Amazing views throughout and wide, well kept trails.

I little disappointed it was overgrown. But the biggest disappointment was all the new construction for housing development.

Nice start with good views and pretty scenery, but the detour is overgrown and more difficult than the rest of the trail.

We started early at 6:45 AM and noticed a lot of cars park already. Coming from Los Leones Canyon entrance trail, it is 1.5 miles of narrow and relaxing hike with trail covered with trees. Then you will be exposed to open overlooking views of ocean and city and there is a bench for resting. Then the rest of your 2 mile trail to the Parker Mesa overlook will be wide and exposed with few inclines that will give you your cardio workout. The overlook is amazing and breathtaking on a clear day.

Just hiked this today. Started a little late and didn't have enough time to get to the end, but really enjoyed the hike. My friend and I started from the end...It's at Vogel Flats on Big Tujunga Rd. I don't really see how this is any different than many hikes in Angeles NF as far as trail conditions. It is a single track trail, but I had absolutely zero problems following the trail. It is slightly "overgrown", but very much passable with no problems. There are sandy areas where the trail has slightly slid downhill, but I never felt like it was dangerous. The few trees I saw that were down were easily passed by. I'm 5' and it was not an issue getting over them. It was shady and beautiful. I hiked up about 3 miles from the bottom and had no issues. It does suck at the bottom near all the river crossings how disrespectful the people are with their trash and bathroom trash. I'm so looking forward to completing the hike from bottom to top. I wouldn't let any of the reviews prevent you from doing this hike. I would suggest doing it from the bottom up instead of upside down. If you're an experienced hiker these are non-issues. =)

Hiked this with a friend at 5am. The basic info you need to be aware of at this point is that this trail is pretty difficult to follow after about 1.5/2 miles. We followed along with the trail on the app, but were unable to follow a trail to the end of the hike. We made it most of the way, but with about 1/4 mile left, right before what seems to be largest of the water crossings, the trail was gone. We attempted to get across near the general area that the trail was supposed to lead through, but no dice. Very overgrown in areas, and the trail is basically washed out in a couple of very sketchy spots. I think this trail needs to be re-blazed by some people who are more familiar with what the trail once was. Bring a lot of water - there is a decent amount of rocky ascent, but most of it is shaded. Still a good workout. There wasn't much trash, as a lot of the previous reviews have mentioned there being. Someone must have done a cleanup fairly recently. Also, we randomly found a geocache off-trail after about 1.5 miles :)

I am not going to include more detail, as I don't recommend this trail in its current state. Definitely not for beginners. Please bring a compass/GPS if you choose to attempt to complete the hike.

The area would be great BUT I can not understand peoples behavior - I am a dog owner but the one thing is, there is dogs poo everywhere especially at the beginning of the trail, and there IS a trash container there, the other problem is that there are tons of broken glass around so its really danger for animals too - a shame that people use beautiful nature as a trash container - really a shame :/

Goes through a very active bee hive!! So maybe not the best time to use this trail right now. Also, on the way out it’s basically entirely downhill after the initial ascent

Very nice and clean trail. It was an easy trail, very little inclines. About 6.8 miles back and fourth trail. Connects to los Leones trail and got to see that beautiful ocean view. Hiked Labor Day 2018 at 12 pm, very little traffic. Perfect running trail for the way down.

Beautiful view

nice place to hike ..

I like this trail, not really easy but I love climbing. The view was nice, too.

it was a nice little hike and plenty of water to our surprise enough to go swimming but some people don't pick up after themselves and that's the only drawback

beautiful night hike! 1.8 mile hike. Once reaching the cave and you make it to the top! its all worth it. I love this hike. Beware of Rattle Snakes. I saw two, one under the rocks and the other on the cave. I'll post pictures. Be sure to follow me on I.g skyhighhiking

This is a very simple trail. A lot of sun and no shade. it has very nice views of the yellow hills

This was one of the more scenic hikes I’ve done in LA. The views (on a clear day) are amazing and once you hit the peak you get a nice [reward] panoramic view of the shoreline and cityscape. I clocked in 7 miles from start to finish on this one. I would rate this as an easy to moderate hike. It’s an incline for most of the way up (not TOO steep but does give you a workout) but there are many parts of level ground. What makes it a bit more strenuous is the distance. The trail is exposed so bring hats, wear sunscreen and bring water. I went around 2pm and ran into hikers/bikers maybe every quarter mile or so, not too busy. Saw people coming up to the overlook point from different trails so assuming many other trails lead to this peak.

One of my most regular hikes, because it’s close to home. I rarely see other hikers, cyclists or horseback riders. If you can get out there about two weeks after a good rain in early spring, you’ll see an amazing profusion of wildflowers on the ridge trail above. it’s very quiet - and when the hills are green, quite beautiful, compared with the typical desert landscape. When it’s green out, this is a 4. The rest of the year, a 3.

The first half of the trail is fine but the current detour is a nightmare - narrow trail loaded with bees. Also, the water fountain at the campsite doesn't give clean water.

took a long way to the top . I was able to find the path all the way to the top nice view ..

Very pretty trail. I started at 7:30 and there were quite a few people at the trailhead then; it was busy when I came back in. Very pretty views.

Great little hike.. but be careful of the rattle snakes!

Great trail, beautiful views! Would put this towards more moderate but well worth it. We got there early, 8.30am Saturday morning and were only a couple of other people around. Got a lot busier on the way back around 11am.

Gorgeous green rolling hills in the spring time. Very little shade so plan accordingly when it's hot.

Nice hike, bring plenty of water and sun screen.

nice hike,Spring is great, because everything is green. made to the caves and to Castle peak.moderate.

Go in the spring, when everything is still nice and green. made it to the caves and castle peak.moderate, bring sun screen and plenty of water.moderate.

One of my favorite hikes in L.A. if you want to make this hike more challenging, there is an alternate route that will turn this into a 5 mile loop. From the main entrance on los liones, go left and down to cross the concrete. Follow the trail and about 50 meters in you will see another trail on your left that goes up the steep hillside. From there it is 1.4 miles to parker mesa overlook but be warned it is quite steep. You will gain 1300 feet in 1.4 miles, expect to cover this distance in 45 minutes to an hour depending on how many breaks you take. Shoes with good traction are recommended. I take this way up and the regular easy way down to make it a loop, going back this way is not recommended as it is quite steep.

Great mountain bike ride. Just be aware, if you make a left turn farther up on the trail, it takes you to Las Virgenes. Found this out the hard way and decided to ride back from Las Virgenes to Victory. Great ride though.
