also sign a visitors book. Has some steep parts but overall a great hike.

We just snowshoed the full loop. It took us 4.5 hours to do. The first half wasn’t groomed yet so it was a bit harder, but the second half was groomed and it made it easier going. The scenery is awesome and it was an enjoyable time.

Great variety and beautiful winter terrain

First time out, windy. The trail was in good shape, wasn’t prepared totally. Needed spikes on the footwear. We try next time to try to make it to Lillian Lakes and the waterfall

Waiting for the snow to come and it’s on it’s way but want to keep the legs in shape! It was icy so hiked it with poles and cleats. Lovely views on the way up. It took us around 1.5 hrs to get to the top. Once there we treated ourselves to a lovely lunch and warm washrooms and then took the gondola down for free. Then, off to the hot pools for a soak! A lovely outing!

Steep switchbacks to get to the top. Worth it once you are up. You get to see a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains! There is a great place at the top for lunch and refreshments . Free gondola on the way down . You can also take gondola up to the top if you are unable to hike for a charge .

Tried to hike to arnica lake this past weekend. Awesome views just past Vista lake as you go up the ridge on the opposite side, I didn't quite make it to the lake due to losing the trail and knee-high snow. I personally wouldn't do it again without snowshoes or until it's cleared out of snow a bit.

Full of snow, but fun!

I did the Emerald Lake Loop the last weekend of November. It was snowing heavily, but the trail was fairly well packed from plenty of foot traffic, making it easy to walk in the snow with a good pair of boots. (However, I'm sure it will be a snowshoe or cross-country-ski-only trail quite soon with all the snow falling at Emerald Lake.) The trail was beautiful and an easy walk. Plaques along the walk had colourful descriptions about the landscape, glacier, and lake. I spent two hours doing the loop at a comfortable pace through the snow with plenty of stops for photos. And, I only saw one other group on the trail at this time of year. Though I had planned to hike up Emerald Basin, the falling snow was already too deep and making the trail hard to see and navigate; I'll have to return in the summer to enjoy that part of the hike.
I highly recommend the loop for short and easy, yet beautiful walk.

One of my favorite trails near Calgary. Beautiful views, nice stops to have breaks. I would rate it as a moderate. Almost all trail it's easy, once you past the forest and enter to the praire, the uphill starts. After that gets kind of steep, but nothing crazy. It gets really windy on top.
