nice, easy hike with dogs

Very easy trail great for afternoon hike Beautiful view at the top will definitely do this again

Beginner hiker and I made it half way in to the start of the incline. The start was easy after you get going. The desert was very peaceful and overall a pleasant hike in and out. Has some rocky points and washes to cross. Not much wildlife. Lots of cholla along the trail. A few black ant hills. Saw maybe 10 total hikers on the trail.

Easy trail to begin which then advances to more rocky footing and then at the stream flowing into the pool there are boulders to manoeuvre over. Worth the effort in terms of the views and tranquility near the Petroglyphs. Would definitely hike this trail again.

Very cool hike. The parking lot was packed on a Saturday in November by 9 am. I had to hike from another parking lot on the lost goldmine trail just to get to the wave cave trail. Made for long return trip! Anyway, the hike is pretty strenuous unless you’re in good shape. The elevation gain is pretty intense in the last leg before the cave. Definitely worth it. I hiked in running shoes and wished I had a hiking shoes. There’s a lot of slippery gravel on the way down so be careful and take your time. The cave itself is pretty dusty. Amazing views!

Do not go after 4:00. Be very careful bringing kids. It’s not an easy hike at the top. More like a climb to the cave. Takes about 2hours to get up if you are a non hiker.

I recommend starting early. This trail gets busy. It's a good trail for beginners. Beautiful views

Great trail, the view was spectacular

Did this clockwise and glad we did. Great canyon views and different types of terrain. The trail is hard to follow at times at the halfway mark. AllTrails helped out to stay on trail. Had a very nice rewarding hike. Always amazed at the Superstition views.

Awesome trail but definitely not easy! This is my first official hike, I don’t know how but I MADE IT TO THE TOP. A big shoutout to my group who encouraged me to do it!

WARNING! The trail is great! Security for your vehicle is a 0! We had a great hike but when we returned to our vehicle the back passenger window had been busted out and two purses stolen. The parking lot was full all day with people hiking the trails and still the thieves managed to break in. When speaking with the Sheriff, they informed us that this has been a consistent issue at this trailhead.

My first AZ trail. Its about 60 minutes of gentle uphill with rocky path. A few steps where you need to use your hands for leverage. Great views of the desert and rocky canyon walls. Would do it again!

First part of trail was near houses, and had 2 cattle gates, so not so great a view to start. 2 porta-potty's, no TP. Once you got along the trail a bit it was beautiful, but it's vastly more rocky on the trail than places like Usury, or Lost Dutchman, so you are forced to look down the entire time so you don't trip. Kinda ruins the walking part of the experience. Entire loop was 3 miles, but "distance" indicator above would lead you to believe it's 2.8 miles one-way. No waterfall at end; just a slow drip into a stagnant pond about 20 feet across. Pretty up there, and glyphs were cool, but just not a good hike overall due to the trail condition.

Fantastic November hike! We hiked on a busy weekend and all the parking lots along First Water Road were full by 10am. We lucked out and pulled into a spot at the trailhead just as another vehicle was leaving. No parking pass required and there were park rangers at the entrance as people set out.

Not really knowing which way to go, we ended up hiking the trail counter clockwise but it seems like everyone else went clockwise on the trail. I was glad I brought my dog's hiking boots for this trail. While the first 3 miles were nice sand it eventually turns into sharp rocks that would have ripped Hank's tender pink paw pads. I saw some other tender toed dogs picking their way through the rocks as well. My dog's pink pads just shred on that stuff, so the boots were helpful. It seems like everyone we passed had a dog on this trail! It took us 3 hours, as fairly quick hikers to about 10.4 miles from parking lot (a slight detour trying to find our way back at the end) back to parking lot.

Bring lots of water and snacks, we had 1000 ft or so of elevation gain and definitely used 2-3 liters each on a cool day.

Pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon I wanted to get closer to take better pictures of the petroglyphs but lots of family with kids so I will have to return maybe during the week. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be navigating the trails comfortably, Tips there are port-a potty but had no bathroom tissue, bring water prepare to be to spend a few hours round trip I was there 3 hours

Definitely hard trail. Steep at the end going up and down is rough with a lot of loose rocks. But the cave is amazing! Our family loved it!

Amazing hike. A lot of people on a Sunday but everyone very friendly going up and down. The park ranks it a black diamond however I have hike way way harder black diamond trails throughout AZ.

This hike is NOT MODERATE! Starts out flat but as you progress to the cave this incline gets steeper and stepper, rocky and rockier. I can’t call a 45 degree incline moderate. But it’s worth the effort, great cave and view.

This trail definitely borders on hard. The last 1/2 mile will challenge you with large rocks and a steady incline. The reward at the end is incredible. As noted by others, park in the first lot you see once you hit dirt. There is another trailhead past the first lot. You will need to walk through.a gate that should be marked with a wooden sign. We had to secure the sign with some extra wire as it had fallen down. Other hikers told us they missed the sign and spent an extra hour looking for the cave. This trail is dog friendly but is challenging for them as well.

Very deceiving as there’s no actual trail. Best way to start is to climb up to the cave on the right and then down in. Was an adventurous hike as it’s definitely moderate to hard at times. Very enjoyable.

Awesome little hike. Great photo opportunities. You can see the fountain in Fountain Hills running from the cave if the timing is right.

Great trail, beautiful view!

Hiked this trail today. Desert was beautiful. Trail is rocky at times.

This is a great hike. The trail is well marked, but it can be easy to lose in some areas if you are not paying attention. I went on 11/1 and there were a bunch of people on the trail around 8:30am. I would say this is a moderate hike. Nothing too intense, but will definitely work up a sweat! This is definitely a trail I would revisit.

Being recent transplants to Phoenix, we have spent most of our time hiking to the north (Sedona, Oak Creek, Pine/Strawberry, etc.). On a whim this weekend, we decided to give the Superstitions a try, and are we glad we did! This was a perfect hike for a beautiful Sunday afternoon with the family. Our kids, ages 13 and 12, really liked the trail, also... especially the part when we crossed paths with a large Tarantula! Do yourself a favor, and hike this trail!

Great hiking experience! Beautiful views! Started 8:30 am, finished 2:pm, including some water breaks and snack, went total 11 miles.

Beautiful hike. First half is easy, just stay alert to all the jumping cholla lining the trail. Second half kicks it up to a solid moderate. Good workout! Waterfall still had a trickle yesterday. A great reward of a cool, shaded area at the end. We clocked in at 6.5 miles and took us 3 1/2 hrs to complete with a 20 min rest. Dessert was gorgeously green following the wettest October on record.

Such a pretty trail! I’d say it’s on the easier side of moderate, but you can go a bit further at the end to add some climbing if you’d like. Gorgeous views though!
