great view from the top. be on the lookout for snakes. there have been reports of rattlers.

This is a nice little trail, It takes about 30 - 35 minutes to summit with a good pace. Great for interval running or if that’s too easy, run it

OVERALL: 4.5/10 SAFETY: 1. Beware of this trail during bloom if you suffer anaphylaxis from bee stings. the trail narrows, and you have to push through bees to advance. Bring a fast epinephrine injector or adrenaline/needle. 2. This trail is sparsely signed. Bring GPS or phone as not to get lost. 3. This trail is dog friendly. Ask owners before petting! REVIEW: Great experience. Comprising of a mix of soft to challenging inclines, this trail rises past a false summit to a long but gorgeous period of intermittent rolling hills and hillsides. As it nears the peak, the journey transforms into a battle against the mountain, as tougher inclines meet rocky scramble. Reminiscent of Cowles Mtn. in various repects, it varies greatly in both distance and experience. A natural trail with no manufactured erosion control, you are at the mercy of hundreds of recent years of nature. At a little less than a five mile round trip, this hike presents an effort-filled joy that is perfect for a half-day or less. Please budget for both time and water, as both are mandatory for this trail. This trail is a few days of maintenance short of perfect. Whether your aim is exercise, training, or enjoyment of the outdoors, this true Jewel of Jamul is for everyone. It is a must-hike for anyone who cares about the experience as much as the calories burned. A wonder that I am glad to have experienced!!! Will hike again.

No shade at all so definitely bring a hat, water, and sunscreen. Also bring bug repellent since there’s a lot of vegetation so there’s more bugs out there than usual.

I’ll say this was one of the easiest hikes I’ve been on recently. Definitely recommend it , if you’re a beginner. Make sure to take a hat & dress appropriately because there is absolutely no SHADE.

This is definitely an uphill workout. Great for getting into shape. As a beginner I wouldn’t trust myself to fly down on the way back. Way too steep with lots of rocks for a bumpy way down

Walked it this morning for the nth time. First time since last fall. The heavy rains this winter have take a toll on parts of the trail here erosion has become quite significant. Still a good workout, though. Especially the last half mile to the summit.

Awesome hike!! We made it to the top and the flags were there( we were told it was removed). Beautiful view from the top. I’m sure to do this hike again

Second time we hiked this trail. It was epic because it was an overcast day but still super green with wildflowers. We especially like that it isn’t crowded and there is a ridge over a canyon and water in the creek. Bring your epi-pen if you are allergic to bees. Excellent hike!

great views, the last 1/4 mile is very steep, but overall a moderate hike

Good hike , flag has been removed . No shade so have a hat and water.

Hike was ok. A lot of loose rocks. View was descent. Not bad to get some exercise in.

Good hike. Nice climb. Sun came out. Trail in good shape. Nice views

terrible hike. it used to be more challenging and more straight up. now its zig zag all the way up like cowels. and the path is about 6 inches wide and full of stickers all the way up. cant even walk side by side.

Very good spring day trail. Love the flag at the top. We went on Memorial Day, it was congested. Everyone was friendly, mountain bikers were a bit annoying, but polite. Good hike halfway for kids under 8. Steeper towards the end. Don’t go on a hot day!!!!

It was a decent hike, going up a mountain on winding trails. A patriotic American and POW flag with an amazing view. Great family hike, I highly recommend it for a nice relaxing hike.
