Followed directions to trailhead. Used app recording to insure we were on the correct path. First surprise was a steeper descent to the stream from the start. Trail narrows at the stream so we backed up and aborted this trip.

Great trail, went out for a short day hike today and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful bluffs over looking the lake, lot's of ups and downs. I look forward to completing the whole trail.

Great trail!! Some narrow parts with a slight hill but smooth easy walking the entire way!! Brought my dog on both occasions and it was great! Great views, beautiful trees. Peaceful and quiet. Not too many people despite the amount of cars in the parking lot.

great for a family hike.

Beautiful and very easy

You want wild flowers then go here!!!

Also very underrated waterfall, photos don't do it justice.

First old mine is cool, second is not.

The signage on this trail is absolutely nonexistent and we ended up getting lost and having to walk a dangerous road back to our car with our 5 year old in tow! Whoever wrote the description on this app didn’t bother to say which trailhead to take, right or left? Saw zero wildlife on this “wildlife trail” and there are some beautiful open meadow spots but not very much tree coverage so most of this hike was HOT. US Forest service needs to do major work to this trail before anyone should consider hiking it!

Steep trail, but beautiful waterfall early on and great tree coverage at the start. “Lake” and mine at the top are so so.

Easy trail for sure. Good portion of it shaded. Great for kids or for trail running. Well marked trail with nice views. Good place to take out of Townes not used to the elevation.

My family, husband, son (21) and daughter (19) decided to hike this steeper ascent trail as my knees are great going up but kill me on downhills. We parked at the southeast Massive trailhead and hiked the road the 2 miles to the sw trailhead.
This sw hike is no joke, very steep and while nothing hurt on me, it was just hard. You reach the saddle where the sw and se trails meet then you go up the last .3 to the summit. It's a fairly easy ridge but you're scrambling some. The views are amazing!
We descended down the 6+ mile se trail which still bothered my bad knee but the sw trail was not doable at all for me which is why we parked where we did and made it a loop. The mileage is about the same if you do it that way vs the out and back on the se trail.
I'd say if you have good knees and a very steep descent doesn't bother you then the sw trail shaves off about 5+ miles.

Awesome hike. I would rate this hike as difficult. I did it as a youth more than 40 years ago and it hard then. I am 57 years old my wife and I did this beautifull hike today. it took us 6.5 hours to complete. We took our time a we were rewarded with breath taking views just above timberline. I would highly recommend this lightly traveled trail.

Very very pretty!

This was a great 5.5 miles venture, 2.3 miles was the upper loop. There was a couple other out and back trails, not included in the 5.5 miles. Took two moderately active people an hour and 45 minutes. Saw a coyote.

beautiful loop. Love the mountain view.

I took a friend from out of town on this trail on Tuesday and we were almost completely alone. We saw one other couple on mile one then no one for the entire rest of it. It was great, the views form the pass were awesome. We sat on a rock and ate lunch, you have a great view of Mount Evans from there. The 4 solid miles of climbing wasn't the easiest but certainly not too bad. I took someone who lives at sea level and he did just fine with it.

Hiked on 8/8/2018. I agree that the trail should be marked moderate. Still some nice flowers around. Skies were hazy due to smoke. Thus, visibility was not as great as it should be. Continued on to the CDT and Jones Pass for a nice round trip. Jones Pass was clear of all snow drifts. I couldn't find a clearly marked route to the CDT so I just picked what appeared to be the least steep route up to the ridge.

Great place for a nice hike in the area!

I’m not an experienced hiker so not sure how to rate... but very enjoyable... 2 hours ( for me) up to Gore Ridge Trail... then turned around ... I went slowly with plenty of rest stops .... beautiful views along the way... and wonderful smell of the lodge pole pines ... 1 hour 15 minutes down ... although parking lot at trailhead was just about full I really didn’t encounter many people ... the people I did see along the way just gave a friendly “Hi” and carried on ... I post a pic I took at the bottom... pretty much says it all ... steep initially but levels out ... don’t get discouraged! Some areas require navigating over tree roots and rocks but nothing too daunting .... after you get to the Eagles Nest Wilderness Area the trail becomes more interesting... passes in and out of meadows and trees ... very nice!

Love this trail and run out there as much as possible. Mostly single track with hard packed dirt and some rocky areas. Just enough elevation gain and technical sections to make it interesting. Mix of shaded and open sections. DORBA does a great job of maintaining the trail. The only downsides are that it can get really crowded with mountain bikers and there are a ton of copperheads out there depending on the season.

Great views. Nice moderate hike.

Begins with incline and becomes more gradual. Along creek for most of hike.

Absolutely beautiful trail. Should be rated moderate instead of hard in our opinion

Wildflowers are past peak but don't let that stop you from enjoying this moderate hike that takes you above treeline.

Some cool mining ruins at the top and a very cool waterfall about 1.5 miles into the hike.

We arrived just shy of 9am Saturday morning and parked about one-third of a mile from the trailhead. It's a short, bumpy dirt road with a few potholes but nothing a sedan can't navigate - we saw several sedans in the parking area. Just drive carefully.

Had to much fun. It was beautiful and not very hard. There was a cool abandoned car at the top. Bring a rain jacket because weather can change fast up there! We got pegged on with hail. Quite the adventure tho! Would go again.

It was a great day with my husband. This was our first hike and it was fun. It was too bad for heat wise. It rained and it was beautiful.

This is my favorite hike in Granby now. The scenery is spectacular. The trail keeps your interest throughout. The streams and waterfalls are beautiful. I took a drink out of a waterfall coming directly from the top of the mountain. It was delicious. I recommend bringing a “Lifestraw” with you. It will cut down on having to bring water bottles. The trail is full of water features. The trail is not real steep. It has a nice mix of inclines, declines and level terrain. I advise wearing shoes with hiking soles. A lot of the area is rocky. Highly recommend. .

Beautiful mountain views and lake, great trail and several other trails to take if you want.
