I’d do it again, but it was a challenge, and there were TONS of mosquitoes.

If you're a beginner hiker or do not have the greatest cardiovascular endurance, you will find this hike sort of difficult. It's steep with loose rocks in some areas. I would recommend trekking poles to that group of hikers.

If you've done any of the more serious SoCal hikes like Baldy, San G, San J etc, then this hike is very easy. Again it's steep but its so short it won't matter to an avid fit hiker. You'll blast to the top in 20-30 minutes.

All in all a very lackluster hike. The area was burned a few years back and still has not fully recovered. To compound things, the trail sees a lot of traffic so there is un-natural erosion, garbage on the trail and graffiti on the rocks. If you can stomach that nonsense it will provide a good workout if move fast and/or carry a heavy pack for training.

just loved it! was perfect for walk and jog and sights were wonderful to see!

Not too bad, perfect for those who don’t hike much or want something quick.

I've walked this trail plenty of times. Usually to take some friends that just want a simple walk in the woods that isn't too strenuous. Though it isn't my favorite. As other have mentioned parking is minimal and it is pretty congested. It's great after showers. If it wasn't for the crowd and location I would've given it another star. Bottom line: neat trail, parking sucks, initial paved road, and congestion.

First time here, and the trail is much harder than it looks. At the fork, I went in the counterclockwise direction. Felt like I essentially climbed vertically until the top. I’m in decent shape and had to stop and catch my breath a few times. The views are incredible, even on the way down (I came clockwise). I went around 9:30 on a Saturday morning, and it wasn’t too packed. Decent sized parking lot, but there’s also a very large shoulder before the trail entrance, with parking allowed after 5am. No dogs allowed, and no bathrooms. Bring water.

Nice little quick hike. Seen sea lions and lizards

It's a steep climb to the top. Great views of the Pacific, Mugu State Park and the Santa Monica Mountains. Perfect place to train and condition for longer mountain hikes. Lots of birds to watch. Enjoy.

Beautiful easy hike. Loved the MASH set.

Amazing scenic trail. The upper falls is a challenge to get up and down but well worth the effort.

This was my first time hiking this trail, the initial climb is intense but well worth it, once you get to the top and the trail levels out it’s amazing and great for photos

Great hike for a Saturday! There is potential to make this hike up to 10+ miles. It was neat to see the old MASH filming site. Nice change of scenery throughout the hike. The earlier you go, the less people. The trail starts getting busy around 8:30. Highly recommended!

3/4 mile walk to trailhead from parking. Crossed 2 different snakes within the first .25 mile of trailhead. One was red and black

Steep incline but definitely worth the workout! Gorgeous ocean views.

Beautiful cliff views

Nice, easy hike with ocean views. My 7 year old was able to do the trail with no problems.

Great trail and view! Could be more green.

Great hike overall. Nice view and workout. Went up with a 20 lb plus pack. I would categorize it as moderate to borderline difficult with that. Bring a map. Found some lost hikers and if you don't know what to look for, you might get lost. BRING BUG REPELLENT. I was destroyed by the mosquitos. Literally around 100 bites on my body. Mainly from beyond the loop a bit, down the valley. Wear loose pants, and bring a rain jacket to protect upper and lower body. Protect... yourself... have fun.

Definitely a fun hike. Not very challenging in the beginning but does get difficult if you want to climb to the second waterfall. The worst part is how far you have to park before the hike even starts. The main trail is mostly covered so it’s not as hot. As dude to the best the waterfall is nonexistent. If you want to see water you should wait until a big storm, which in SoCal rarely happens. We went with our two year old and made it just fine. Enjoy and be sure to drink plenty of water.

Unfortunately chased out by mosquitos this morning around 8:45am. People were warning us before we even started in the parking lot. Nearly everyone was warning us on their way down. You don't have enough hands or lotion or swatters to keep them off you. We headed south to hike at Sycamore but it was the same story. Another time. Temperature was nice.

I had to leave after about 15 minutes. In that time, I got roughly 12 mosquito bites. Every time I looked down there was a mosquito either on my arm or leg. I’m sure it’s a cool hike with sweet views but I couldn’t handle it.. I ended up driving to Circle X Ranch and did the Grotto trail.

Great moderate hike for the whole family. Always nice to see the original M*A*S*H Site.

No waterfall and currently there is a foul smell where the waterfall is located. I suggest coming back after it rains, usually this is a nice hike.

Great workout! Quite steep going uphill and going left at the T intersection. Bring lots of water and bug repellant. I was swating mosquitos the whole time. Still got bit 27 times!
The only reason I don’t give it a 5 star is there’s no facilities at the trailhead and parking is really limited. Fortunately most people don’t stay that long. Also, it’s quite popular on weekend mornings so the trail can get pretty crowded.
The view at the peak is spectacular!

Water fall is empty at times but a great short trail.

Like everyone else said, this hike has some pretty scenary but the end is a huge disappointment. I guess I should have read the reviews more carefully but you really just end up at a gate at the precipice of Malibu lake... So close, yet so far. Wish it would have ended up at the lake so I could check it out.

I would rate this as really easy. Mostly flat with one part that has a 10 minute incline you have to hike.

One way took me about an hour.

Easy hike and great for kids. Lots of colorful dragonflies this time of year.
