Trail in good condition. Came on a Sunday, turned up at about 2:30pm and there was parking available. It's a simple hike, basically just switch-backs all the way to the top, but the views are absolutely incredible from the top.

Pros: Easy to get to (the freeway is 5 minutes from the trail head). Trail in good condition. Absolutely stunning views from the top.

Cons: Busy, so if you hike for solitude you won't find it here. Trail quite narrow so lots of stopping to let people pass. The hike itself up the hill is pretty nondescript, could be anywhere in the Cascades.

Such an great hike! The lake was absolutely beautiful & the lookout was amazing! I recommend hiking boots, we ran into a bit of mud in several areas.

Didn’t make it to the falls, yet enjoyed the 3 mile hike, great one to start after two years away. Beautiful colors super scenic. Dog friendly, easy access from Salmon le Sac campground.

Trail is in awesome condition! Rainy season is definitely upon us. Remember to bring rain gear and wear waterproof shoes, you have to navigate through some creeks and a small waterfall. We saw a couple families with small children turn around due to the creeks flowing through the trail. My pup absolutely LOVED it and jumping on over all the roots and big rocks along the way!

Very well maintained trail with beautiful waterfalls.

My favorite views close to Seattle while out in PacNor. It’s not a hard trail as much as it is a decent distance and altitude - but views so worth it.

Loveeeee This hike. Even In the fog and rain, it’s was beautiful.

One of my favorite, and not too difficult, trails. This hike is great for anyone of any athletic level. Very kid and pet friendly hike. Have hiked this twice but never saw anyone swim. Bring plenty of water!

loved this trail! will be using it for training!

Hiked up heather lake on 09/16; was pouring rain for the first half, and it stopped by the time we got to the top. Lots of water & mini waterfalls flowing along the trail, so waterproof boots and clothing highly recommended! Brought a small picnic to eat at the top with the beautiful view of the lake. Overall an awesome hike and will definitely come again on a day with better weather.

*Side note: the drive up the mountain to the trailhead parking lot has A LOT of potholes! I made it fine with the VW Jetta, but just something to watch out for.

came in on the little mashel falls-bud Blancher trail side. beautiful trail but beware of vicious blue heeler living on the ranch the trail goes by on the right side. my dog was bit and had to turn back. need to try again with out the pup!

Such a beautiful hike. The road was bumpy but definitely not as bad as we anticipated. Need good hiking shoes (not regular sneakers) as there are lots of rocky parts, tons of tree roots and some muddy parts as well. Started the trail at 8AM on a Monday and had the trail and the fire lookout completely to ourselves! Didn’t see anyone until we were on our way down. The view was stunning! Definitely recommend this hike!!

We were here on 09/13 which was a overcast day. I felt like this hike took a lot of work and time up for very little payoff. To start the road was under construction so within the first few miles we were stopped at a sign saying road closed for an hour. Talked to some previously waiting cars and sounded like awhile had already elapsed. Waited maybe 20 min to continue. Then you have this unpaved road that is just so rough the whole way and has a speed limit of 25 mph. Takes about 40 minutes with lots and lots of moments you swear you will have a flat tire. The hike itself was not overly strenuous or technical but is definitely a workout at times. We only went to the falls and turned around since we knew we weren’t going to get any Mountain View’s with the weather so in total was a 4 mile trip. Then back down the rough road to wait another 30 minutes at the construction zone to leave. I think if it had been a clearer visibility day so that the hike itself had more visual payoff I wouldn’t have cared so much about the time and the travel etc but for us it was just a pretty standard forest hike with a lot of obstacles.

On a clear day this is an amazing hike. We were lucky enough to have great weather and the views of mount rainier were spectacular! It definitely has some elevation so be prepared! We got there @ 9am on a weekday and only saw a few ppl on the trail .

Pretty hike, trail is difficult due to rocks and roots and it’s literally a stream. Make sure to wear waterproof shoes since you’ll need to walk in water. The lake is beautiful and the sun was just coming up behind the mountain around 12.

Absolutely worth the hike to get the awesome view up at the fire tower! Definitely feels longer than you might think at times. Bring some food to replenish & plenty of water. Had no issues with parking or bugs when I went over labor day weekend 2018 - arrived around 9:30am. We spent our time after the hike over at Mowich lake for the rest of the afternoon. Great way to relax and enjoy your accomplishment.

great trail! beautiful views at the lakes and definitely will be a repeat for us

Great, easy, dog friendly hike. The view of the lake is beautiful, if you can tolerate the crowd. The trail is in excellent condition and there’s plenty of parking at the trailhead.

Excellent trail! We were able to hike this after leaving Mount Baker on our way back to the Seattle airport. Rained all day in Bellingham Sunday so we needed one more hike before hearing back to hot, humid Atlanta !

It’s a hard road throughout hiking. It was a challenging rather than enjoying the scenery nature offers like other hiking b/c up/ down hills hurt feet a lot. I felt I go through a hardship but resting and majestic scenery on the top after a long hard walking makes all of hardship worthy and grateful to survive from it and appreciate the beauty of nature!

Great trail. Road to the trail head is very bumpy, but I was able to make it up there with a VW Jetta. Easy first mile, the last mile and three quarters is definitely a climb.

We hiked this for the first time a few weeks ago and it was BEAUTIFUL. I mean breathtaking. Not a tough hike and any spots that were a little tough were made worth it by the views. Watch out for the wasps nest at the beginning of the hike though, I got stung. Not fun. Trail is well kept up. Not a ton of bugs. A little chilly if it’s not sunny.

Nice hike and a decent view. But I hope you enjoy sharing the trail.

great hike up. good workout. did it with my 12 yr old son. he only complained minimally. view is absolutely gorgeous. will be doing this one again.

Not much of a ghost town, but the hike was pretty easy. Option to go short or long distance.

very nice and relaxing walk, beautiful beach great first dogs that like to swim!

The very beginning 15 minuets where the toughest as we were also carrying heavy overnight backpacks. But the rest of the trail was very easy and beautiful.

It was such a pretty trail with an amazing view. There are some point where the trail is steep but it’s worth it when you see the views.

Wow what an amazing hike! The scenery from start to finish is beautiful, and the ending is definitely worth the effort, resulting in a superior view of Mount Rainier.
