Good hike great view. I dropped a small bag with my python hammock straps - if anyone finds it holler back :(

Steady incline and amazing views of the ocean! Not very shaded but good for an overcast day

Great close by hike with beautiful views and fun walking through the ruined house and waterfall. We started early (7:45 AM) so trail was empty. We started counter clockwise on Solstice canyon rd . We finished the loop in an hour and 15 minutes so decided to do it again this time clockwise starting with the rising sun trail which is a harder uphill. Ended up having a picnic at the ruins on our way down. Great workout and fun hike! Trail got pretty busy around 10 AM .

Nice hike with good views of the Santa Monica and Malibu piers as well as PCH and downtown Los Angeles. The posted route features a small loop in the middle but is not a loop itself. Cool stone maze at the top overlooking Santa Monica and a beautiful view of the Malibu lagoon at the other end. Not busy at all and dog-friendly.

A beautiful park with well maintained and clearly marked trails. Parking at the trailhead is very limited and fills up fast. Rather than waiting for someone to leave we parked at a scenic overlook just up the road from the park entrance and walked the approx 3/4 mile to the trailhead.

We chose to do the loop counter-clockwise. The Solstice Canyon Trail is an old road bed, largely paved, but very degraded in sections. We saw folks pushing baby strollers up to Tropical Terrace. It's more of a walk than a hike, but it is definitely up hill all the way. It's shadey and canyony. Quite lovely. It ends at Tropical Terrace, the site of an old residence. It's a beautiful setting with lots of non native tropical vegetation. This is also the site of the waterfall, barely a trickle on our visit after our long, arid spring and summer.

We chose the Rising Sun Trail for our return. This is truly a hike. It's a trail, not an old road. After a quick and easy stream crossing there is a long slog uphill, nearly to the crest of the ridge in front of you. It will get your heart rate up, but it's very doable. Sections have steps built into the hillside. Once the crest is reached, there is a long traverse with beautiful canyon and eventual ocean views. Then the trail descends back to the trailhead.

This is a beautiful hike easily done as part of a day.

Not too bad, perfect for those who don’t hike much or want something quick.

We started early at 6:45 AM and noticed a lot of cars park already. Coming from Los Leones Canyon entrance trail, it is 1.5 miles of narrow and relaxing hike with trail covered with trees. Then you will be exposed to open overlooking views of ocean and city and there is a bench for resting. Then the rest of your 2 mile trail to the Parker Mesa overlook will be wide and exposed with few inclines that will give you your cardio workout. The overlook is amazing and breathtaking on a clear day.

Nice little quick hike. Seen sea lions and lizards

Good hike featuring a couple of historic sites and vegetation contrasting between desert/mountain/beach (similar to most hikes in the area). Not busy, dog-friendly, quick and easy. Waterfall was barely going, but it being still visible this time of year was a nice surprise!

Love finally getting to Eagle Rock peak to enjoy and take in the fantastic views.

Nice moderate loop trail for early morning or late afternoon. Otherwise it would be very hot (not a lot of shade during the first, uphill, part of the hike if you go clockwise). Beautiful views on the way up. Lovely cool forest on the way down. Busy but not jammed on a Saturday afternoon. Parking is $10 (pay at the machine in the parking lot).

I recommend doing it counter clockwise. East side of the trail inclines slower and has a lot of shade in the morning, but also a lot of rocks. West side is nice smooth dirt trail but more exposed to the sun. So it makes sense to go up slower in the shady but rocky trial and coming down quicker on the smooth but expose part. Overall a beautiful trail with some shade.

Clocked in about 5.6 miles on this one. Beautiful views on this trail, similar to other trails in the area. Starts out with a good incline for about 1.5 miles then somewhat levels out until you hit the summit (past the bathroom/trash cans). There are a couple of benches at the summit to enjoy the view of the coast and downtown. The trail itself is fairly wide, and very exposed with little to no shade. This is a popular local trail so it's heavily trafficked, and as traildummies.com says: "like the 405 - it is so crowded nobody expects you to talk to them." Parking is on the residential street only, I was able to find plenty of open parking on a Sunday morning, but I heard it gets pretty hard to find parking on the weekends.

Keep an eye out for a geocache at the summit!

Beautiful cliff views

Very nice and clean trail. It was an easy trail, very little inclines. About 6.8 miles back and fourth trail. Connects to los Leones trail and got to see that beautiful ocean view. Hiked Labor Day 2018 at 12 pm, very little traffic. Perfect running trail for the way down.

Scenic and historic- good incline!

Scenic and historic!

Great trail and view! Could be more green.

Great hike with the family!

great trail views are worth the medium effort

A great hike for when friends and family are in town visiting. That being said, if you're able and wanting to put in some more mileage elsewhere, you can get much better views that aren't as crowded.

Beautiful view

I haven't been hiking in a while, I joined my friend Yvette today and we had such a great time on this trail. Seeing the house ruins and waterfall and the view of the ocean made our day.

This is a very special walk! Yes, you walk around a nice bird sanctuary lagoon, but the treasure is you can walk right onto one of the most famous surfing beaches in the world, Malibu's Surfrider Beach next to the Malibu Pier!!! In addition at low tide only, you can walk to the right on the public beach zone and view the famous Malibu Colony Community. The paid parking lot is small, however there are many free parking spaces on the coast highway adjacent to the Malibu Lagoon State Park. It is a flat and easy to walk, but bring sandals if you want to walk the half mile walk on the sandy beach to the Malibu Pier. Don't miss this small but beautiful state park!!!

A quick getaway hike that is easy to get to. Counterclockwise for the view at the end. Clockwise for a bit more cardio.
