Lots of railroad tie steps steep and uneven that were difficult for bad knees. Trail hard to follow in many places- so glad I had this app to be able to find it again. Great views and not crowed on a Saturday from 11-12:30, whereas Camelback trail was a traffic jam. Great alternative!
Awesome quick hike. Loved this side of the mountain and didn’t have anyone else with us in the trail. Started at 8:15 am and parking lot was full. Parked at the JW as recommended and walked up to the trail head.
The trail is beautiful with spectacular views. Shares very busy parking lot with popular Camelback trail. Trail is steep and busy at first, but once you get off the main Camelback Mountain trail, it is not crowded. We were there at about 8:00 am just as the sunrise hikers were coming down, so we got a rare parking spot.
This is definitely the path less traveled. Late Wednesday morning there was a conga line of people on Camelback, and nobody on Bobby's Rock. There are offshoots to increase the distance a bit, along with extending off the west end of the trace. Perrigrin (sp?) falcons nesting way up the cliffs. Bring some gloves to facilitate bouldering/scrambling at the west end.
Nice short trail! Had lots of steps and ups/downs so it was a great workout!
No humans on this trail. Loved it.
Great easy spot for pics
Nice break from the Camelback trail. Don't skip, if you're visiting. Great views and terrain. No one on trail while Camelback was packed.
Tons of people on the Camelback part of the start of the trail, no one at all once we got to Bobby Rock trail. Nice short hike with a couple of fun off shoots if you want a bit more climb.

Very nice! Only near the trailhead where the route coincides with the echo trail it was crowded. In general: very quiet
This is a very tough incline and more like mountain climbing than hiking.
Beautiful. Rocky but easy, nice steady elevation gain with curves and wide paths. Lots of people and parking wait, but worth the time.
this is a great hike if you don’t want to deal with all the traffic that the main echo canyon trail gets. However, it is very steep in several areas. There are stairs in some areas but they’re very old and quite a few are wobbly or unstable. The path is also poorly marked, I had to use my map to make sure I stayed on trail. I wouldn’t recommend it for people with younger children at all. I would probably still hike this again. The shade in the morning was perfect, the caves were fun to check out, and there’s a beautiful view of the city the entire hike. I would rate it about 3.5/5 stars
Cool way to “hike camelback” for someone that can’t do Echo Canyon. A lot of stairs up and down, very tall steps. Some loose rock areas.
Loved this “mountain”! We had younger kids with us and they loved finding new trials and exploring the caves and climbing. It was beautiful too and interesting. One of our favorites now in the Phoenix area will go back!
This should have been a super easy trail to navigate, but it wasn’t. There are lots of very steep, high stairs and it’s rocky with loose gravel the whole way once you leave the echo canyon trail. The trail is also not very clear in several places. I had to check my map every couple minutes.
