nice hike except the part I couldn't take due to it being closed.

I love running this trail when I come to visit. I wish we had one like it at my home in West Virginia.

Part of the trail is still closed from storm damage but the overlook is still open and offers a scenic view of the river.

I enjoyed the trail. While you're on the Bay Trail take the Salter Lake Trail to check it out they have a beautiful view with a table to take a lunch break and it's at about the half way point. Most wet areas have raised walkways.

Great hike for the family, especially if your family is a couple doggos.

What a great trail, pretty, just hilly enough and good length. A fair number of people out for a Thursday morning. Believe it when it says “walk your bike “, my wife and I both slid out on the far side of the bridge

So beautiful. Very clean. The trails had picnic tables in amazing area view.

This was a very nice easy hike - did not see anyone else on the trail from start to finish. Shaded so nice and cool. Dogs loved it too.

Pleasant paved trail to walk, jog or bike. It gets hilly with a couple decent views. Overall its a nice place to get some exercise.

Green trail is “easy”, but will “trap” you with the sands... Blue trail has roots in it, sandy spots, and plenty of variation, including footbridges. Black trail has the steepest inclines and greatest variations, including quick turns and rocky areas. Brown trail is a sandy segment that blends with the black trail. Green floods when hurricanes unload tons of rain. The trails are fun and provide decent shade in most of the wooded areas. If you pay attention and go at the “right” time, you’ll get a chance to see deer dash out of the bushes, fox squirrels scurry around, or snakes slither (I’ve only see 3 in 4 years, and I cover a large amount of distance—avoid black trail near the lake to avoid the snakes, though snakes live bountifully all across the state of N.C.). Park rangers will be spotted on most visits.

Pleasant walk. I wouldn’t call it a hike. It’s mostly flat and sandy with lots of pines. The coolest part is how massive the pine cones get.

We enjoyed our hike today but unfortunately Raven Rock Trail was close but we at least reach to the overlook and it’s a pretty cool view over the Cape Fear River. This State Park is well maintain with helpful & friend staff who make sure we are on the right trail.

I run this trail often with my wife. It's very fun trail with an easy to moderate difficulty based on which end you start from. The northern end of the trail is harder than the southern end.

My wife and I hiked this trail together this summer. Not difficult at all and very pleasant.

3 stars for a good clean walk. One side is more scenic than the other.

Bully breeds are not allowed on the hiking trails and dogs are not allowed in the park itself. One star because of that and I will enjoy my hike somewhere else!

Good paved trail

I moved from Fayetteville 10 years ago and pleasantly surprised when I visited this year at the improvements, beautiful welcome/learning center. I took my niece and had an incredible time! We went off the path, which allowed me to see parts I had not previously explored. I cannot wait for my next trip! This is family and pet friendly, lots of shade.

Hiked the 4 mile Bay Trail that is a loop around Jones Lake. Had my 2 sons (20 & 10) along on a July afternoon. We were the only ones on the trail and only a few people were at the park. The trail was well marked and passed through a couple of different ecosystems which was nice. As others mentioned, some of it was access dirt roads, but that was fine as we still saw birds, different woodlands, & what appeared to be good sized coyote pawprints in the sand for a right good portion. No human tracks near them, so it wasn't a dog. Nice overlook spots to sit on the benches and take in a nice view of the lake along with a great breeze coming off of the water. Take bug spray, you'll have to reapply about halfway through your hike. This would also make a nice trail run for training. Park was very clean and we did see park rangers on a Gator 4 wheeler while on the trail. We'll be back fir some kayaking & paddleboarding too!

this trail was beautiful and relaxing. It's very peaceful and well kept. Only issue is that I assumed kid-friendly meant flat, which is not so at all and took my still-using-training-wheels kids down the trail and the hills made it stressful, mainly for worrying, but I got extra exercise and overall was a great trip. I would definitely do it again, walking for sure though.

My feet hurt!!!!

I took the Uwharrie trail to Yates Place them looped back on Dutchman's creek trail. The trails are well marked throughout. There is a variety of terrain on the trails from pine forest to very rocky trails. There are lots of streams that intersect the trails as well as some camping areas.

Very pretty area, we do the trail several times a year. The best time to go is when the leaves change, very pretty.

Not worth the drive to to the trail.

I love this trail! The trees are beautiful and the bridges add a nice touch. The trail is pretty shaded in the afternoon. There are a few steep hills that are a great end to a work out if that’s what you’re looking for. My doggies also love to walk on this trail! Perfect for fur babies.

loved this trail. there is an elaborate narrow wood stair case to take you down to the river, where you get a good view of the rocks. saw a copperhead, deer, frogs, fish, and owls. Take all the small extra out-and-backs (to see overlooks and the fish traps). the fish traps are igneous rocks in the river used by native Americans to trap fish. it's very humid in the summer, but shaded almost the whole time. there is a lot of Creek and river water to drink along the way if you have a filter bottle.

Great trail for all activities. Shady, toilets , birds and friendly users. Easy terrain but many hills.

Thanks

Nice little scenic trail that I did with my twin brother several years ago while we were camping in the area. And yes, it is buggy!

The trail is very well maintained. I didn't see a single person, but I saw lots of wildlife including frogs, squirrels, and deer. I did this hike at dawn and saw about a dozen deer that let me walk within 15 meters of them. The entire trail is shaded with benches and garbage cans along the way for breaks. The views are okay, but not spectacular. To me this was a difficulty level and type of nature walk/day hike for a family with young kids. Also, signs have been posted NO mountain biking.
