really nice and easy walk through. bring a pair of sandals just in case you want to dip your feet in the ocean and cool off. great halfway reward before heading back.

Great conditioning hike but primarily easy on the knees and interesting location with river bed on one side and up the hill are buildings .... fun surprises !

The heat was a little tough but nothing too bad.

Nice trail for skill levels. Pretty green and pleasant. Trail could be marked better.

The trail is nice enough but there is dog crap all over the trails and I would guess off trail too. I was there first week June 2018 and was lucky to see a mature and healthy looking bobcat!!

Very easy trail, plenty of afar so the vegetation is happy and green. There are always lots of other people and bikers, but the trail is so wide it’s easy to share.

This is a very easy path/trail. There are TONS of mountain bikers on it so you will need to be aware and be ready to move to the side. I would hesitate to bring younger children on it when the mountain bikers are around in droves even though the pathway is relatively wide. There are plenty of blind curves. The views are fine- I appreciate harder hikes so for me, this is a good entry level path but for others it may be exactly what they want or need. Bonus points for the Sunday Farmers Market at the parking lot from 10-3. Great fruit offerings were available.

Beautiful hike! Good elevation and lovely views. We were hiking, but saw a mountain biker, a trail runner and a dog walker on our trip. Went with our 3 kids, ages 10, 8 and 3 - it was challenging enough to be fun, but doable enough that no one was whining.

Much more beautiful than expected. Many short trails, viewing stations and benches, TONS of green grass and area to picnic. They also have some cool bridges and small areas for kids to play. Very well-kept and a north county secret as it was pretty quiet when we went on a weekday. If the parking outside is full they want you to pay $3 to park within the park, fyi. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful trail, your gonna want to keep going so check out del dios gorge trail. Worth worth it!

I went out here to test the trail for running, as Afoot and Afield had listed it as a nice trail run. This is a really pretty, easy hike that has a lot of shady areas, a rare occurrence in San Diego. However, it is NOT suitable for running! Lots of river rocks and unstable surfaces make it unsafe for running. I'll stick to walking next time!

- I was grateful we chose to go UP the grade, to your right from the parking lot, which meant we went DOWN the goat hill section.
- partial shade when you are down in the canyon
- lots of lizards, some wildflowers, some birds, thankfully no snakes!
- very few other folks out
- flat canyon-top 1.5-ish mile segment of the trail that backs up to the parking lots of tech offices
- although dogs are allowed, this trail is very narrow in parts, and the volume of plants with burrs and “stickers” would have me leave mine at home for this one.
- view includes houses and businesses- about 1/6 of it you feel totally “in nature”
- I echo what others have written- most photos shown (another user’s) are NOT from this trail- they are from Los Penasquitos Canyon trail.

People! If you bring dogs, don't leave the dog crap-bag next to the trail. Pick it up and don't be lazy. BETTER YET, leave your pet at home.
Trail was decent, not crowded, and had benches here and there.

Good hike, 1st leg of the Coast to Crest...not difficult since it is flat.

Scenerie is beautiful, the terrain is not good for biking. There is too many rocks to enjoy the ride.

Short hike, not much elevation gain. Making it a good start for people who are well out of shape. Also just a nice stroll through some nature. Probably go back for some trail running

It’s just walk not a hike

Standard loop. Not too exciting for me

The place of after-lunch-walk for QComm employees.

Trails aren’t well marked and lots of rock along the trail. However, the scenery is pretty and it’s not too crowded.

SMASH AND GRAB victim at the trailhead at San Dieguito and Montien. Some POS stole a bag with my dog’s backpack. A RuffWear hydration pack. What a real ass! It’s not safe!
The hike was good and the water crossing under the bridge fun for my dog. But the thieves who targets trail heads have a special place in hell!

Nice light trail

Pleasant Walk, Loved the nice little shops around, lot of people and activities around... It would be great day out on sunny day here...

Great for beginners in MTB

Very fun. Lots of interesting people and enjoyed the pier at sunset. Huge bubbles were super cool.

Pretty but more urban than we like, not escaping enough for our tastes and we prefer hiking. This is completely flat.

Looks like a work in progress here. The Alltrails map is a little wrong. Once you cross Jimmy Durante, the trail sticks close to the road. If you follow the app trail, it will take you approximately 800 feet to a dead end. Still kind of a good place to stop and watch the wildlife. Great trail for birding, we saw an Osprey and some Kestrels.
