Had to park up on the mountain roads on the weekend, and very crowded on the narrow sections of the trail, but still very beautiful and worth it. Most people wearing masks or pulling them up as they pass you. Beautiful views of the ocean on Dipsea.
Nice elevation gain and good scenic points.
Loved this trail, perfect mix of scenery...ocean views, redwood canopies, and little waterfalls along the creek. We did see many people (and a handful of dogs) but everyone was courteous, sharing the path and wearing masks. We were glad we started at Old Mine to Steep Ravine to Pantoll, instead of vice versa. There’s a steep set of steps if you go the other way. Next time we might start at Stinson beach. Happy hiking!
Spectacular. We parked a car at the bottom and one at the top. We hiked only downhill, through the splendid waterfalls and ferns. One of the most beautiful hikes ever. And it had just rained last night; the water was flowing beautifully.
amazing trail! nice views, variety of terrain, beatiful
Nice trails with lots of streaming water and shade but definitely very crowded, especially if you start at 10am. Gotta go before 9 so that it’s less crowded on the way back. If you start at the lake, the falls are in the beginning. It’s also better to start at the lake and get the uphill over with.
Beautiful, but there was WAY too many people and more than half weren’t even wearing masks.
the trail was a great fix of terrain. lots of stairs! make sure to check at every junction to see if your going the right way. kind of easy to get on a different trail.
best part is halfway you can skip the rest
What a beautiful hike. Mostly shaded and pretty much creek side all the way with so many waterfalls! I’ll be back.
The Laurel canyon Trail is my favorite part of this loop and the views are amazing.
Overall great trail for this time of year. Think it will be super hot in summer. One long climb, but not too bad. Awesome views and ability to add to the loop.
Pretty trail! Here’s what I would do if I came back: 1) do it in the summer to sit in the various watering holes :) 2) not on a weekend as it was very crowded 3) start at the bottom at the lake and go upward first, then circle back down. Not a huge fan of out and backs, but it was a nice trail with lots of doggos and pretty falls!
Absolutely breathtaking views. Everything is so green and lush making the air cool and crisp. Waterfalls along the whole trail. The absolute best hike I’ve ever done so far.
The first 3/4 of the trail was pretty mild/moderate, although there are a lot of tree roots to be mindful of. The last quarter gets to moderately difficult, with stairs, stones, and a lot of elevation change. Glad I was there on a weekday, and a not too muddy day. Early March on a Tuesday, for reference, so nice temperate weather, some water in the falls, and less crowded.
Gorgeous trail and a good variety of views with plenty of insta-worthy view points ;). Ocean vistas, forests, waterfalls... this trail has it all. Moderate difficulty on the way up (gradual incline), easy to moderate on the way down.
It’s a nice trail for adults but so much for young kids because it maybe slippery after rainy days.
Narrow and steep, but mostly shaded. Lots of roots that can trip you up. Gorgeous ocean views from the top.
Steep, but beautiful! Totally worth it for the views
I’ve hiked every conceivable loop large (16 miles) and small (8 miles) through this area sandwiched between Stinson Beach and the Mountain Home Inn and hiking up the Steep Ravine is my favorite; it’s breathtakingly gorgeous. The views of the Pacific Ocean from the Matt Davis Trail on your return to Stinson is heaven!
