Great trail!

Beautiful scenery at every turn, and very, very crowded. I would rate this hike as Easy-Moderate. Half the trail is literally paved and the second half is well maintained stair steps. Our 5 year old tackled this with no problems.

so beautiful at the top. highly highly recommend. get there as early as possible for parking.

my favorite trail. starts out pretty easy but the last mile is pretty difficult. stick through it to be rewarded at the top. awesome flowers and water along the way to the top. easy to get to right off the highway.

The hike was absolutely beautiful! There were a lot of wildflowers and the views at certain points were breathtaking. It was certainly not an easy hike {especially if you’re pregnant}, but definitely worth it! A lot of cute doggos adventuring, too! :)

Perfect day hike with our dogs. Lots to see and enjoy at a leisurely pace...took us 2 hours to do the loop. Highly recommend.

took our young children and really enjoyed it! challenging but doable for them. plenty of shade and places to stop. breathtaking scenery.

Crowded, but beautiful. Enjoyed the beauty!

Not dog friendly, wanted to hike it but was under the impression dogs were allowed. Once we got there and wanted hike there was a big sign that said NO DOGS ALLOWED. Least to say we didn't get to hike. what a big disappointment. Please, update your information.

Thanks,
Misty Neal

beautiful.

Amazing scenery! Great for beginners

Super busy, great sights. Start early

Hands down one of the most fun climbs up a 14er! Definitely more climbing than hiking!

Definitely gets full of traffic early, and make sure everyone uses the restroom before you park; the restrooms at the entrance are the most disgusting things I’ve ever walked in and then immediately out of.

Beautiful views along the entire walk!

Great route not to be missed if visiting area. Stay hydrated, especially if not used to altitudes.

Beautiful hike. Get there early, it gets crowded quickly.

Amazing hike with 11 and 13 year old kids. Crowded at Alberta Falls; but the crowds really drop off after that. The Loch is GORGEOUS, but don’t stop the the edge. Walk all the way around to get the views. We saw two sets of elk swimming in the lake. Would have loved to go all the way to Timberlake Falls or Sky Pond, but my family wasn’t having it.

The location is nice since it is right off the road on the way into Estes. View are pretty. Parking can be a bit tough. Crowded. Folks need to remember that dogs are NOT allowed in RMNP.

Up and down

Hard hike with great views at the end. Fairly crowded.

As others have said, very tough parking depending on that day you attempt your hike. Also, you are very exposed so don't get stuck too far out if any storms are in the area. At 2 miles out, it gets pretty steep and really rocky. That might be the point to stop with kids. Stunning views.

Did this from Bear Lake to the Fern Lake Bus stop last Saturday 8/11. I am in Rock Mtn. NP most weekend either hiking or on snowshoes. This is my very favorite longer hike since Sky Pond has become so mobbed. I think the section around the side of Joe Mill Mtn is really fun - love the views down to Odessa Lake. You won't be by yourself but no where near as crowed as the Glacier Gorge trail system.

Gorgeous! Hike is moderate with trails easily marked. We saw many elk along the way. We took the shuttle from town because we arrived later in the day and couldn’t park at Big Bear of transfer station...they were full. It was a very pleasant drive up to the hike...and we could both admire the scenery!

Awesome trail! I would mark it on the easier side of moderate solely because of the distance, otherwise it was a pretty easy trail. The trail is mostly shaded which was nice. The wild flowers and the wild raspberries were fun to look at and my dogs enjoyed the access to the lake. I went counterclockwise and think I would prefer to go that route again.

Good for my old dog.

Pretty easy hike as far as elevation climb goes.. it is mostly flat with only small inclines and declines. The burned trees don't make for the prettiest sight but the lake full of lily pads is beautiful! Probably not my favorite hike but seemed family friendly as we saw lots of families with very young kids hiking. The creek and boulders are also a neat part of this trail.

Perfect strenuous hike not far from Denver. The last half mile is deceivingly steep but very doable and worth it. Just hard enough to make you break a sweat and need a breather but not so much that you want to stop. Being above the tree line for the last half mile gives you great views of the surrounding ranges. Gorgeous hike. Highly recommend for a good sweat! In and out with a stop at the top for snacks in 3 hours.

Difficult but worth it! Got to the trail head around 8am, summited around 1 and was back at 2:15. My partner and I took some breaks on the way there, the hard parts only last a couple of moments-had to give myself some pep talks but it was worth it! Way back is hard on the knees but as long as your mindful of the trail and your body it’s manageable.

Beautiful trail - definitely spend some time by the lake if you can! I went in the afternoon on a weekday and it wasn't too busy.

This trail felt like walking through a fairy tail. Just too perfect. We arrived at 4:30, after the crowds were leaving; but the trail was still swamped with people. Completely worth the crowds. Just magical.
