Roadtrip 2 Map

This was an excellent hike. Amazing views and plenty of places to relax. Ravens point is a view worth the hike. Take lots of water!

Outstanding! Make sure you start early and plan your whole day around it. So much to see. You’ll want to stop and take it all in. Maybe consider camping overnight to break it up. It’s a hike! But a great one!

Went last week to get a feel for the trail and made it just past Big Laurel Falls. Tough hike on the return though! Wish I had arrived a hour or two sooner to complete it. Will be back in a couple weeks!

A trail leads to the river below and is somewhat able to be seen. It was covered with trees and overgrowth. Most points on the trail parallel to the river were tough and had to hold on to a tree and jump across the blocked path. I enjoyed the moderate/hard level of this trail and how beautiful it was! Watch out for spiders! There is an easy trail that goes along to some camp
Houses and it’s a short 5 minute walk. Beautiful as well and paved with rock. Easy to hike

I’ve been hiking here since I was a child. Great day hike and plenty of other activities to do in the park.

loved this hike!

Amazing spot! My tracker measured as 10.5 miles. Difficulty is correct & you hike uphill a significant part of the return. Be prepared & don’t make them rescue you from out here.

Great hike! It is challenging, especially when you hike down to the bottom of the falls because the hike back up is a rough one. I love this state park and it holds so many different waterfalls so I would highly recommend that you try all of the falls out! Also, if you can get a chance to see these falls in the winter, I would highly recommend it!

One of my top three trails.

it's a tough trail but worth it!

Tough going on the way back, but my middle and elementary school-aged kids did great. We went after a week of rain and the falls (all three you come to on the trail) were worth every step it took to get out and back.

We'll be going back to hike to some of the overlooks and explore the spurs.

One of my favorites! Gorgeous and a nice day hike. It's incredible all 4 seasons. It's somewhat rugged for beginners but there is a shorter hike that leads into this one, it also goes on to a 13 mile hike if you want a little more.

This Trail Is small VERY SMALL! but worth the stop it is listed in the Smothsonia as the top 50 in the USA! On Smithsonia.Com and top for Illinois very Beautiful place. if you trail it it dont take long but in my case it lasted for almost 9 hours .Put me in a Wilderness and I'll stay as long as possible and cry when I have to leave. There are a few folks walking around but I seem to be able to figure out where to go to get away from them plus I went in the middle of the week so that helps. beautiful place I was there in Oct 2017 for the fall colors PERFECT!!!!!!!!

what an amazing day hiking! The waterfalls are beautiful, the views were fantastic, and the company was the best! Definitely will be back! Hard to believe this place is only 2 hours from New Orleans!

Great, challenging trail well worth the hike.

Great trail. Lots of scenery and elevation changes.

Nice hike with a variety of terrian. Several camping sites along the trail. Trails are marked well enough that you shouldn't find yourself backtracking or scratching your head on which way to go. I was able to find ways to cross all the creeks (staying dry) after a couple days of good rainfall but a week of heavy rain might prove otherwise.

Great trail. The falls are so pretty after a rain event.

It was great!!!!

Definitely made it into my top 5. We went after a few days of heavy rains but the trail wasn't any harder. The river crossings were a little more interesting and we definitely utilized the cable rope at the second one. Chacos would've made it easier, taking the worry of wet feet out of the picture. Took my boyfriend and I about 5 hours including a lunch break and a snack break, we walk really fast though. Come prepped with water and a snack you'll need the carbs for the return trip. The going there wasn't too bad more moderate but holy crap, the way back, we took a lot more pauses. It's way more incline on the way back. Wasn't crazy crowded even though it was President's Day. A couple solo hikers and 3-4 groups but everyone was great.

I was in love with this area. There are a few waterfalls, backcountry campsites and beautiful views everywhere! It rained while I was out there and just made everything that much more beautiful!

Best trail at this great park! This trail provides awesome lookouts of Cane Creek Gorge, Cane Creek Falls, and of course Fall Creek Falls, and it really isn’t that long of a trail. I recommend doing this hike early in the morning and catching a sunrise at one of the overlooks!

great trail. well marked but also challenging. well worth the hike. I did an over night trip and the areas to set up a twnt are great and right nest to the fall. I would not recommend this hike for kids.

This loop has a lot of great views. Get out there early so you can take your time to soak it all in.

a favorite, especially like checking out sycamore falls in winter

Wonderful hike with 3 beautiful falls to enjoy and a couple of caves. The last mile to Virgin Falls is a booty kicker but so worth it!

Moderate difficulty. Crowded on weekends ;solitude during the week. Definitely the crown jewel of this area. Unique geological features. Great waterfalls. Spectacular hiking experience beyond the initial mile walk in. Should be on every hiker's list.

My 3 kids (age 10 and under) and I did this hike the week of Thanksgiving 2017. We did a there & back starting at Janice Landing and hiking to US 49 before turning back. We stashed food and water on US 49 to keep our weight to a minimum and did this in a 3 day 2-night trip. We camped at 31.02766 -89.09828, which is on a nice high bluff about 50 yards off the trail. This made for a REALLY long second day of about 20 miles, but was necessary as we got a bit of a late start the first day.
The trail is decently marked although we did go off trail twice by mistake. There are a lot of hunting trails that intersect where its easy to suddenly find yourself on the wrong trail. I used an app on my phone that used my GPS location to tell me where I was, which was helpful when we went off trail. The biggest bummer on this trail is that it doesnt have mile markers. You can only use landmarks on a topo map to estimate where you are. A good topo map and a compass is a must. Make sure you know how to use them as we passed two ladies who had no map and thought they were on a different 0.5 trail, when they were actually a mile or two away from their car.
The trail follows the river for much of the it, which provides for decent scenery. I thought the most beautiful part of the hike was being on the top of the hills. The only wildlife we saw was a flock of turkeys and a couple of hunting dogs. There were very few people on the trail.

We did this trail yesterday and I have nothing but good things to say about it. It's challenging, but easily doable as a day hike. And the scenery... literally 10 miles of nothing but awesome things to look at. We loved it!!

Great Hike! Awesome scenery, especially along the creek! Got some great pictures and an even better workout! Will definitely be going back in the future!
