This trail is awesome. Its super easy and well shaded. If you're looking for more of an adventure continue on past the sign at the end and scramble up the rocks for a fantastic view - my group didnt go too far up but it looks like you can continue on for a while and get as sketchy as you want.

This trail has nice views of Sedona and surrounding rock formations. All views have buildings, roadways, and traffic. However it is not an easy trail trail but Moderate. There is lots of rocks in trail, ups & downs, requiring attention to footing, proper sturdy footware, plenty of water, etc. I do not think it is good for mountain bikes unless your a pro rock hopper. Trail is well used so you will not be alone or secluded.

Fantastic. It’s strenuous. I am in decently good shape and it was moderate to hard. It’s all uphill and a lot of rock scrambling. But views along the way and at the end are stunning. Took us 25 mins from the cathedral Rock trailhead to get to the top. Then it’ll be another 25 to get down. Everyone said to get here early because the trail is crowded and the two parking lots get full. So we got here at 8am in high season on a Thursday. The first lot was full but second lot was mostly empty. This was the perfect time to go because the trail wasn’t crowded at all and we had space to get up and enjoy the view and the weather was perfect (58 degrees). Definitely worth it!

This is my overall favorite Sedona hike, combining stunning views with pure physical endurance, technical hiking, a bit of climbing, a lot of variety in scenery and a fair amount of risk. Bear Mt has a little of everything. It is a long, hard hike with sensational views throughout and an enormous payoff if you reach the true final summit.. It requires physical fitness, experience, and some preparation. Take lots of water, some food, gloves and hat. It is too dangerous for young children, with many trail segments near sheer cliffs or along precarious rock ledges. Recommend starting early in the morning and be prepared for 4-6 rigorous hours of Sedona heaven.

Perfect weather. Crossings can be a little tricky at times but not that difficult if you take your time. Water level was low so they were a little easier. Would recommend.

Walked this trail with my wife as beginners in hiking. The road to the parking "lot" is unpaved and signage for the road is really visable. The trail head is well identified with various signs along the way to verify you are on the right path even though the trail is clearly warn into the earth. There is a little incline walking into the volcano which can slow the pace down but coming out is a breeze. You must climb up a 6' maintained ladder to enter the volcano and do not worry as there are hand rails as well. The views inside are incredible and the views of the San Francisco Peak to the East is really nice on the trail.

One of our favorite trails here. Fun, winding, climbing trail. Lots of people but not anymore crowded than Soldiers. The climb to Chicken Point was a nice short workout.

Love the trail and the view at the top.

great little hike with a cool view. at the top go to the left and up another rock scramble to find a more secluded area. get there early because it is going to be busy.

Easy trail with fun surprises. half way through the hike is a path to an arch with a rock fort underneath. keep going past the rock fort to find a path to get on top of the arch, the path to the top is a little tough.

We are infrequent hikers and found this trail was a good match for our ability. We are 71 and 66 years and live in the Midwest so have little experience of high desert hiking. We did Pipeline from Cotonwood Picnic area to its terminus at another parking lot, ate lunch there and turned around and hiked back. We took the Yavapai Trail turnoff on the way back. It was a good section of that trail for us, mostly downhill and great views of the lake. Took us about 2 hrs, 45 min total. It’s very rocky, good shoes help, water is essential too. A terrific hiking experience for us!

Most amazing views in Sedona! Hard hike with many layers to it. Do it! You wont regret it. Bring extra water for dogs and go early because you are exposed the entire time and it warms up quick

This is a beautiful hike! Absolutely gorgeous scenery! You will cross the creek 13 times on the way in so you’ll definitely need waterproof shoes. Will definitely do again.

There are only like 10 parking spots in a very crowded parking lot. I suggest stopping at the entrance and waiting for for someone to leave. I would consider this a moderate hike because of the rough terrain but not really any actual hand and foot climbing. It is fun because there are several things to see along the way. We did not end up doing the whole trail. This trail has great views of the red rocks and has lots of shade.

In the description it mentions a red rock pass. I did not see anything about this at the trailhead.

Great sunset hike, be up at the top at least an hour before sunset.

When I first looked at this hike it stated it was an "easy" hike. It's definitely a "moderate" hike in my opinion because you're consistently walking up and there are some places where you have to walk in small crevices and walk up and over big and loose rocks.

Wear sturdy hiking boots and watch your footing. If you need to, take it slow, like we did.

The views up top are astounding, especially at sunset.

Enjoyable hike, but crowed. Spectacular views. Rated as moderate but has sections with significant rock climbs. Used the Baldwin/Templeton routes to access the trail, added 2 miles to the hike. Avoided the crowded trail head problem.

Easy family hike! The end around the side of the mountain towards the roost is a little dicey, but not too difficult. Great, easy, fun hike with beautiful views!

Very easy trail for families and the payoff is awesome

My 58 year old body made it to the top! With my 57 year old hubby as my tour guide, we were successful in following the trail. Very well marked. Lots of great photo ops and the view from the top is breathtaking.

Great little hike. I did with my two older parents and they like it. trail can be a bit confusing in spots because of other trails intersecting but it's also hard to get lost. Very small parking lot.

Very beautiful and simple hike.

Soldier Pass to Brins Mesa is a 'must-see' hike. The trail is well maintained and makes for a fairly easy walk. There is a long, gradual ascent to the mesa, although a few uphill spots rate as moderate. The views throughout the hike and from the crowning mesa are awe inspiring, transcendant, unforgettable. The trailhead parking is practically non-existent, so be prepared to park far away and walk some distance to reach the trail. This is a minor aggravation, but well worth the glorious views. Even on a weekend, the trail did not seem crowded. I will be back again and again for this fantastic hike.

One of my absolute favorite hikes in Arizona. This hike is a go to year round and especially nice in the warm weather when you’re able to enjoy the water.

Watched the sunrise over horseshoe bend this week. Absolutely amazing. Very few people there at that time, but by the time he sun came up it was packed already. Recommend going early.

Beautiful trail! Parking was very limited. Had to park a couple miles out on a road in a residential area, but the additional hike to the hike was worth it.

Loved this hike! Views were stunning along the entire trail! pretty steep incline the whole way up, but the view was totally worth it. We finished the trail in about 4 hours. We are in our early 20's and are experienced hikers.

Great views throughout the entire trail. Some sections are quite steep but manageable. Feels longer than posted distance.

Gorgeous views & diverse terrain made for a great trail run. For the most part easy to follow & well marked. I had to find my location on a downloaded map a handful of times. Not too crowded early in the morning. The trailhead requires a redrock parking pass but was very easy to purchase via vending machine.

Definitely one of the best trails I have ever done. Unfortunately we had gone on a day that was forecast to rain throughout the day and it was a bad decision since we didn’t have much rain-proof gear, so it was cold and wet. Nevertheless, the views were 10/10 and would definitely go back again on a sunny day. There’s not much incline but it is a decent distance to the end of the trail and the stream crossings definitely slow you down but makes for an interesting hike.
