Got there just before sunrise this morning. Amazing views. Super easy walk up the stairs. Had the rock to myself for about 30 mins. Blissful

We love this trail. It was easy and our kids had fun.

Really fun short climb to the top of the rock with great views

Very hot in the summer and barely any shade but very pretty rocks. Lots of loose sand which can be slippery.

short and sweet! arrived just in time to catch the sun rise which was cool but the light blocked the view of the dividing range to the left. would be a great spot for sunset. please put your rubbish in the bins!

It’s a bit dry and dusty at the moment (Labor day weekend), but normally this trail is probably great. It was fine today - just quite hot and 6 out of 7 of us got stung by yellow jackets (there was a swarm right on the edge of the trail). We saw 3 rattlesnakes on the trail but if you spot them and wait for them to slither off it’s no problem. The falls at the end were nice (a bit small), but not 100% sure they were worth the effort and stings.

Nice moderate hike to a gorgeous lake. We logged in 7.7 miles but we also walked around the entire lake. The elevation required a few rest stops on the way but it wasn’t anything too strenuous. Really glad we got to the trailhead at 7am. We had the trail to ourselves and enjoyed a quiet and peaceful lunch before heading back. But we encounter so many people on our way back to the trailhead and the parking area was full. Will do this one again! 9/1/2018.

I made the climb for sunrise with my wife and was not disappointed with the view. It was a relatively easy climb on paved steps from the parking lot, but recognize that 7400ft altitude may provoke hesitation on some.

Got there by 9:00 AM and beat the crowds on a Sunday morning which was ideal. Would have been 5 stars except the view was pretty smokey from recent fires,

Out of all of the hikes I have done in socal thus far, this has been my absolute favorite! It's definitely a hidden gem. Took about 6 hours with a nice nap in the middle of the river atop a rock near the falls. I saw maybe 8 people the entire hike. There is quite a bit of shade which is nice for those hot days and the falls at the end is a nice rewarding treat! It's so hard to go back to the park and not do this day hike.

We loved seeing the sequoias above ground and then completed our adventures in the park by going into the caves underground. It made for a fantastic experience overall. The caves are beautiful. Since we have little kids, the family tour was perfect for us. The tour guide stopped in three large spaces to explain the caves, but the kids preferred walking through narrow corridors in between the rooms. So much to see, and it's breathtaking. The family tour was perfect for us, but it was pretty basic. If you're not traveling with small children, consider the age 13+ tour or one of their specialty tours, and I'm sure you'll see even more incredible sights. The walk back up from the cave was strenuous as we were carrying toddlers, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Great quick little backpacking trip to Weaver Lake. Trail was moderately trafficked and relatively flat. There's a couple of steep spots but nothing tremendously difficult. Great views of the horizon at certain stops so be sure to take a break and enjoy the views! There was really only one small creek/water source on the trail until you reach the lake, so pack your water accordingly... the sun exposure can be pretty warm! Lake had a bunch of mosquitos but they didn't really bother much, but we made sure to pitch a tent a bit away from the lake just to be safe. Overall, I'd recommend it!

Be aware that there are large nests of angry and very territorial bees after approx 1.5 and then 2.5 miles. The first was about half a metre of the trail so not too much of an issue, but the second was right on the trail and completely unavoidable. Both my wife and I were sting multiple times - take anti histamines if you're going to do this till and be prepared to run past the nests.

This was a really great experience. We took the Family Tour, which lasted approximately an hour from start to finish. We’re a couple and not a family, but the tour was perfect and run by an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide (thanks Erin!). The inside of the cave is just breathtaking. If you’re in the area, I would definitely recommend this tour!

Went during sunset, real awesome, unfrotunately lots of smoke from the fires that fill up the central valley. Hike is easy.

AMAZING. Did this with some storm clouds in the distance which is terrifying and definitely not recommended, but absolutely breath taking.

by far my most favorite hike. trail was easy to follow and the climb to the top was well worth it. hike has a tons of rocks in case if you want to play "floor is lava". if you're facing the restroom trail head is to the left.

Took the Crystal Cave Tour and it surpassed my expectations. The trail has great views and you're treated with a waterfall at the end while you wait for tour to start. Highly recommend the tour!

Came here on a weekday when we could park at the trailhead. It's a short but steep hike up to the top. The views were still amazing despite some of the haziness from the nearby fires. Definitely plan to come back when the sky clears and to go to stargazing.

Stunning caves not to be missed, trial itself has a bit of steps, otherwise it is pretty easy. There are pretty streams and falls along the trial.

Pretty nice hike. Drove up Friday night and slept maybe a mile before the trailhead. The road getting to the trailhead was rougher than I expected. Some decent sized rocks. I saw a sedan at the trailhead so I guess any car could make it, but there was a piece of a broken off skid plate from a car up there too. We left Saturday morning and it took us about 5 hours to get there. It’s mostly shaded and the trail is well defined. Some meadows and flowers. The lakes are very pretty plenty of good campsites. The upper lake reminded me of something out of a fairy tale. It’s small with a tiny island and a single funny looking tree. We stayed the night and made it back in 4.5 hours. Overall it’s a really nice hike!

The views are spectacular and second to none. The parking is limited. The crowds are dangerously overwhelming. Be extra careful when going up there.

The reason this hike only gets 4 stars is the lack supervision from park rangers. I saw a lot of people careless on trail that doesn't give second chances.

Not as advertised. Very difficult hike, especially in the summer months because of the rare shade found for the greater parts of the hike. The elevation change is also closer to 2,300 feet and round trip it is almost 10 miles. The falls are gorgeous at the end but with the poor air quality in the park and the fires in the nearby areas, it was difficult catching a full breath the whole time. Would not recommend for inexperienced hikers.

Loved this hike!!!

Awesome hike! Trail was a bit of a challenge. Ran into a large doe with two fawns about halfway in. Had to make room because momma wasn’t having it. None the less awesome views and the water was amazing definitely recommend!

After our plans to reach the Mineral King area today fell through, we decided to do a hike in the foothills instead.
Mid-June, the temperature was easily in the 90s and there isn't much shadow along the way, so be sure to carry a lot of water and wear sunscreen and a hat if you're doing this in summer. Long pants also come highly recommended, as the trail is narrow and there is a lot of undergrowth.
The hike itself is not terribly exciting for most part - you don't get much in the way of views and, especially in the summer heat, it can become a bit of a slog. The waterfalls are quite pretty though.
Overall, I would say that there are better hikes to do in Sequoia, but if you want to experience the climate of the foothills, this is not a bad hike to do.

Great hike. Took my 6 year old daughter on her first backpacking trip. It was work, a steady uphill climb, but she made it just fine. We went up on Thursday and left Friday, a few other groups were there, but more were heading up on our way out. Fishing was tough, probably would have done better with flies. I would definitely recommend this hike.
