Great hike for my family! Somewhat challenging for my 9 and 6 year old but nothing unattainable! The view at the top, including from the fire tower and the nearby bench were wonderful even on a hazy day! The trails were well marked and a nice blend of natural rocks, small slopes, tree roots, etc. Watch your step and you will be good!

Very pretty trails. Very well marked

Cliff and lake views- nice

Great hike, the rain made the falls magnificent. Glad we did what was recommended and went up the steeper side and wearing a great pair of waterproof hiking boots is essential.

hike was great,as were the views, but the fire tower was locked when we reached the summit at around 430pm. I would have given it 5 stars if it was open

Great place to bring the family.

still closed 8/8/18

This is a nice quick day hike, not difficult at all. what great views at the top just wish the tower was open.

What a spectacular place to hike! I definitely agree with others' recommendations to park at the Route 118 lot and head out from there, going clockwise around the loop. The steep steps are easier to climb up than to descend. Wear appropriate footwear, as everything is wet and can be slippery. Where the Falls Trail and the Highland Trails meet, we took a short walk to the Lake Rose parking area in search of picnic tables. We didn't find any, but instead sat on the ledge of the pavilion to eat. There are restrooms there, and trash cans in the restrooms. The descent takes you very close to the edge of some of the falls, and the steps are still a little steep, so if you have a fear of heights- as I do- prepare yourself for that. Swimming is prohibited, although that didn't stop several people from getting in the water (insert frowny face here). It did feel good to splash some cold water on our faces, though! We departed the parking lot around 10 am, and since I stopped multiple times to take pictures, it took us around 6 hours. Crowds weren't too bad for the first half, but increased as we went down the East side of the Falls Trail. I imagine if you go during the week, or get started even earlier, it probably isn't too bad. All in all a fantastic day!

I think this may have been the most beautiful hike we’ve ever done in PA!

Nice trail circling both lakes with options to bear off onto other off lake trails. Pavilions for picnicking and the views of the lake are just amazing. Clear teal water.

Very nice short hike. The Steward was very nice and informative. Not my favorite fire tower view, but still quite nice.

Absolutely amazing hike and work out! I’m in fairly decent shape already but this made my thighs burn a little and I had a nice sweat by the time I reached the top. It took me an hour with 3 stops for water. On the way back down I didn’t stop and made it in 27 min. It’s all up the mountain and lots of rocks and roots. Not too many places are flat until you get closer to the top. The view is incredible. Make sure you go to the top of the fire tower and take pictures. You won’t want to miss that! I will be back again!

Gorgeous views, a few steep inclines but not too bad. Very kid friendly. The fire tower is better maintained than most, and there was even an informative steward at the top! Definitely worth seeing.

Nice hike. Brought friends and kids (3 and 5 yrs old). This was the first hike ever for the kids and they did great! 5 year old walked the whole way and the 3 yr old made it almost the whole way up, and did make it the whole way down. Volunteer at the cabin at the top wrote them little certificates for climbing the fire tower, which the kids LOVED. Hiked as first of the Tupper Lake Triad.

Hiked 9/27/17. It was unseasonably hot that day, even around 5:00 pm. There was no one else on the trail this day, so I had the mountain to myself. There are some very steep sections but the view at the top is beautiful. My garmin showed a total of 2.5 miles and it took me about 90 minutes round trip.

Easy and mostly flat.

I love this place! Started the Falls Trail at 9:30..Just, early enough before it gets to busy..Because of all the rain the past week, the water and the falls were roaring along! If your going to hike this trail, the one important thing you need to do is wear the right footwear!! It’s slippery, some parts are steep and rocky.. You should definitely take time and go enjoy Ricketts Glen State Park!!!

This is a hike that I've done about 12 times. It was the first mountain that I climbed as a child and a climb that I do almost every year that I am back to my home town. It can be steep at times, but the path is well defined. It can be crowded at times and might best to hike on a weekday if you want to avoid a lot of people. Very kid friendly.
