The trail was clean, no snow but cold. Not very busy but the falls is gorgeous!

There was a lot of snow on road and one map said we were at trail. We decided to park and hike the road to trailhead. 2.5 miles we finally got to trail head. It was a pretty hike in the snow even on the road. It was getting dark so we decided wouldn’t have enough time to do the hike, with walking down road with the cars that still needed to come down. Snow was deep as we got higher. We had spikes so they helped walking the road.

It was a beautiful hike in the snow even though we didn’t make to trail.

Full of adventure and hard. Most of all, its worth it.

Short, rigorous hike up. Worth it though as there are beautiful views at the top.

Nice hike with good view!

Awesome short hike. View from the top is amazing.

You: Bring light Ice cleats, and a camera.

Transportation: having decent ground clearance is not a must have but surely helps. I wouldn’t drive up there in a sedan, but people do it.

Great hike! We enjoyed the hike. It was cold and windy. The trail wasn't too busy! Clear and beautiful! See all three mountains in the distant!

I can see why this trail is so popular! On a clear day, the views are breathtaking. As we hiked, we could see Mt Baker, Rainier, Adams, and St Helens. The views only got better as we got closer to the summit.

Logistically, there's plenty of parking at the upper trailhead, as well as a bathroom. We brought our microspikes but didn't need them. I think we happened to catch the last good weekend for awhile though, so I'd definitely recommend microspikes for the next 4-5 months. It's cold and windy at the top, so would also recommend layers.

A little busy but the view from the top was absolutely amazing! The trail was icy in several spots. Should have brought some light ice cleats but it was still doable.

Always an amazing hike!!

This was a great hike. Well maintained. Disappointed about the fog but an added bonus to have the ability to drive to see the view! Fog burned off on the way down, so we drove over and enjoyed the scenery!

First trail I drove my Jeep up. It was easy drive and the view was amazing!

decided yesterday was the day for me and dog to climb ellinor, boy was it fun we went winter route in summer a lot of scrambling but worth it

Breathtakingly gorgeous. Very steep climb, but there’s so much to take in, you don’t care. Make sure to take time to stop at the little offshoots/viewpoints. We only saw a few people the whole time.
Can be a bit slippery. Poles would have been helpful, but we managed just fine. Want to come back and do it again.

Did this hike 6 weeks ago from the lower trailhead in a torrential downpour. The hike was good but the visibility at the top was non existent. I must say i am so glad i did it again today (Nov 8th).Left at 8am and there was still fog in the area all the way until i reached the upper trailhead. Then the skies cleared and the weather was as perfect as it could ever be. The views at the top are astounding. I could see Rainier, Adams, Baker to the north and even St Helens. This a tough hike so you better be in shape. Its a steep incline the whole way with very few breaks. Well worth the climb though and i will continue to use it as good training ground for some of the bigger mountains.

Beautiful!! Not so much a hike as stair climbing, but worth the 30 minutes round trip with 15 minutes of enjoying the falls!!!

Intense elevation gain but a good length and the views are beautiful. Saw lots of dogs!

A beautiful hike!
I would suggest using a 4 wheel drive, or high clearance vehicle. The road to the parking is plagued with potholes. That makes the journey a lot longer to park. There are no facilities here.
It wasn't too busy, and it was a gorgeous fall day!

Last 9 miles before trailhead is all gravel with potholes. My sedan made it up fine but had to drive pretty slow. Hike was difficult with poles being a must. No snow seen. Gorgeous views. Could not stay at the top as we stumbled upon a herd of mountain goats that popped up from the side of the mountain and started to quickly follow us down the trail. Other reviews stated they were friendly but to me they did not seem so as they were hot on our trail. Please be cautious and turn back if there are goats in your path! Views are amazing though!

Hiked yesterday. 650ft incline per mile. Seemed steeper. Tough hike but short. Bring poles for the way down if you have tired knees. Amazing views all the way. Saw 4 mountain goats.

Simply amazing. A relatively short hike with some of the most breathtaking views at the end. We were lucky to get a sunny fall day and see Rainier in all its glory, along with Adams and St Helens. The drop off the edge is insane, incredible photos for a little effort!

Beautiful hike! Not a long hike, but good elevation gain. We did it with a 9 & 7 year old. The kids had a great time, but they are used to doing these types of hikes. There was a 360 view that was incredible.

Short, but beautiful hike. Unlike many hikes in the PNW, stunning views for much of the way if clear weather.

Amazing views all around, you could see Mt. Olympus, Rainer, Adams and St. Helens! I'll definitely be going back. Bring trekking poles if you have weak knees.

Absolutely beautiful hike! We did this with a group of 6 on 10/13/18 for a sunset hike. Started hiking around 4pm-made it up at around 5:20 and we took it slow with some break stops and photo moments. Very good maintained trail. My app told me one way was 1.75 miles. Had plenty of time to take pictures before the sun set. 360 degree views all around! So glad we had plenty of time to take pictures because I just could not stop taking them! Gorgeous in every direction! Worth the short trek up! If interested in watching our adventure, video will be up in a couple of days!

This hike is short and steep but sweet! The views are amazing! We took quite a few breaks on the way up and still managed to get to the top in an hour. The road up is extremely rough, lots of potholes and ruts. There were a couple of low clearance vehicles at the trailhead when we came down so it is doable for sure. Just take your time!

I have hiked this Mt a couple times this summer and love it! it's a good workout for sure and should probably be rated hard.
There is the seasons first snow on the ground once you get out the trees and start climbing the rocks. also it was a windy rainy day up there once you got out of the trees.

Great hike! This trail gets extremely busy. If you want to enjoy the views and hike, leave early. We have done this trail twice.
The first was 9/29/18 with my husband and 3 year old. We started around 930am. We reached the summit around 12, and were back to the parking lot around 2pm. The summit was super crowded but enjoyable. No snow to be found.
Our second outing was 10/6/18. We left the parking lot at 830 with only 4 cars in the lot. This was an adults only trek this time. We hit snow at the start of the boulders. Trail was extremely slippery but easy to follow. Wear appropriate footwear and take poles. Summit was beautiful and quiet without the crowd. Descent was sloppy with melt but manageable. We were back to the overflowing lot by 1pm with a slow and steady pace.
The only issue we ran into on descent was all the unleashed dogs! We had our Vizsla along leashed and had to constantly fend off unleashed dogs that were left to wander on their own and shove past people on the narrow trail. If you take your pup please be considerate of other hikers and dogs. Not all dogs wish to meet yours.

Steep but well-maintained trail. Well worth the effort. Quite impressive.

Great trail! I use it as a training trail and hike it around 20 times a year. Tough hike and difficult run down. Views are stunning when the weather is clear.
