A easy hike in the white sands. Very beautiful. Remember to take a sunglass as the white sands reflect the sunlight strongly.

Nice hike but on the high end of moderate. The last 1.5 Miles was walking a very loose and rocky dirt road of an abandoned house community. Looks like they got the roads and the fire hydrants put in but stopped. Now the roads are deteriorating to the point of difficult to walk down.

This trail has everything, great views, easy to follow, easy, moderate & challenging in different areas, lightly trafficked, just a really enjoyable trail to hike. I would suggest starting on T93 and then T92.

Started at T93 and the hike up was good. You will know when you start the steep assent up to the top. It can be steep at times but manageable. Once you make the top, the views are great. At the top, you will see the split where T93 crosses with T92. Once you start the steep descent down, it can be very rocky. The last 1.3 miles or so is basically a dirt road loaded with rocks of all shapes and sizes. Footing can be very unstable at times. That made the trail less enjoyable.

We really lucked out with just the right conditions to hike this trail. Recent rain had packed the sand making it easier to climb the dunes. It also cooled it off into the mid 80’s which seems quite unusual for July. We hiked later in the evening and arrived at the flats just before sunset. We climbed one of the last dunes, spread out a blanket, and enjoyed the sunset over the mountains and flats. After sunset, The was still plenty of residual light to make the trip back. My shoes kept filling with sand so I opted for walking this one barefoot. The damp sand was cool and quite pleasant on the feet.

Beautiful! Well marked.

Did this in reverse, making for the hardest climbs up front. Beautiful views continuously.

It's amazing that minutes from the village you can hop on this nice trail and be in the national Forest. It's a well marked trail with just the right amount of challenge for a family or "older" person.

This trail is wonderfully challenging and very picturesque. It was very overcast this morning and breezy but still quite toasty. Definitely bring plenty of water. Trail markers are frequent and I did not find an issue with finding my way. I used my hiking poles and they were very helpful in areas where the sand was difficult to trudge through. I'm definitely going to do this one again!

I grew up taking annual family hikes to Turkey creek in the early 80’s through 90’s. My last trip was 1998 to show it to my husband. It’s a very dry hot trip any later than early June and it’s extremely important to now put your head In the water or get it splashed in face or mouth due to bacteria in the water. Now that the kids are older I may just have to take them up the trail!

The road in is narrow and hard on your tires and 4wheel drive is definitely a good idea... although I did watch my uncle Clyde make it across the Gila 4 crossings in his Blue 1972 Mustang in 1985;) Definitely fond memories of this whole area!

We started this hike late in the afternoon with our 8 yr old and 4 pups. It was a moderate hike with some areas being a bit steep. Overall a great hike with some really nice views. Very few people on the trail which made this really nice and enjoyable. I would recommend using the map in the app because there are some areas where the trail splits. It took us a couple of hours but we took our time to enjoy everything.

Easy quick walk along a boardwalk through the dunes. Informational signs and dog friendly.

March is a good time of year to explore, as it isn't too hot yet and there aren't many people. Had a good time hiking through the dunes, just make sure to keep an eye on the trail markers.

We hiked this trail in June with temps in low 80s. It is indeed a mostly moderate trail but there are some very steep climbs and some of the terrain going down is steep and very rocky and slippery that are a bit challenging. Take a hiking stick for stability. We would not recommend taking your dog without some little dog booties due to the parts of rocky terrain. most of the hike is shaded and beautiful. We saw an elk and wild turkey. when you reach the top of the mountain, make sure you take the correct turn to go back. glad we had this app to help us ensure we were on the correct trail as we did make a wrong turn and had to double back. overall worth the hike.

Surreal hike through gypsum sand dunes. Extremely picturesque. We started at either 8 or 9a and finished it in about 3hrs. It's a really expose hike so wear sunblock and long sleeves if you can. It was pretty windy so it didn't feel too hot. But once the wind dies down it gets hot real quick. Bring lots of water and you'll be fine.

Nice hike, climbing up and down the soft sand dunes is like doing stair masters.
Don't forget sun lotion, water and good sunglasses.
Recommend to do it a dusk or dawn.

This was a GREAT exploration hike!!!
We had our 10, 7 & 4 yo and all had a great time. There was so much to look at along the way there was no need to hurry through the hike to the final destination. It truly was taking the time to play with the rocks, take some pics and find some lizards kind of hike.

Note:
If you like a min. peeps kind of hike this was great. We went Mem wkd and it was peaceful even with three kids.

Google maps wanted to take you through a private pasture. If you drive a bit further to Alma, take Mineral Creek Road; it’s a gravel road but it is by private land and not through it.

I just did this today and it was unreal. Definitely get there right when they open 1) not as hot and 2) you have a bit more solitude. Around 10 mins into the hike I realized that I could take my shoes off and jeez it made things a ton easier and way more comfortable. I brought like a half gallon of water and didn't even touch it until after the halfway point, however I don't think I would've brought any less considering how hot the sun got towards the end. Really makes you feel like you're the only one out in the desert, don't let the short distance fool you.

Very easy & accessible. Boardwalk all the way out & back. Some information boards. It's a beautiful place.

Nice introduction to the sand dunes, quick and easy.

Do not attempt this trail when the temperature is above 70°, ...you will melt! Take plenty of water and sunscreen.

For what it is, this is a cool trail. Very, very easy. There are educational signs along the way and once you learn what the different tracks in the sand are from, it's fun to search for them with kids. I took my 4 year old and she had fun. Words of warning - the boards are slick, so be careful if you have questionable tread on your shoes, and avoid using the hand rails as much as possible due to static electricity build up.

Beautiful hike, feels like you're on the moon... recommend taking some Gatorade or something similar to get you through it. Sun reflecting from all angles can take its toll on you. Lots of sunscreen!

Nice hike, but not the best of the park

We did a ‘baby equilateral triangle’, went in for about only 5 markers, then cut across to the other side of the trail, and walked out, for a total of 1.5 miles. Worked great with children. With a lot of exploration on the way, took about 1 hour. Saw a bleached earless lizard. The sand just beneath north slopes was very cool despite the air temperature being well above 80s.
