Nature tripsGreat!

Was a great trail for the kids and I. My kiddos had never seen snow, and to our surprise, there was still some left.

WalkingGreat!

As one can probably gauge from reading the reviews, it’s busy. Yet I never felt like I was in a crowd. Still would recommend simply because seeing such awesome trees is such a unique experience. Going down to General Sherman is eazy peazy as it is all down hill. Enjoy it! knowing that you’re amongst some of the most spectacular and beautiful trees in the world. The trail is as accessible as can be for people with no handicaps; paved, wide, and only a couple spots with steps. There are even a couple benches for you to rest if need be on the way back up. There is also a specific Handicap parking lot that brings you right up to the tree as well if you are in need of it. Lots of fun facts and information about the area on signs throughout for those that don’t mind stopping and reading a little.

FishingGreat!

The start location from the Potwisha side is at the dump station, we started from the parking lot (we screwed up) and the AllTrail map we downloaded guided us using GPS, back up to the trail. It was obvious lots of others did the same thing as we found a well used trail to get us back on track to the proper trail. Started at 1pm, obviously a bit late, kinda warm but still incredible. Small leaves (sporadic) are slippery, be very careful. I am scared of heights, the only place I had an issue was on the bridge when I could see the road to the right, down about 100', bridge is about 4' wide for about 12' long, my wife had no issues. Single file hike but people can get by you easily. The views are incredible, you can see the river in lots of places but you are sometimes 300-1,000 ft away, inaccessible. There is a cut off with a sign that says "river" closer to the Potwisha side of entry. We didn't go but a guy did and told us it was easy and a few mins hike off the main trail. There is a water fountain & bathrooms at the Hospital Rock picnic area at the end. We didn't see any wildlife, could hear the traffic from the nearby main road. You do cross the road at one point to get to the other side of the trail. Not heavily used for a Sunday afternoon, we ran into 4 people. 25% in shaded area. Hardly any rocks to walk through, we both work great gripping sneakers. We are both fit, 57yr old husband not aerobic but lifts, 43yr old wife aerobic wife & lifts, so if he can make it, anyone can. This was a great hike for views of the water falls and mountains. We rate it as moderate and 5 miles.

Much less crowded than General Sherman, but I was more amazed by Sherman than Grant. However, this area has other trails that you can walk to add to the length of your stay.

The busiest area of the national park, but if you go somewhat early in the morning, you can have a pleasant experience. Still in awe of General Sherman! Make sure to get a vertical panorama picture to capture the whole tree.

Nice hike, good place to see how big these trees are with virtually no people around. Still a bit early to drive down to the trailhead (suggest walking the extra 2 miles each way)...I passed a large pickup stuck in the snow trying to get back up (thanks to the reviewer 3 days ago I didn't try and was glad when I saw the guy stuck). that said, there was very little snow on the actual trail.

Only sporadic snow patches; trail is almost entirely dry. I left my car up near the highway because I drive a front wheel drive and it was not going to be able to come back over the snow on the road.
