this is a great trail. my wife and I did this trail and thought it was kind of boring at first but the end results are breathtaking. i would recommend hiking boots, there are some ankle eaters along this trail.

Loved this hike! A bit icy in some spots, so careful foot placement was a must. Took me 2 and a half hours, and I’m a beginner hiker. Would definitely do this hike again, and try the loop in the other direction.

It was a bit icy this weekend. View at the top was beautiful! Did the full loop took about 2.5 hours.

Icy spots on the way up made AT loop descent a better choice. So windy! Layers are a must. Stunning view and fun little rock scramble at the summit.

Fun, short hike. Easy enough for a five and six year old. Very crowded on weekends. Excellent view!

Nice short hike. I had a few rain free hours to do this hike. It was creepy walking up in the fog and clouds but also awesome! lol I got the top and was alone but could not see the beautiful view because I was surrounded by clouds, I couldn't see more than 10 feet in front of me (I figured this would be the case when I started the hike). I couldn't even see the drop-off from the rock cliff, this was also creepy and awesome. I was not disappointed by not getting the view that everyone describes, I think my experience at the top was unique and interesting. Pic posted of my overlook.

Fantastic views. Very crowded when we went on a Saturday. Buzzard's Roost, on a short trail a few hundred feet away, has some awesome boulders to climb onto for a nice panorama.

Great views for such a short and easy hike! Hiked on a beautiful, sunny, autumn morning. Will definitely do again.

Rocky and fun lots of beautiful spots to look out along the way

Great trail.

Great short hike with a great view from the top. took the grandkids ages 4 and 5. They did just fine. we did the loop and loved the short trip on the AT.

Spot on for the rating of moderate, it’s a good hike !!! The scenery, views and photo ops are simply superb. One of my favorite trails in WV. ❤️

We started day one of our HIKE socked in with fog then it started to rain. - We made it to the highest point in the Shenandoah National Park. - Just a short side trail off of the Appalachian Trail was the Stony Man Summit we were at a elevation of 4,036 Feet. - It's the highest point in Shenandoah along Skyline Drive. - On our way back down off the mountain we couldn't see 5 feet in front of us. This is great side trail off the AT and is only a 322 feet climb in 8 tenths of a miles. We will need to do this side trail again just to see the views in that location.

What a trail! Fairly short hike but the amount of time you will spend on the cliffs enjoying the many AMAZING views will turn it into a long outing. Views of the bridge, gorge, and river are all spectacular. The cliff walls are very impressive as well with lots of rock climbers on them. One of the best hikes I’ve done this year.

Great trail to end your day on! Super easy. Great for kids!

great view

Good trail, definitely on the easier side of life. Overlook is gorgeous but a small area so prepare for it to be cramped with other visitors. Four year old handled the trail with ease.

nice trail thru the forest after getting to the rocks would reccommend doing the loop if the trail coming up is wet with the traffic coming up and the slick rocks it makes a difficult return down

Beautiful!

We went up to humpback rocks and then followed the loop back to the lot. It was super crowded on the way up and while at HR- the loop back down wasn’t busy at all but thought it was a fairly unremarkable hike through the woods. Still a pleasant day and any day hiking is better than not hiking at all - just didn’t love this hike. Also, there was a good amount of water on the trail throughout so wear good boots!

This was me and my boyfriends first hike, we’ve never hiked before and wanted to try something adventurous. We started around 11am and got to the top around 12:05. It’s supposed to take 1 hr 30 min if your walking at a decent pace but we walked a little faster due to the steepness of the hike. Don’t be fooled this hike is very steep and will wear your body out if you are not used to hiking or long walking. But I will say the view is absolutely stunning and I am now in love with hiking and can’t wait to hike more. This will be a hike that I want to do again for sure soon!! Normally you should hike something a little moderate if your not used to it I’m sure but it was so worth it. Will be coming back for sure, we loved every second of it !!

A great warm hike. Don’t be deceived by the short distance!! This hike will get you breathing hard and everything pumping... A great 360 view at the top.

Good short hike. As noted by another review, it’s marked as “Frazier Discovery Trail”. Easy hike with good views. Trail isn’t very rocky so easy walking for the pup as well.

Took my 6 year old and my 4 year old and they had a good time. The right distance and a great view at the top.

Amazing view! Steep climb, but totally worth it.

this was an easy trail. nice view of the bridge from the rock you can stand on. great hike

The view was great from this trail. Not hard at all only a few uphills at the end. For good light if taking photos, recommend earlier morning, before noon. I was there between 5pm and 7pm and could get very good light for photos. We at lunch at the Cathedral Cafe and it was really good. Even from the Visitor center over looks, photos are best before noon. "Take a Hike to see at Site". I love hiking to see a wonderful view. ENJOY
