San Diego: easy Map

Nice first hike to break in trail shoes for my kids (5 & 8), with dogs too.

Fun chili run through a mix of trails and streets. I turned it into a 3 mile run by going up to Balboa Park and turning around

I love Lindo Lake Park, I walk it everyday!

Super easy trail for beginners and the scenery is nice. Highly recommend this trail for first time hikers!

Pretty sunset

Not bad, went with a friend and we were able to chat easily most of the way. There are some good inclines /declines that are steep. Tread carefully :-)

Disappointment. I was looking for a longer running loop in the area. Route is often on roads with traffic driving by at high speed, trails amount to drainage for runoff, there is litter, noise, etc. Likely better to go into the park and add on a section of a neighborhood.

Currently a .5 mile loop as the floating bridge is out (you do have to cross about a 3 foot log over some water but I was able to do it with a stroller. Very easy & there’s a handrail). Ground was a little wet from all the rain but not too muddy.

Not the greatest for outdoors feel. You can hear the freeway and nearby cars passing by and not really anything to look forward to at the end.

one of my favorite quick hikes, very steep. reminds me of skiing. This one is definitely fast.

Nice easy stroll

Would not recommend...a tad sketchy.

Living close to Mission Trails, I really enjoyed this loop. Since it was my first time at the lake I went all the way to the closed portion of the gate and back to check it out.

Currently there is a "seasonal" floating dock on the lake and you are able to cross and make the loop around the entrance point. Great place for a quick walk with the pup / kids. Parking is free but you do need to checkin with the ranger on the way in since it is also a campground.

Good and quick hike for the whole family.

This is a great little walking trail with some amazing views. Yes this is private property, but it is open to the public, and monitored via surveillance cameras. My favorite part of this walk is the view of the ocean. Could be a great place to watch the sunset.

If you look at my recording you will see the current loop that you are able to do on this trail. All other paths are currently closed for habitat restoration.

Please respect all the ropes and signage telling you where you can and cannot be. Many people like jumping the ropes to get on the cliff edge. Don't be the person that ruins it for everyone else. If the cliffs were stable those ropes most likely would not be there.

Love running here!!

Very easy trail but with one pretty big and moderately steep hill. I hiked the whole thing with my 25lb kid in a backpack carrier and had no problems with the trail. One of the people I was hiking with did the whole thing pushing a stroller with a baby in it—not recommended but definitely doable. There were a few other people there hiking with kids, and my dog loved it too.

It was a great view. I took my dog and he had so much fun. Be aware of mosquitoes.

Awesome trail to walk my dog! Don't see allot of ppl. Really enjoy this trail

Even if you don't have a dog it is fun to walk here and "dog watch". at 9:30am walked along the beachfront and along the path on the peninsula/island that protrudes in the inlet. lot's of birds and beach plants--the sandy path has signs identifying the pickleweed that grows here. Saw a few homeless people here. Not a bad place to walk/run.

An awesome trail for running, and working on steep inclines!

Easy to follow, fire/utility road is main trail. Some good elevation swings make it challenging!

This was a beautiful walk around the Santee Lakes. We were surprised to have such a nice park in our backyard and never know about it. You do have to pay $5 for parking.

It is not possible to walk around Lake #1 as shown in the trail. There is a fence blocking it from a complete loop.

Once you get to lakes 6 & 7 you are on the camp grounds, still nice, but not on the waters edge. Also as you leave the camp grounds and come back along the edge of the lake there is no more pavement, we were able to get by in the stroller, but would not go that far if you have one.

Another important note is that pets are not allowed at the lake unless you are staying at the campgrounds and even then there is limited designated area where you can have them.

Overall this was a nice walk and we will be back, probably having a BBQ or two as well.

Super easy, short trail, which was great for my young kids, who are new to hiking.

We went to Sunset Cliffs to take a walk, get out in natural and enjoy the sunset. I knew I wasn't there for a challenging hike. This was a post Thanksgiving recovery hike since I was dealing with many blisters from a previous hike...this was perfect! it provided incredible views and allowed us to climb and explore so we could be kids again for a little bit.

As of Thanksgiving 2018 this trail is still under construction but it did not hinder our experience in any way.

Gorgeous buildings, fountains, and museums to see, keep walking along the sidewalks, under the eucalyptus and fig trees and see the trails in the mini-canyons that are fun to explore too. Walk along the bridge too, great view of the downtown area.

Great hike for kids and dogs!

This was not my favorite trail. It was fairly uneventful walking around. The trail is easy to access and is very wide. There are a lot of snake signs so make sure to keep your animals on a leash and out of the tall grass.

If you are close, it would be great walk that is not on the streets, otherwise I might go somewhere more scenic.
