I was there last weekend and it was easily drivable with a 4x4 Tacoma and bfg ko2’s. The first left looked completely unmaintained while the right turn (the actual trail) was just a bit slick.

really a fun trail. we went in a 97' f350 crew cab with a 4 inch lift and 35s. theres a few icy spots going up some hills. one hill took me a few tries bc of the ice. I took tire chains but didnt put them on. all in all, we had a blast. btw found a chain in the middle of the trail, think in belongs to the guy with the jeep Cherokee in front of me, if your out there and want it back, hit me up on FB. Matt roper (from Casper Wyoming)

I made it through this trail completely with a silverado on a leveling kit 33x12.50x17s also a stock Jeep jk with KO2s and a stock FJ on KO2s deep snow in some spots don’t go alone always have a tow strap

Just came back from Switzerland Trail, it was really nice and easy with great views until we passed Gold Hill Rd going North. Andrea below wrote a warning but I totally didn’t see it. I would not recommend going that last stretch of the trail, at least not this time of the year. It gets extremely narrow and slippery. The back end of our 4Runner (on brand new Wildpeaks) almost slipped off the trail. I was able to save it but we had a really hard time, and turning around was almost impossible. We were finally able to turn around without damage but it took over 2 hours. On the way back we saved a Dodge Ram that was also having a difficult time.

12/8/2018 - A good amount of ice on the trail, so I would recommend spikes at minimum, but a fresh dusting of snow left the trail impassable with about 0.7M to the end (~1.5ft of snow, and I only had spikes on). Most of the snow on the first half of the road had melted, so not ideal for XC skiing or snowmobiling anymore I’d imagine. Only option for parking is illegal street parking.

Super easy good for a beginner trail and just fun to sight see

Great winter hike! Did this one today, and there is a ton of snow, but we managed with just spikes. There were a lot of people snowshoeing and cross-country skiing -- good trail for that as well. The lake is completely frozen over, but the views are amazing.

Great hike! I arrived around 11 on Wednesday this week and parked across from the post office in Glen Haven. I did not see anyone on the hike up and only ran into two groups on the way down. Beautiful and challenging hike. Worth the view when you get to the top! There was some snow, but it was packed...just wore hiking boots and managed fine. Definitely heading back during warmer seasons to check it out, but it makes a great winter hike!

Went off-roading. The road up is covered in snow and not hard to navigate. Once you get to the top. It’s ice
Covered in snow. I was in a Chevy Colorado ZR2 woth front and rear lockers and 33” tires and I got stuck very quickly.

There were 4 dudes in big jeeps who also got stuck. Outside of winter I’m sure this trail is easy. For now, I would not recommend going unless you have a winch and a buddy.

hit this trail again today, plenty of snow on the trail but in my stock 15 Cherokee Trailhawk made it without any difficulty while in 4 low and snow mode, as always a beautiful and fun drive and the snow today made it even better.

One of the highlights of our trip to Estes was driving this road. Fantastic views. Saw two moose about midway through the trail. Be prepared for large ruts and sharp turns. 4WD vehicle with some ground clearance is recommended.

Beautiful day trip from Denver. Decent road with great views.

Beautiful trail, but a warning: there is currently (12/24/2018) a dead end several miles past the Gold Hill Rd crossing, going north, along the path indicated by the trail map. Additionally, along that same stretch, there are some regions of higher snow pack that are easy to get stuck in without snow tires or chains (we found out the hard way). That side of the mountain is in the shade and likelier to retain snow.

Hiked this trail on a winter day, December 22, 2018. Weather was mostly cloudy with temps in the 20s. Had 4 layers on and stayed warm due to exertion. Trail was generally snow covered, 1-2 inches and spikes worked well on this irregular path. Round trip was 5 hours on the Glen Haven trail. A beautiful hike with snow covered hills and mountains. Last 1/2 mile to summit was hard due to 500' elevation gain on this section. Summit was windy but views spectacular. Overall a good challenge hike in the winter.

First 3/4 of the trail is easy. The last part I decided to air down to cut through the snow a little easier. Stock '16 Frontier Pro 4x. Had fun blasting through the snow. Not a bad trail if you're a beginner, but the more experienced off-road driver would find it a bit boring. Beautiful view up top though.

Side note: If you're coming up here to do some shooting PLEASE pick up your casings and targets.

Did this last summer nice hike could do with out the cars though

Guess I'm not the first to take his new SUV, a 4Runner on this trail. Trail as described, it was partially covered with packed snow and some icy spots. Great views of the surrounding area and the mountains to the west. Lots of backbreaking work went into this rail line. Enjoy.

Great beginner snowshoe trail! Wide, packed trail easy to snowshoe on. 4 stars because once we got to the clearing, we were confused on which way to go and accidentally went the wrong way, lol. Still gorgeous nonetheless! Steady incline uphill on the way out. Drive to Henderson Mine, veer right down the dirt road (need AWD, 4x4) and the parking lot will be soon after on the left. There’s a Jones Pass Trailhead sign so you know you’re in the right place. Bring layers (gets windy!), water, and whatever you need for altitude (you’re up at 12,000 feet!). 12.11.18.

My fav snow shoe spot close to denver. Always guaranteed to be a winter wonderland. Take the fork to the left for skiing and snow showing. To the right there is snowmobilers. My dog loves this trail!

Drove this on 11/25/18 with the Larimer County Mountaineers 4x4 Club. We had over 30 off-road vehicles in our group. Great fun with lots of early season snow and decent puddles. One hill about halfway through had some ice and a number of vehicles had to be pulled up with a winch. Went fine if you aired down your tires and kept your momentum up. Can make a nice loop back to Rustic and for that reason this is a nice day trip, not too difficult.

great snow right now!

Beautiful, great views, clean trail. My wife and I took the trail from near Glacier Lake down to the trailhead at Sugarloaf. Mostly snowpacked and no problem for our 2017 Jeep Renegade.

Pretty solid drive, I got stuck in the snow twice because I am an idiot. That being said we used the trail network to get to St. Mary’s. Snowpack there is pretty firm, taste 7/10, texture 8/10. Some of it definitely had a distinct Cheesecake Factory smell, but that might have just been the mink poop.

Easy road, lots of great views, we did it into the night and was still very fun

Super easy for a Jeep, mostly just good views, there’s a couple spots along the way to pull off and check everything out.
