Don’t be afraid to go towards the houses. You’ll take a pretty steep hike up to the swings that overlook SLO. Beautiful views. Fun hike.

Beautiful and not hard. Mostly full sun exposure, we were happy temperatures were 80. Sunscreen a must. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this trail. I’ve done it 4 times, and it never disappoints. Always gorgeous

Great hike today. Wide trails

Pretty cool hike. Can be cold at the top but the view is very nice

This is a long, relatively easy in / harder out hike all on a paved road. It is an, exposed trail with breathtaking panoramic views, but no protection from sun, so take plenty of water, snacks and pick a time to go when weather is cool; most likely early mornings or from Oct thru April. My lab loves these kind of leisurely long hikes and I always make her carry her own pack filled just with water! If you feel you've worked up a big enough appetite, the original famous Hitching Post Steak House in Casmalia isn't very far away!

Good hike, my 13 year old dog was able to reach the tippy top with me. We went clockwise and were bombarded with high noon sun... hike would have been a little easier if it weren’t for the heat (still not too bad, late October). The hike down was mostly shade.

Amazing 360 view!

Challenging hike through lovely terrain. Offers nearly 360 degree view of San Luis Obispo at its highest point.

Long drive but no access.

We'll definitely go again because I have a CA State Park Pass. It is a great and somewhat difficult trail. My advice would be to bring cash because there is a $10 parking fee if you don't have a pass.

We had a beautiful, clear morning- stunning views, good workout!

Beautiful hike with rewarding vistas! Fun to explore the boulders at the summit.

Great views. Tough at the top with the optional rock climbing, but worth it.

Finally made it up today! Pretty steep trail at certain spots but the views from the top are breathtaking! Highly recommend it.

Started from Patricia drive. It was a steady uphill climb from the start. I'm 51, overweight, but still managed to get to the very top on the rocks overlooking the entire area. My hikes are mostly on flat land in Austin area so this was a bit challenging. I'd rate Bishop difficulty a 5 to Cerro San Luis 3. The 20 somethings I was with had little difficulty. Once on top, it was a worth it. Surreal views of the area were incredible! Highly recommended. As others mentioned, watch out for Poison Oak and the climb was a bit on the rocky side. I have partially torn tendons in the right foot so just had to pay close attention to each step.

Mostly doing flat land trails in Austin this is fantastic change. Beautiful views all the way up, if no marine layer obviously. I've seen folks from 6 to 86 on this trail. As a side note, I lost my wallet on the trail. After realizing later, we went back and found it by a billboard fully intact. Folks here are top notch. As a plus, multiple breweries within 2 miles once you're done. Enjoy!

The Bishop Peak Trail from Patricia Drive is an moderate hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast. This hike of of the Bishop Peak Trail from Patricia Drive is well worth doing, great all year long, maybe not so much in rainy season. This video was shot in the summer so very little of both ticks and Poison Oak as hazards if you don't get too close to the sides or go off trail. Lots of wildlife if you look for it, mostly squirrels and rabbits, so hawks can always be present.
So the heading is incorrect for these two hikes and I sent in a correction. The map for the hike starts out from PAtricia Drive not Highland. The other Bishop's Peak Trail starts from Highland.
A Virtual Treadmill video of this hike can be seen on my YouTube Channel, copy and paste link below to watch it. Thanks.

This trail was very clean and wide at sections. You are deceived at first by a big mountain that is just the small peak before the actual Valencia peak. make sure to bring hiking poles, slippery on the way down.

Such a good hike and great 360 views up top. Go early to avoid crowds and heat.

Such a fun trail! Great views at the top, and lots of fun things to play on. I had to keep an eye out for mountain bikers, but they were very respectful in sharing the trails. Its not too strenuous, but still enough to feel like you got a workout. I really enjoyed this loop.

Good hike not hard the elevation gain is spread out over two miles. It was overcast the day I hiked so I didn’t have much of a view from the top.

This was a decent hike. It was mainly foggy, so we didn’t get a chance to see the “nice” scenery. We started at 8am though, so you may want to wait until the fog lifts to actually enjoy it. The incline was fairly decent. We hiked next to a tower too, so we were able to access the Wi-Fi on our phones. Pretty chill hike!

A friend and I tried taking this for the first time. I was not prepared for all the flies. In short pants and no bug repellent. Stupid, probably, but I live nearby and have not needed insect repellent around here before. Couldn’t stop to catch your breath or take a picture without being eaten alive. Finally got so annoying we stop short of a top and went back. I will try it again when weather is different and flies gone!

Good hike in winter; pretty hot in summer

Always a pretty hike no matter what the weather or season

Moderate to hard. Good for mountain running. gotta be cautious.

hiked it today got there at 8am,fogged in, but it was amazing. 4 and 1/2miles ..

Loved this trail. It was a good workout with the reward of stunning views. Would definitely recommend!
