Beautiful hike There is ice at the top
Trail is closed.
Trail is currently closed due to the fires .
Very difficult and not well-defined.
Well maintained and beautiful. Good fishing, too.
everything about this trail is amazing, breathtaking views
Beautiful views. Busy trail, lots of people.
Backpacked with my kids (9 & 11) and wife to the upper lakes and had a great time. Steep uphill the whole way to the lakes but trail was much better than expected and in places where it disappeared it was clear which way to go. Beautiful area with very few other people.
Great trail - we went on a Saturday morning in August and it wasn’t too crowded. We got to the parking lot around 8:30am and it was already pretty full but we found a parking spot no problem. I would call the Trail itself moderate. There were many switchbacks heading but totally do able for an average hiker. No snow on the trail and the lakes were gorgeous. The second lake was our favorite. We went to the third lake and it took us around 3 hours that was with hanging out at the top having lunch.
That altitude sickness was no joke
Hiked Thursday, August 20 start 11 ish end 2:30. Super well maintained trail with intermittent shade after the first half mile of exposed slope. Gorgeous waterfalls the whole way and cool transitions between greenery and rock. Very smoky when we went but still worth it. Pretty busy but not crowded, most people we passed were backpacking in or out.
University Peak is a great 13'er to look at
great, I wish I started earlier. 8:30 is pretty late
Great day. A bit crowded but beautiful.
Awesome trail! Definitely uphill and huge elevation gain the whole way up. But coming down was easy, not too steep so it wasn’t too hard on my knees. We fished the middle lake for awhile and took our 1yo in the carrier. He loved throwing rocks in the lake. We didn’t make it all the way up because of time. Super super crowded. I’m guessing because of covid? We had to park way down the road. I’ve never seen it that packed before!
Beautiful trail with so many nice views! If you’re a beginner hiker and not used to high elevation, it will get a little hard to breathe. It’s pretty busy and parking lot is usually always full. Great for fishing, we caught the limit!
It was awesome! Def would come back and camp out.
Probably not the best for people with bad ankles due to all the rocks. I suggest getting there at 6am because the sun is just so hot. Brought lots of water and it still wasn’t enough. The hike going up was really intense had to take lots of breaks but totally worth it when we got to the second lake. So gorgeous. Probably not the most dog friendly without booties
Perfect for distancing. Hard. Amazing surreal lakes. You’d probably like it, even though it’s really hard, steep, sometimes not so clear. I highly recommend wearing sturdy shoes, sunscreen, GPS, eyes and brains :)
This trail is barely defined and straight up incline with precarious terrain. A friend and I did this home last week and were separated. I ended up falling down the side of the waterfall, losing the trail and being lost until 9pm when search and rescue came to get me (5 hours later). Wet, freezing, bruised, bloody and shaken, S&R stated this trail is not safe and definitely one of the hardest trails to navigate. While the view at the top was pretty, the other trail nextdoor is much more defined with wayyyyyyy prettier views and water to play in.
Lots of people on the trail today. Maybe because of Covid-19 virus. Many hikers were warring face masks. Hot and sunny. Water is still coming down the creeks... saw 3 waterfalls. Parking lot was overflowing and had to park down the road. Great hike
