Beautiful place

Was a good hike, surprised how fast it went at a waking pace.

I love that height it's so green

that hike isn't that shady because of the fire a long time ago I only hiked the part way not that good to me you should try Big Rock Trail I recommend

Good workout for sure. Took about 3 hours with a few breaks throughout. The trail terrain changes quite a bit from dirt, to moss, to rocks. Definitely wear good shoes. Didn’t think the views were outstanding. Don’t think I would hike this again.

I have been wanting to do this one for a while. There was no water when I went but it was still pretty cool. To get there it is all down hill, that means it is a pretty steep hike on the way back. Every one says it is crowded. I went late afternoon and there were only a handful of people out. Most of the time I was just completely by myself. Cool hike though!

Nice trail with a gradual climb for about the first half of the hike up then switch backs finish to the peak give a paced workout to the summit. Well groomed trail and fantastic panoramic views at the top with picnic tables and perch points let you celebrate the trek up Iron Mountain. I didn’t bring or need walking sticks as the trail rocks are easily maneuvered.

I hiked this trail on a Sunday. The parking lot at the trail head was full. The only downside about this trail is that almost everybody starts and finishes at the main entrance and there is one path shared for hiking up and down so the traffic got pretty heavy at times and we were paced by the number of people (and their dogs). I like when there is some dispersion of hikers and trail options that let me hike at my own pace. I love people and I love dogs, I’m not complaining about that, I’m just pointing out that there was traffic on the trail. Maybe a weekday hike would be a quicker pace for this trail. 4 stars, I will hike this trail again!

Short but a great workout, the 360 view was so worth it.

Cowles is heavily trafficked and lots of dust in the air. almost nobody after connect with Pyles

Short but a good workout especially the loop trip. Steep and rutted trail with a lot of traffic. Views from the peak are great. Not much shade, early mornings are best IMO. Plenty of parking. No fee but donations are appreciated.

I thoroughly enjoyed this hike. I didn’t realize any challenge because I was far too busy enjoying the beautiful views, streams and weather. It was very quiet and provided an amazing peaceful hike I would definitely recommend this trail .

Beautiful hike. Difficult but worth it! Start early park closes gates strictly 5pm

Perfect to test our skills

It was well kept and not highly trafficked.

I am a recreational day hiker and this is one of the prettiest hikes I have ever been on. The views going up the last mile are just outstanding.

Amazing views.

Beautiful hike with a moderate amount of steep sections

great hikers and viewers.

Great hike! Probably best to do in spring when every thing is green. Nice rolling hills! Not much shade

Beautiful hike with lots of ups and downs. There are a few steep spots that will get the lungs burning. Lots of great views along the way. Probably best in the spring because of wildflowers or after rain as there is a creek.

Great trail!!! Did this with our hiking team, The Ginger Girls, on November 3, 2018. It is hard and definitely an out of comfort challenge...we loved it! amazing 360 degree views!

Beautiful hike - went out and back., and about 20 min towards Primitive Camp.
Amazing 360 degree views from top and end of ridge. On Oct 20, 2018 - a lot of fall foliage with bright yellow Aspens, and some firefly oak tree leaves. Definitely trail goes up and down several times - as it ascends. Cooler temps because of elevation, starting out at Green Valley Campground.

Fantastic views. Moderately challenging depending on the level of sun and heat you're encountering. Bring more water than you need and do the hike clockwise so that the heavy incline (on the S.Fortuna side), is actually a decline.

I wouldn't reccomend the north trail for mt biking unless you like hike !bike

The return trail is nice!!! You get off the service road .. lot of shade and once you turn back towards the 67 you probably wont see anyone..

Hike this regularly. It's my outdoor gym, gets me ready ready for bigger and better things!

Amazing hiking. All the trail was very quiet so you could hear the sound of nature.

nice hills, good distance, good work out, just not much of a scenery.

Great early fall hike. Beautiful pastoral vistas. Wild blackberries are just ripening...yumm :) Saw a bobcar at 2 in the afternoon, very cool. highly recommend this hike

Pretty good workout!
