I don’t really consider this “easy” some steep areas that get your heart rate up. I would say this is between easy and moderate. Take water.

11/24/18 Great little walk through some giants. Entire path is paved and highly trafficked. Very touristy location. It was pretty cool considering it was our first encounter with the sequoias. After we left here we drove north to hike Camp Nelson trail. It was a great balance as there were very few people and still saw some grand sequoias!

Lovely trail. Yes, I’d rate it as easy. Relatively flat, how far you want to go is really the only question. We hiked 2 miles in. We didn’t hurry, so the complete time hiking was about 2 hours total. Later learned trail end just about .5 mile farther, so we wished we’d just completed it. Next time. Trail goes along the side of the river. Lots of fisherman scattered here and there. Finished the day with a great lunch at Kern River Brewing in Kernville. It was a perfect day trip.

My husband and I took our 4, 5 and 7 year old on this trail over the weekend. I would rate it as moderate for children. We held our 4 & 5 year olds hand the first 2 miles (we only went half a mile past the hard part. It took 3 hours to complete 5 miles with 3 young kids) several times we had to have our 7 year old pause so we could also help her across some really narrow slippery spots. It’s a beautiful trail that my kids loved but it gave mom a bit of anxiety. If you plan on taking younger kids I would suggest 1 adult to 1 kid and hiking boots for the kids. Some spots one trip or loss of balance can result in a pretty bad accident. We plan on going back without the kids for a less stressful trip and so we can complete the trail.

Great stroll.

Quick jaunt, beautiful 2hr run. Stunning vistas

Beautiful hike lots of scenery, very short hike down there were a lot of people in the hot springs so was unable to get in or take pic of it. Was really hoping it wouldn’t be busy today. I didn’t want strange people in my photos. Overall good hike.

This is more of a nature walk, so if you're looking for a workout, it's probably not what you want. I personally wanted to see Sequoias and also have my dog able to come with me. Since pups arent allowed in the park, this hit the spot! The trail is very busy but most people are friendly and respectful. You get a chance to crawl around huge trees and stand in awe of these majestic giants.
Highly recommend for small kids and dogs, and anyone else wanting to see Sequoia trees in a peaceful, shaded setting.

Amazing views. Short and challenging hike, We stopped several times to enjoy the view. Came early and greeted with several groups coming up on our way down. The 3 miles drive FS21S05 was unpaved road to the parking lot.

9-16-18. Short but great hike. if you are in the area, this is a most do. There Is a $5 fee, but it never hurts to support our parks.

Paid $5 for parking

Clearly marked trail on the other side of the road. Beautiful sequoias scattered throughout the trail. Can walk on a fallen one. A lot of the trees have burn marks on them. Nice walk through the woods. Very crowded when I went. Lots of tourist groups. Dog friendly. On leash. Very clean.

I have been coming here since I was a child. This is a great easy hike/walk. Perfect for younger family and friends... even the dogs! Pretty scenery and is a nice way to beat the heat of the valley in the summer.

A quiet hike to a classic climbing spot. Bring your own water.

This was a simple and gratifying trail with lots to see. To park, we had to pay a 5 dollar fee (not a big deal) for an ALL DAY pass. We arrived around 8am and hit the trail early. By the time we returned for lunch it was crowded with no available parking,so be an early bird. We brought the kids along so it wasn't a difficult hike. Definitely will return!

Amazing hike, good for weekend warriors to cut their teeth on a trail with varying levels of inclination. Bring lots of water and get ready for 3 hours of amazing hours. Lots of shady spots to take a break - take your time and buckle up for the last quarter mile to lookout gate. Stunning!

Beautiful hike and well shaded. I started at the bottom at Freeman grove off of Lloyd Meadow Rd and hiked up then came back down. There is a great rock about 1.25 miles from the top near one of the bridges that overlooks the creek that is a perfect place to stop for lunch.

We drove in and parked at the base of the rock. Easy, quick scurry up to the top. Beautiful views, I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Sequoia National Forest.

Easy, paved trail with great views of impressive redwoods. Good walk for kids.

The trees are amazing, the trail is a very light paved walk in a loop. It was a nice casual stroll. Be prepared to pay the GOV $5 for parking. And no an America The Beautiful pass will not be accepted.

Pretty awesome hike. Take lots of water and light snacks. Make sure to stop in ponderosa for a beer when you leave! I always go past the gates and get on the top of the hill as well. There is a marker on the top of the hill w amazing views!

We first walk this trail in April 2017 and the path was covered with downed trees and large branches and we had to crawl over or around the debris. We went again in May and June 2018 and it was a huge improvement, just a shame that there are people that have ruin the beauty of the trail with graffiti and carvings.

Nice hike! We did it about a month ago and despite the altitude it was still quite warm. It took us about three hours, could have been done faster but we stopped quite a lot to let my daughter's dog rest his paws, not for me to catch my breath

This was an awesome hike when it was snowing. There was a huge circle around the hot springs from the heat!!! Always be careful if you jump in the river though!!!
