The Rota Vicentina is a famous long-distance walk covering a portion of SW Portugal. The trail is mostly comprised of The Historical Way and The Fishermen's Trail. It passes many towns, villages, beaches, forests, and mountains. In the northern section, the Historical Way and the Fishermen's Trail run north to south and then meet in Odeceixe, Portugal. They continue to run north/south through the Alentejo region of Portugal, with the Fishermen's Trail offering many detours/loops that take the hiker to the coast. The Fishermen's Trail portion can be sandy and somewhat difficult to walk on. There is not much shade along the trail. Most hikers go from north to south but the opposite direction can also be done.

This was a beautiful trail! I recommend walking this trail South to North to avoid having the sun in your eyes during the day. Parts of this trail were overgrown, but it's well signed and easy to follow. The views are spectacular!!

Beautiful trail with coastal views.

On the 2nd day of hike we appreciated the shorter route, varied scenery, and oh the paths so well marked. Thank you, to everyone who makes Rota Vicentina happen

Randonnée dans des chemins de tracteur, pour rejoindre un lac au bout de 14.5km qui finalement est moins jolie que sur les photos.

Nice little trail thru a diverse landscape. There is quite a bit of soft sand to slog thru. Halfway point is the beach. Lovely spot to while away some time.

Lovely walk along the coast. Sand in places will give an extra workout. Pretty straight forward, well marked.

I would not recommend this walk. Views are of Sines, a horrible industrial complex, and a lot of the Cork oaks, are dead, or dying. There are definitely more beautiful walks, further South.

I would not recommend this hike. Only because of the part which runs through a very neglected farm, with dead or dying Cork Oaks. The views of Sines, an ugly industrial area, don't add to it either. There are definitely more beautiful walks than this.

Beautiful hike. Relatively easy, although somewhat overgrown in parts, and some soft sand. Villa Millafontes is a nice small town. Almograve is not up to much.

Beautiful coastal walk. At times, you are walking through soft sand, which can be a slog, but it is nearly all flat, so not too difficult. b Both towns, at either end of the walk, are good places to wander around, have some food, and stay the night.

lovely trail. very well marked. some deep soft sand that kicked my butt.

Dec 11 50f strong wind. Nice hike. Took a taxi from VNDM to start in Almograve and walk backward to VNDM. Not as scenic as the PCovo walk. Someone had cleared the overgrown portion which helped but still needs cleaning up. Well marked but this App with terrain downloaded is perfect. We did this hike in 4 hours plus an hour lunch at the end at the Oasis restaurant on the river. Also portions of sandy tracks but mostly easy walking.

Great and fairly challenging running trail.

Beautiful hike along the coast. Hiking along the dunes with inlets and fantastic rock formations. Had Natas and coffee 10 km in. Unfortunately the cafes at entrada do Barca were closed so had to trudge the last 3km to town to get afternoon refreshments.

Good trail combining woods, cliffs and beaches

lovely views. frequently rocky and uneven ground. mostly flat aside from dropping down to the beaches.

Trail along the beach very beautiful but has deep sand. Good for the gluts I guess.

Beautiful, mostly flat. Some deep sand.

Tough first and last sections with steep ascents and descents on gravel paths. The middle two thirds were easy hiking and very beautiful, rural/farmland/forest paths. A long hike, over 5 1/2 hours of trekking but worth it.

once again, fantastic scenery and hike. some sandy parts but ok. a few quite steep ascents and descents that need to be taken slowly but not too dangerous. views were to die for.

Nice mix of dunes and cliffs to start and off-road trail for the 2nd half. Stunning landscape, views and nature up close. One steep descent with 3km to go but otherwise brilliant.

Nice hike, fantastic scenery, small section of soft sand towards the end but nothing too strenuous. some of the pathways were overgrown leading to confusion until the right way was clear. The AllTrails map was correct all the way and was a great help.

Nice hike along the coast but a bit overgrown in spots. Access to beach in early part
