Lots of steps. Narrow path so lots of stopping to let people pass

Go away! Best 'hard' hike in Austin. If you include panther hollow trail (Big View entrance) it is 3 mi each direction. 1700+ altitude change with 2736+ stairsteps through a shaded ravine following a creek along lower area. Do your share by carrying out a bit more trash than you came with a smile.

Nice, easy urban trail. Not moderate at all. Wide trail, mixed use. Ok for runners, walkers, cyclists, pets. Stevie Ray Vaughan statue on the south side of the river is cool.

The trail is very well kept and marked. We went on a Saturday so it was very crowded. Lots of dogs and most were not on leashes. The trail is pretty narrow the whole way so we spent a lot of time stepping off the trail to allow runners to go by. The creeks were high due to the rain but the trail had chain to help you walk across the rocks without slipping. Definitely a hard trail with lots of steps. Great workout and beautiful scenery

Great trail for a good workout. Some good elevation changes, beautiful area, and not too crowded (so far).
Folks with dogs need to not only pick up after them but carry the waste to the disposal locations ... of course this is true throughout Austin area.

Fun hike!

Fun hike!

enjoy the trail

This was my 3rd ever real trail to do. It was a blast but heed warning if your not a stairs person LOL. Took me 2:09 to finish, my group was proud I did finish!

Skill level: novice fat guy, hahaha

My husband and I love this Trail. We go out there most weekends and are constantly trying to improve our pace. It’s close to home and well maintained. Very good for dogs. Good boots or ankle support are needed for portions of Trail.

Great trail. I ran 4 miles and it was pretty tough. Be ready to put in some work if you are trail running

Love it

about 3 hours round trip hike along the creek there are steps, but not steep. Will do it again for exercise.

Beautiful trail with a lot of stimulus to keep your mind busy when running. There are parts that are very difficult and steep and it can be slippery when muddy. Heavily trafficked on the weekends

great long stretch. however, a good chunk runs through a neighborhood and 90% of this is paved. i personally prefer unpaved, but after a rain this could be a nice option...just dont wear hiking shoes...

Kristen and I did 3 miles of this in the light rain. Look forward to finding more. Very flat

Not too bad but very crowded. Lots of stopping to let runners go by, lots of dogs off leash, lots of poop bags marking the trail. But a hike that gets the heart pumping and if you’re not getting run over by a runner, lots of pretty sights to see.

We had a great hike. Easy. Lots of outlet trails that you can get lost on but still, good adventure.

Good trail but not a lot of scenery. Toughest Austin area trail I’ve completed.

Great hike, clean, but not a lot to see

Nice and hard. Not 5 stars because the natural slope would be better than stairs.

Unfortunately, no falls or water here in the heat of the Austin summer. Still, a great and challenging hike. Pretty comparable, on %incline, to Hill of Life, which we did yesterday. Time for some time by the pool!!

Excellent trail and well marked. Plenty of vegetation, not much shade, but lots of terrific scenic views. Only drawback was no water source at the mini camp area. Mostly flat with a few good hills to break up the monotony.

Awesome trail, about 2746 stairs one way and a good workout. Good elevation variation with lots of trees. It’s not the best trail for summer as in Texas heat you would get thrashed! Make sure you take lots of water and good shoes.

Absolutely love it! Beautiful scenery with numerous MTB trails that vary in difficulty. Great for walkers, runner's and bikers. The dam area is now open again and they did a fantastic job of widening the path and adding new fencing. It offers an up close view of the new dam structure which is impressive. I travel this beautiful trail every chance I get and hit as many of the MTB trails as I can. I usually average 18 to 20 miles from start to finish and enjoy every second of it. Totally recommend it!

Nothing moderate about this trail - it's easy. Great scenery, plenty of space, and well groomed non-technical dirt trail. Some sections are engineered (boardwalk, paved). In addition, plenty of options to add on distance if you're looking for a longer day. I ran 7 miles out from Barton Creek Pool lot and could have completed the loop at probably 8-9 miles. Just note - if you park at the pool, there is a $5 fee after 8am.

Awesome trail. Really densely wooded, pretty, but hot. Fluctuations in elevation and lots of stairs. Great work out!
