Beautiful hike, gave it only 4 stars because there was a ~45 min wait to climb potato chip rock for a picture.

Great Trail, Clean and well defined. Just hiked it today and the water fall is running. Take good hiking shoes rocks are slippery at the Fall! Great place to eat and make the trek back. It got crowded quick so go early to enjoy the place. If you have a dog leave him at home !!! They crowd the falls area even more, nothing worst than wet dog, dog poop in the area you want to enjoy. The trek back is strenuous! Bring plenty of water!

Overated. To many people and dogshit everywhere.

Overcrowded. Overrated. And relatively boring most of the hike. A nice workout and a gorgeous wait in line at the top. This hike wouldn’t be so bad if not as many unprepared and rude people hiked it. Go extremely early if you want to enjoy yourself and the nature around you.

Good hard hike for a nice workout. Did this during summer so I Started at 6 am with my dog and ended at 9/10 am. Start and end with a walk near the lake. Potato chip was a little disappointing and you have to climb up on to get to but still a nice fun hike.

Try to go early in the morning. You’ll bit the sun and the line to take a photo at the famous potato chip rock.

This is my second time on this hike and is fun and challenging as always. I went with a ton of my family so we kept stopping to take pictures. This trail is definitely a leg killer but if you push yourself you will make it! People need to pick up their dogs crap and throw the bags away! I’m trying to enjoy a nice hike without worrying about stepping in dog crap! It’s also very crowded, but really fun!

Well defined trail.

Very crowded, kind of boring

By far the neatest hike I've done. loved walking through the narrow canyon. you can even climb up to the top. soo soo much to see. so many different directions you can go. once u make ur way out u will hit this HUGE hill u have to climb/walk up to get up and out of the canyon and back to the parking lot. once up that hill u will be the whole canyon wide up from the top. I will def be back, hopefully to backpack..

Trail itself was great. People hiking not so much. Unleashed dogs. Poop bags left on trailside everywhere. Way to crowded. Worst of all was the amplified music, seriously invest in some headphones if you really need the tunes. And the mountain bikers, why even try on a weekend?

Beautiful!

This is my go-to trail to hike. It's beautiful at any time of the season. Come early (6:30-7:30 am) to find parking along the road and you won't have to pay 20 bucks for the state reserve parking. It is a taxing hike as you walk up the concrete path right to the top. Once you reach there, just follow the signs to get to the beach and hike along. Beautiful views of the Pacific as you walk down. Beware of high tide as it may limit your hike along the beach (unless you want your boots wet, it is not worth the smell that stays for months!). There are lots of different paths you can take, but this trail is my personal favorite. I rate the trail from the top down to the beach as easy. The hike up is moderately tedious. Lots of sunscreen, water and a hat is required if you go later in the day.

we loved this hike. Alot of people was on the trail and at the "chip". Rain made it a lil slippery coming back down but overall it was amazing.

Breathtaking views. We actually set up camp here for a night. It was definitely not the best spot due to the sand flies, but it was perfectly silent, except for a heli patroling here and there. Such a beautiful sight to wake up to.

This is a really nice hike. It is a difficult one though. There is alot of elevation change over a short period. Start early, understand it will be cold at the top. It had rained the day before and the puddles further up this hike were all ice.

The trail itself is extremely well marked. Just keep following towards Mt Woodson. The first few miles are about 10 feet wide, well maintained and as the trail progresses it slowly gets narrower but never much below about 3 feet wide. The very steep parts all have rock stairs on the trail.

As you're hiking you might be wondering where the peak is. Look for all the anteneas. They are just above potato chip rock.

If you don't want to pay for parking, you can park across the street from the entrance, but it adds about 1.5 miles round trip to your hike and a bit of elevation.

Excellent hike! Highly recommend hiking boots and gloves!

Pretty straight forward, high traffic hike. Start at the top, hike down to the water fall, turn around and hike up. Short scramble through a creek bed, nothing serious. Waterfall was very but there was a large pool at the bottom that was full. Very picturesque, and other routes to get to other vantage points of the waterfall are around. We clocked more like 6.2 miles on this hike. As I said, it’s all down hill to the waterfall then all uphill back.

Easy walk with beautiful views.

Took our kids (7 and 9) down the trail to the beach. Recommend wearing good shoes vs tennis shoes. Was a fun experience and really cool rock features.

Beautiful and scary at top!

Loved this easy beautiful trail
