An urban delight. Tons of tourists all the time, but that’s what we get for being in such a beautiful place.

So gorgeous! There are amazing views of SF, the bay, the beach, and Sausalito. I’d recommend getting there early enough to find parking as it was intense by the time we left (about 1pm). We ended up adding a couple miles to our trip by adding the Battery Spencer Trail to the day as well as exploring a couple of the old batteries which I definitely recommend. As a Bay Area native, the views never get old and if you’re local and you haven’t been, I hope you do. Trail was about 40-50% shaded so prepare for that if your fair otherwise it requires very little planning. Great place to take visitors! Keep in mind you can only access the parking lot from the south so if you’re coming from Marin, you do a bit of backtracking - unless I don’t know a secret way to get through... which is entirely possible!

We loved the trail, the views were breathless and it wasn’t full of tourists. Plus it was mildly challenging and there was a bathroom at baker beach, made it a nice pit stop.

Nice hike. Early morning fog provides some drama to this hike.

Beautiful views from Golden Gate! So few places that are as scenic as this. Its an awesome walk in the Fall but anytime year round it’s beautiful!

Difficult to beat for a city walk!

This trail map should not include Point Bonita Trail. There's not a direct way to get from the Wolf Ridge-Lagoon Loop to Point Bonita without walking on the side of the road and through parking lots. Also, while the Miwok/Coastal/Lagoon trails are all dog-friendly, the Lighthouse Trail is definitely not. Just cut off the Lighthouse trail from this map and you've got a perfect day hike loop. A lot of confused people go into the park looking for the "Marin Headlands Loop trail" but won't find that. Just look for the Miwok or Lagoon trails to get started.

Amazing hike with great views.

Good walk by the shore. Can take nice pictures with Golden gate on the back drop.

Outstanding hike and views! Just a great day!

Very enjoyable walk. Went early on a Sunday morning. Not too crowded. Beautiful views of the bay. Windy easy stroll across the bridge and back.

Excellent hike with two distinct and very different parts. Park at visitor center per the trail map guidelines, then hike the loop clockwise. First part of the hike is out to Pt. Bonita lighthouse and back and is very scenic. Note that the Pt Bonita lighthouse is only open Sat- Mon starting at 12:30 and only stays open for a few hours. Second part of the hike is moderately steep going up from Rodeo Beach almost to the top of Hill 88, then loops back down the Miwok Trail and back to the trailhead. This second part of the hike is more typical of a Marin Headlands hike. Hiking time: 2.5 hrs.

beautiful trail

Best hike ever . a must do when you are visiting SF.
You could see Alcatraz and angel island. The view of the open waters is amazing and relaxing.
I did this in November 2016.

No pictures can really do the Golden Gate Bridge justice. Standing on top and looking down is an immense feeling. Toss something off the side and count the second until it reaches the bay.

I wouldn't consider it a trail but it's a nice stair case to take on the way to Grand View Park; which has a 360 degree view of Financial District, the gate, the beach, and the colorful sf houses.

A San Francisco tradition; just do it!

Easy walk down & back. The hardest part is finding a parking spot!

Nice hike, very easy.. more of a walk. If you have shoes with good tread and well balanced... I recommend going straight down the side in the trees. You go off the path by the first turn to the right and just continue down the hill. You'll have to shimmy about 10 feet down a steep incline at the beach but makes it adventurous and great on the legs.
