A beautiful place to hike for the day

I really enjoyed this hike but it’s not the most scenic.

I hiked it in early March after a long series of snowstorms. Something magical about this place. I couldn’t summit due to the amount of snow near the top. This place can get significant snow accumulation.

Was a fun little hike, some snow on the trail still but made for a pretty day!

All up hill but it's an excellent hike! You can walk behind the fall and keep going up to the top!! Great little hike!

Beautiful falls and good hike. But it is not an easy hike, as the ratings say. I would say moderate to strenuous.

Absolutely beautiful!!!!!

Easy hike, even with the loop it's a little less than 5 miles. I took my almost 5-year-old twins and they did the hike without breaking a sweat. I would definitely recommend doing the loop. I try to go a few times a month as it is a decent little workout if you walk fast.

Fun place for trail running

Lovely day for a hike. There were a lot of cars at the trailhead, but did not see too many of the occupants on the trails. Would love to have a better map tho. Will try the Santiam National Forest office to see if they have one. The trails that intersect and wander off led us to a stretch of "private property" per a hiker who rents from the owner told us as she, her companion and dogs were coming from the opposite direction. Definitely want to explore some more.

This is a beautiful hike. Beautiful scenery and the waterfalls are amazing. Must see.

I went back in early December of a sunny day. Bit unclear at times when I came to a couple forks in the road. I looped around the southwest side and the view of Mary's Peak getting swallowed by a storm cloud was awesome! Overall, challenging and enjoyable day.

We had a fun time adventuring around on this hike! If you focus on the points on the map that say they are Falls and not campgrounds then you actually end up seeing two large Falls: Shellberg and Stassel. We walked to shellberg Falls and then turned around and headed in the direction of Stassel Falls. Be careful to pay attention to the trails because the trail to Stassel is not marked on this app but if you head in the direction that it is marked on this map you should find a fairly easy trail that is slightly overgrown but it leads directly to the falls and they are beautiful. We will be back again.

This was about a perfect a day that you could wish for to accomplish this hike. Beautiful January weather and the sky was clear at the top so the views were amazing. The hike up the North Ridge Trail was a pretty significant climb but so pretty. We added on the hike up to the summit and then hiked back down to the North Ridge parking area. Such fun!

Beautiful vistas on an easy loop trail. This old fat man had no problem doing it.

I make it a ritual to visit and enjoy the beauty of the waterfall and trails. A nice little hike for all members of the family. Respect the beauty of the forest and leave no trace.

Great for kids, and very easy to access from Salem.

A gorgeous trail on a gorgeous day! Heads up though! We met the farmer on our way in and he said “in a couple of months there will be calves in the field and if the come up to you the moms might chase you” I asked what do we do if this happens and he said .... “I don’t know”!

Easy hike with great views.

Very few people compared to Silver Falls, with beautiful falls and scenery.

Mostly mountain biking, careful on trails. No real view point either. Still a solid hike if you just want to hike in a forest

Pretty trail but not much change in scenery. I️ would have enjoyed it more if it had a stream or falls. The first part of the trail is super breath an airfield. A little noisy

Very few people on a beautiful fall Monday morning. Both falls were nice even though there was not much water at this time of year.

Perfect, quiet hike. Add another mile or so to summit Mary's Peak. It was a cloudy, damp day and I only ran into 3 other groups on the trail. Lots of old trees, mushrooms, ferns. Smells wonderful. It's a solid uphill hike. I'm in shape and I felt it the next morning.

Fun and easily marked trail to run on and a bonus with Shellburg Falls to be able to run behind it!

The trail is a little bit overgrown. I found the view at the top lacking, but the rock pinnacle was nice to see. I would have enjoyed the trail more if it went further up the mountain ridge.

Beautiful trail. Lots of clovers, ferns and down trees.

This is a fun little hike, only a little difficult incline.
