really a fun trail. we went in a 97' f350 crew cab with a 4 inch lift and 35s. theres a few icy spots going up some hills. one hill took me a few tries bc of the ice. I took tire chains but didnt put them on. all in all, we had a blast. btw found a chain in the middle of the trail, think in belongs to the guy with the jeep Cherokee in front of me, if your out there and want it back, hit me up on FB. Matt roper (from Casper Wyoming)

I made it through this trail completely with a silverado on a leveling kit 33x12.50x17s also a stock Jeep jk with KO2s and a stock FJ on KO2s deep snow in some spots don’t go alone always have a tow strap

Just came back from Switzerland Trail, it was really nice and easy with great views until we passed Gold Hill Rd going North. Andrea below wrote a warning but I totally didn’t see it. I would not recommend going that last stretch of the trail, at least not this time of the year. It gets extremely narrow and slippery. The back end of our 4Runner (on brand new Wildpeaks) almost slipped off the trail. I was able to save it but we had a really hard time, and turning around was almost impossible. We were finally able to turn around without damage but it took over 2 hours. On the way back we saved a Dodge Ram that was also having a difficult time.

Super easy good for a beginner trail and just fun to sight see

hit this trail again today, plenty of snow on the trail but in my stock 15 Cherokee Trailhawk made it without any difficulty while in 4 low and snow mode, as always a beautiful and fun drive and the snow today made it even better.

Beautiful day trip from Denver. Decent road with great views.

Had a great time. I didn’t finish the whole trail because of the snow. Riding solo in a stock 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4 I finally got to some rocks to crawl but with snow on them and no recovery equipment or buddy I turned back. There were beautiful spots to camp and great things to see on the way. I will definitely return.

Beautiful trail, but a warning: there is currently (12/24/2018) a dead end several miles past the Gold Hill Rd crossing, going north, along the path indicated by the trail map. Additionally, along that same stretch, there are some regions of higher snow pack that are easy to get stuck in without snow tires or chains (we found out the hard way). That side of the mountain is in the shade and likelier to retain snow.

I had a great time on this trail, I did it with a modified Jeep TJ sport with 33 inch tires. You could get through this with a stock Jeep but it will be more enjoyable with a lift and a sway bar disconnect. There is one section with about 2-3 ft of snow but it is passable. I got stuck however in a little off-trail - way too much snow. It is definitely doable right now if you are smart, as there is not too much snow for most of the trail.

At the very beginning there is a 30 yard ice hill but I had no problems climbing it. Just have a little guts and go for it :)

Those who live in the mountains will expect this but I will add there is about 2 spots on this entire trail with service so come prepared and plan wisely.

I would definitely recommend going on this. I cannot believe how far up some of those houses are! Insane.

Guess I'm not the first to take his new SUV, a 4Runner on this trail. Trail as described, it was partially covered with packed snow and some icy spots. Great views of the surrounding area and the mountains to the west. Lots of backbreaking work went into this rail line. Enjoy.

relatively low traffic. Snow and ice were a problem for mild vehicles. Will try again with nicer weather. Some moderate areas with the harder stuff deeper in trail.

This is a great place that is fun and great trails. We have even camped here before. Greet for taking the kids.

Fun trail with great views from the top.

Long hike filled with rolling hills and great views. This trail is a heavily trafficked atv road but everyone was very respectful of hikers. The hike is more than worth the reward as Crysatl Mill is an unbelievable sight.

Drove this on 11/25/18 with the Larimer County Mountaineers 4x4 Club. We had over 30 off-road vehicles in our group. Great fun with lots of early season snow and decent puddles. One hill about halfway through had some ice and a number of vehicles had to be pulled up with a winch. Went fine if you aired down your tires and kept your momentum up. Can make a nice loop back to Rustic and for that reason this is a nice day trip, not too difficult.

great snow right now!

Very awesome, only did it halfway due to my tires.

Beautiful, great views, clean trail. My wife and I took the trail from near Glacier Lake down to the trailhead at Sugarloaf. Mostly snowpacked and no problem for our 2017 Jeep Renegade.

Pretty solid drive, I got stuck in the snow twice because I am an idiot. That being said we used the trail network to get to St. Mary’s. Snowpack there is pretty firm, taste 7/10, texture 8/10. Some of it definitely had a distinct Cheesecake Factory smell, but that might have just been the mink poop.

Great trail, the snow and ice made it a little difficult.
JK 2dr on 37’s with 4.88’s and lockers. If there is snow, put a winch on your jeep

Easy road, lots of great views, we did it into the night and was still very fun

First hike in the snow! Just us and one other couple on the trail. Lots of animal tracks and beautiful scenery!

Fun as hell I did in my stock Sahara!

Just a reminder regarding a statement on a previous review, if you encounter a locked gate, you should not go around it. Bypassing locked gates and/or going off trail encourages others to follow in the tracks and is what gets trails shut down. Rollins pass and Jenny Creek are fun trails, really fun to do some snow bashing!

Super easy for a Jeep, mostly just good views, there’s a couple spots along the way to pull off and check everything out.

My buddy and I took our trucks up here. Had a great time. I’d say the trail is moderate but there is one section that is very technical. Right next toe Quartz Hill. The right side was tough for my friend without lockers. He ended up breaking an islet arm. My Raptor did just fine.

Great trail, due to the weather we didn't get to finish it, so it's on the list for next year.

Great trail, did this in a stock jl sport s with an average of ~3-6 inches of snow. Some parts were definitely a challenge but in dry conditions.

Trail is a good mix of fantastic view points, moderate challenges and fun trail driving weaving through trees.

Wouldn’t recommend full size trucks, may be a bit tough to navigate but not an issue for 4door Jeep sized vehicles.

Vehicle: 2008 Rubicon with AEV 3.5” lift and 33” tires. Drove it on oct 28. Clear sunny day and the trail was in good shape. Good moderate trail for someone stepping up from the easy trails. Enjoyed the drive and had great scenery along the way with some amazing vistas of Estes Park and the Range above Beaver Meadows.

After going through the notch counter clockwise we couldn’t find the return leg of the trail 247 and ended up cutting across the only marked trail which put us back on the trail we had taken heading up hill. Has the trail changed recently?
