Fantastic views. Light showers the day we went so definitely slippery/precarious in spots. Cooled you off though! Rehydrated and rested at the second pillbox for a while to enjoy the amazing views and breezes.

Saw some parents bringing their toddlers, which definitely made me a bit anxious on their behalf.

As others have noted, the ridge does have some drop offs, can get super slippery/muddy when it rains and has ropes in spots to help you climb up. A couple of the ropes look like they’re on their last threads though so test before putting all your weight on those.

Easy, beautiful hike with tons of wild flowers in the Summer!!

Awesome hike! Beautiful views. Worth every drip of sweat 酪

Great hike, short (relatively) but uphill all the way. There had been some fresh snow when we were there, so it wasn’t too slick, but I imagine you would want crampons on a typical winter day, especially if you’re making the push past Mirror Lake to the tea house. Lake Agnes was covered and it was super windy up there, so we didn’t stay long before heading back down. Awesome views of the beehives, the valley, and Lake Louise from spots on the trail!

Went for sunrise, was raining, dark, and muddy, but cleared right as we got to the top and saw a beautiful sunrise! Definitely worth getting so dirty, hoping to do again soon

Steady incline to the tea house (closed). Lots of packed down snow so made it slippery in spots due to the incline. Some beautiful scenery along the way looking down on Lake Louise from the trail.

Lots of snow up there yesterday. Micro-spikes/crampons were absolutely needed. Few people on the trail because of the snow.
Snow makes this more difficult to get up to the top. Both Mirror Lake and Lake Angus covered with snow.
I would like to do this again in the spring/summer.

Definitely hard in some areas! We didn’t do the out and back but did the whole trail instead. Stunning views throughout.

Lake Agnes views are SPECTACULAR. Easy and heavily trafficked gravel trail with some wooden stairs. Bring cash for the tea house.

Hiked on 11.1.18
Microspikes and poles up to the tea house. Heard multiple avalanches..Attempted to walk to the lookout point but turned around about 3/4 of the way due to high snow, unsure footing and avalanche risk.
Overall excellent hike had the whole area to ourselves just be prepared.

Not a hard hike, easy trail starting with trees and ending in a freezing cold lake. Be prepared for a wait at the ridge as you are essentially hiking w a huge group of people. Fun, but won’t do it again.

Nice hike. Kinda crowded around the pillboxes, but the views are worth it. I recommend hiking the whole trail, not just to the pillboxes and out.

As I tell everyone I meet, this is by far my favourite hike in the world. It is an absolute thrilling adventure.

Great sunrise hike, amazing views! Pretty quick up and down. Don’t let the rain scare you, the rainbow to follow is amazing up there.

Easy access and fantastic views .. each lake offers something different and had a very pleasant experience .. recommended

Great trail. Definitely need shoe spikes, can rent in town for $9.00.

whilst thirds walk is moderately trafficked in early Oct it may bee worth not getting there too early and follow someone else up the trail. We started the trail alone and saw fresh bear prints not far in. The trail was reasonably tiring but well worth the effort. The panoramic views from the top were amazing.

Nice easy hike with great views. The vegetation is quite different from one side of the lake to other.

Easy walk, all 5 lakes are beautiful. It was moderately busy- we saw many people along the way and some mountain bikers. The water is so cold but so refreshing feeling- would love to visit again in the summer and go for a swim!

This is one of the best hikes on Oahu in my opinion! It's somewhat challenging with a bit of danger, but nothing compared to some of the other ridge trails. I see plenty of kids and older people on it, just be aware and don't be foolish. The view from the 2nd pillbox is simply stunning. You can see all the way from Kaneohe Bay to Waimanalo. It's a stunning place that I love.

Beautiful hike...went today...it was crowded...the trail took me around an hour and a half to complete (one way)...the tea house was closed...do not go without you ice cleats..many people came in unprepared and were slipping all the time....i used my trekking poles which were very helpful specially with the descent..mirror lake and lake Agnes were frozen...the view from the top is spectacular...the difficulty of the trail is medium...prepare for weather change...take rests every once in a while...

Amazing Views!

great for a sunrise hike. Go early and park by the beach.

Really beautiful views - not hard at all, easy way to spend ~2 hours in the morning. There’s also an ice cream shop at the beginning. So that’s a plus.

Steep areas-especially starting out. Slippery and muddy in spots. Definitely gave my legs a work out! Beautiful view from top!

This was one of the first trails I did, and it was a wonderful introduction into hiking. Go early in the morning as it gets very busy (there’s a teahouse up there - not Agnes teahouse, although that’s close by) and make the extra 1km trek to go have lunch in front of lefroy and upper Victoria glacier. You’ll see a few avalanches for sure.

Very easy, cute and scenic loop. Family friendly. If you ever want to do an hour or less beautiful trail, this is it!

A very easy hike with lots of views. It’s one I can bring visitors on who I’m not sure are that into hiking, but appreciate being in paradise. If you’re looking for something challenging, this is not it.

Pillbox gives great views of the ridges and the ocean. It's a good workout, but make sure to complete this before noon. The sun beaming down on you makes for a very warm experience quick. after the first 2 bunkers, it's not needed to go any further. I went a bit further but eventually turned back because those give the best views.

I would suggest not doing this on a rainy day because there are a handful of very muddy steep slopes that would make for a not so fun time unless you are wearing spikes on your shoes/boots.

Park by Lanikai Beach and walk to the trail. Afterwards go rest and hangout at the beach!

5/5 because it's a solid hike, brings great views, and is next door to one of the more enjoyable beaches in Oahu!

it is closed now!
