This is an absolutely beautiful trail to do on a Monday morning. I saw maybe 5 other people. Most of the time I was completely alone, and there wasn’t a single other sound. The snow was completely iced over so spikes were necessary the whole way. Great workout — took about 4 hours total.

You’re gonna need spikes! Me and my friend hiked it without spikes and struggled quite a bit up to the top. A hiking pole will help if you have it. It was quite the workout hiking through lots of snow! We enjoyed a nice hot meal at the top and took a nap in hammocks. Definitely would recommend!

Easier then previous years at this time. Not too much snow/ice on the scramble.

We did the hike today on 4/10 which was a perfect weather day. First two miles are pretty easy. Once you get to the creek, it’s non stop uphill with constant elevation gain. Occasional snow and ice, micro spikes are definitely helpful. But we saw a bunch of people without them too. Once you get over the saddle, the uphill requires careful rock climbing skills. There’s occasional wet spots but overall not too bad. The view at the top is absolutely amazing.

A good work out. I’m in pretty good shape and I started to huff and puff towards the top.

Park at “S” curve Marked as Mill B trailhead. Hike in 1/3 mile for Lake Blanche signage. Lovely bench and plaque at bridge crossing is worth the sit. 7-11 slurpee slushee conditions in the late afternoon. Spikes and poles help stability- a requisite for me. My first time and not my last. The lake is solidly frozen with stunning views of sundial peak and Great Salt Lake! Some deer sightings. Lots of run off and trail is changing from day to day. Trail is solid with 3 + ft of compacted snow at top. Decent is pretty sloppy. Ascent is absolutely challenging due to vertical climb.

Great trail conditions first half up! Turned around at 2 mi right after the stream crossing due to slush and snow.

Hiked early April. Snow the entire way, so wear high boots and long socks.

One of my favorite hikes! The trail is super nice all the way up until about the last 1.5 miles. You definitely need spikes the last mile to summit! However, spikes won’t really help you at the top because there is literally 1-2 feet of snow the last 0.75 miles and a lot of water run off at the top on the rock scramble! Super fun and worth the view though! Just bring the right gear and go before sunset :) *Also, people need to carry out your dogs poop bags! Saw a bunch on the trail and it’s so not cool. Respect the land.

Stunning views, nice people, and a great climb. Would recommend shoe spikes or high traction boots, the trail is very slushy!

Hiked this on 4/4 - leaving 4 stars because I don’t love being able to hear cars and highway from my difficult hikes. Wasatch views are amazing and the trail is well marked/traveled. All that said, holy moly this is a relentless hike. Consistent elevation gain all the way to the summit. Great workout. After 2pm this trail becomes VERY slick and wet. If you get a late start like me, spikes are highly recommended. I also wish I had hiking poles. Lots of close calls with almost wiping out. Lots of doggies on the trail but also lots of doggie poop bags on the trail -_- carry in carry out people!!!

Running

Trail was packed with people and dogs off leash. Dog owners, please pick up your dog shit! It's pathetic that the hiking trails are littered with this all throughout the Wasatch hiking trails! Please share this request with other dog owners because the ones who don't pick up after their dogs probably don't read these reviews. Also, if your dog is not trail ready, please keep on leash; I had several dogs growling and barking as I walked past them with their owners 20-50 feet behind.

I forget how beautiful this hike is in the spring. It’s absolutely one of my favorites, especially with there being so few people on the trail. Definitely bring traction devices or you’re going to have a bad time. Post holing is definitely possible, especially on the descent.

The trail is wonderful and amazing. What is not fun is seeing all the trash at the trailhead. I picked up 10lbs. today. I believe most people aren’t deliberately trashy, they are just careless. Please, be kind to nature, our watershed, and the rest of us and look around before you leave.

Beautiful hike up to the top of Mount Olympus. The first half had no snow, but the second half did, which is where I work my micro spikes all the way to the top of Mount Olympus. From the saddle to the top of the leak, one has to ensure they know which way to go due to the snow. The path is understandable. Walk down carefully from the top so one doesn't slide down and injure themselves. The earlier the better as the snow will be more solid.

HikingGreat!Snow

Great trail, though you really need traction. Saw some people trying to do it without... Incredible views with grand mountains in every direction. Lots of snow. We saw a small avalanche about a mile from the top on the opposite cliff around 11 AM today. Several signs of potential future avalanches too. Please be mindful of this and cognizant of the fact the the danger increases in the heat of the day.

Beautiful day for a hike! I wore my spikes the entire time. Super helpful since the snow was slushy and slippery. The last mile was pretty tough with all the slushy snow, but the top is so breathtaking. Watch out for snow breaking free from the cliffs to the left as you’re headed up to the top. Some broke free while we were at the top and caused a mini avalanche that swept across the trail.

It was magical. It was so beautiful. It was so perfect. Good workout. Very manageable with micro spikes. Poles are a bonus. Sunny and warm.
