Nice leisurely walk to Tennessee Beach, great side trails which we ended up doing the trail to Muir Beach the following weekend.

Nice crowd, nice restrooms too!

Beautiful trail! Accessible to everyone. BUSY and people are not as quiet or necessarily as respectful as they should be. You do need to reserve your parking space if you are thinking about driving over there. It costs $8. Loved that my husband could come with me. Hes not a hiker and he was easily able to do this. Gorgeous views.

Loved the scenery! I would highly suggest bringing a full CamelBak and wearing very comfortably padded trail shoes. This was a very challenging incline and I regretted not bringing my trekking poles. The decent (going clockwise) was very hard on my toes. For dog people, bring a separate supply of water and a collapsible bowl. My in-shape, 28 lb dog drank down two water bottles easily. Eventually I had to pour from my own water supply but we had a blast! Also, good luck with parking! PS - parking tickets are $63

5 Stars for it’s difficulty yet manageable to complete. Incredible workout especially it’s long inclines....keeps your heart rate elevated.

I caught out after dark going the wrong way on this mountain. Now I always carry a headlamp

My favorite trail in SF

Hiked the loop clockwise at sunrise. There were already a ton of people by 6am, and the parking lot was full. The clockwise loop ascends a wide, dirt road, which near the summit turns into a rocky and uneven trail. The descent takes the Horse Heaven trail, which is narrow, steep and uneven. The morning light and the fog layer made for a pretty cool view of the bay. Took about an hour to hike up and another hour to make the steep descent.

Nice hike in San Francisco with beautiful views of Golden gate . I'm not sure if weekdays is busy as weekends . trail was pretty crowded for that Saturday but it defenetly worst that to see scenario views and do some cardio at same time .

Beautiful hike! It is moderate and goes around the bay :-)
Nice views of Golden Gate all the way. If you want to hike all the way to Golden Gate, you need to walk through BEAUTIFUL homes in SF! The one's which are like my Dream Homes! Oh well moving on, the hike is simple walk from the trail end to GG.

I would rate this hike as easy / moderate! Some elevation which is nullified by the beautiful views.

A harder hike than I remembered. A very steep incline and no plateaus. But so beautiful to look out over the bay. I can’t believe how many jerks hike with there stereos! It is called headphones, or, or... or you could actually hike and listen to the sounds of outside. I gave it a 4 Star because I remember hiking this and maybe only seeing a few people, but now it is a highway. A nice, difficult hike that is overrun.

One of my favorite hikes in mount tam. Perfect level of difficulty with some steep climbs, gorgeous views, and it’s a loop trail.

Great view at the top, took the left trail then went back using the right trail.

This was a pretty okay trail. A little rocky in certain places but some nice views. It as about 10 degrees warmer there than the weather app said so dress in layers! Good thing is not a ton of traffic but the trails could have been marked better.

Not for faint hearted... I felt easy while hiking from Stanford ave may be because I regularly go to gym, carry water as per body requirements. This is workout hike and not scenic one.

The hike is very beautiful with views of golden gate and fairly moderate trail with mostly flat terrain. We got there early(by 7.00 am) , so the parking was ample and the trail was less trafficked. The weather was just perfect for a hike.

Great views, not always clear and usually windy. Definitely a fairly easy walk and great for dogs.

Definitely come here early in the morning. Just went on July 15, and we were glad we got there early at 8:30. Got the trial to ourselves and made it down to Eagle’s point. We hung out for a bit and circled around to the Legion of Honors museum and made our way back down to the coastal trail. On the way back there were a TON of people. Glad we came early to secure parking and made sure we didn’t have to walk side by side with everyone else that just start the trail. Great scenes here and there for a quick photo with the bridge. Will come again soon, but a lot earlier to get the trails to ourselves.

Beautiful scenery and not too crowded. Easy parking and many small trails to check out. Best to come when the lighthouse is open otherwise half the trail to it is closed including the tunnel and suspension bridge which is the fun part.

Amazing, and a reverent, quiet kind of a place. We hiked the bridge 4 to Hilltop Trail, and it was a nice 1.5 hour leisurely hike...

Enjoyable walk with great views of Golden Gate Bridge, labyrinth, and surroundings baths! Would definitely go again!

PLEASE keep in mind this hike is not as gradual as the Ohlone College side and has a tiny parking lot like the description says. I am not in the best shape but a few weeks of stairs and weight lifting prepped me fine for this hike. The last portion where it gets steeper is a surprise to those coming from the Ohlone side but for this Stanford side it's a cakewalk. I'd just recommend hiking shoes/shoes with crazy good grip for that last part because some patches of dirt could cause you to slip going up or down. Like everyone else has said, bring lots of water. I'm 5' 11" and over 250 lbs so I finished a 4L Camelbak during this hike and it wasn't even that hot. Overall though I really enjoyed this hike (because I prepared for it lol) and I'd recommend starting before 7am if you go on a weekend.

I love this hike! I use this hike/workout as a benchmark to test my fit level.

Go early. Always take LOTS of water.

The hike is strenuous-not for first timers or extreme overweight.

Go early, parking can be rough. Lots of water specially with high 80’s-90’s temperatures and good sunblock. Have good grip shoes as the way down can also be rough because it can be pretty steep. Not for the wussy minded that easily give up.

Way too many people. The Hike is hard; straight up and straight back down- not particularly scenic. Lots of people bring personal speakers and blast their music as they hike, so it's really not peaceful in any way unless you go there before anyone else arrives in the morning.

Great views, stairs help with the steeper paths.

Dogs are not allowed. We brought our dog, immediately saw signs that said no dogs, but took him anyways because we were already there and got a stern warning from a ranger.

Amazing views of all sides of the bay. A steep start. Picnic tables at the top. Worth going to summit of mt Livermore
