This place was totally and completely out of my way, but it was so worth it once I got here. The entire hike is stunning. Very few people hiking here in the winter so it felt like I had the place to myself!

Absolutely gorgeous hike! It was really snowy when I went, but the trails weren't too terrible with snowshoes. I would highly, highly, highly recommend this hike! It was one of the most stunning hikes. I brought my pup and she had a blast!

Great trail for a half-full day adventure the view at the top is so worth the trek. It may be a tough little hike for small kids, out of shape adults or those tourists coming from sea level so plan accordingly. I will do this one once a year now that I know its there.

One of my favorite trails that I've hiked. Weather was perfect when we started our hike and turned into sleet and snow when we made it to the lake. Prepare of all conditions in the spring and fall. We saw moose, deer and lots of little critters. There was very few people one the trail when we went and very peaceful.

Fun and beautiful hike in the snow! Highly recommend Katoolas during winter. There can be quite a bit of ice and slippery, packed snow. A pair of light weight poles may be a comfort for the narrow sections. I especially liked the waterfalls, the tunnel just past Box Canon, and constantly changing terrain. Fun!

We did this hike on 12/20 and there was a bit of snow/ice on the trail, but not on the majority and not slippery. Very few people on the trail this time of year. It's beautiful along the whole way.

Awesome views along a well maintained and varied trail. Falls were better than expected

Great hike with amazing views of the town below! Lots of trailheads, so it’s easy to get off whenever you need.

Did this finishing just before sunset and the views from the Knob were spectacular and better than the first viewpoint, although both are indeed great.

A fairly short/compact trail, this still packs in the sights, and it was nice to look over and see the Capitol Gorge trail from earlier in the day (nowhere near as good as this!).

Finished this up and down in 2h40 with two bars and no water. A few sips for getting down would have been nice, but the weather was not hot at all.

Be sure to go to the third lake lakes two and three are above tree line. Camp near lake one. Lake one to top of my snedfles is 8.5 mile and can take 8-10 hour if you go over the ridge and down.

Hiked up to the lower lake this past weekend. Microspikes were helpful. I wore gaiters, but my partner was fine with just waterproof pants. We continued on to the second lake with the goal of making it up the pass and encountered pretty deep snow. The trail was snowed over completely and there was a good amount of post-holing and route-navigation. A snowstorm began mid-way through our hike and continued for hours so I'd expect a lot more of the trail might be covered by now. Didn't see any other parties though.

I think the "Hard" rating is a bit generous unless you don't normally hike at this altitude and grade.

Beautiful trail but the beginning was not for people who are afraid of heights. I sadly have a fear of heights and found it very difficult. The part from the beautiful falls on was fantastic! I think it’s one of the prettiest hikes I’ve ever been on. We went in the summer.

We enjoyed this trail. Wonderful view at the end and a distant petroglyph in the middle.

Nice relaxing hike to the falls. Stayed cool the entire time, falls were beautiful. Not as pretty now that all the leaves have fallen from the trees.

Great easy hike for the family.
Deer In the valley and fish in the creek!
Great color on the walls with the afternoon sun.

Hiked on 11/3/18. This was an amazing trail that was 6.5 miles according to my girlfriend’s Garmin watch. It took us right under 3 hours while taking breaks at the nature guide spots. (Nature guide is found in brown sign in box 10/10 recommended picking one up as it points out many cool things). This hike was beautiful the entire way and had to stop many times just to take in the view. It was a very comfortable hike -warm in the sun, cool and refreshing in the shade (which there was a lot of). This all sand trail was easy to walk and came to a beautiful waterfall. Walk to the far right side of the waterfall to gaze at the hanging gardens, if you look closely you can see where the water is seeping from the rocks/ hanging gardens.

While in this region we combined Devils Garden (down Hole in the Rock Road - just drive down the road and can explore Devils Garden for as long as you want - we took 30 minutes there), and Grosvenor Arch (in Cannonville which is on the way to Calf Creek if coming from Kanab. Took 30 minutes to drive to off of the main road and 25 to explore - you can drive up to it)

This is a beautiful very busy trail after a long ride on Dallas Creek Road parking can be extremely difficult.

A rather easy hike to a very nice waterfall. There is also some Anasazi artwork along the way if you look out for it. There is a $5 fee to hike the trail, but it is worth the price. Good food can be found in nearby Boulder!

Hiked today, 10/29/18. Take county road 7 (Dallas creek) literally until it ends. Its a bit further than the directions tell you-- but no worries you get there. I started my hike at 9:45am and reached the second lake in 3 hours. Just about 2 miles in (around the Mt. Sneffels wilderness sign) I stopped and put on my micro spikes and gaiters. Gaiters weren't needed until the VERY end and spikes were hit or miss but it definitely made it much easier to maneuver.

I made it easily to the lower lake and it was GORGEOUS. I continued on upwards to the second lake and the views of the lower lake were incredible. The snow drift was quite strong and foot prints started to get scarce and it also felt like I was being pelted with small ice from the winds on the back side of the mountain. I looked at the second lake and it was 70% frozen over so I decided to turn back as I was hiking alone. It is definitely worth traveling up there for the views of the lower lake though! If you go that high definitely spikes and gaiters this time of year!

Definitely beautiful. I only saw 2 other hikers all day which was amazing =)

Absolutely beautiful. Challenging, breathtaking, perfect

Hiked on 10/27. Doable for sure but lots of snow— wish I would have had spikes but can be carefully done without. If you have gaiters use them. My feet were soaked.

I was plenty warm with a long sleeve and puffy vest.

The directions lead you to trailhead accurately.

I went on past ice lake but could not make it to island lake as the tracks stop right now due to snow.

I’m 34 and in good shape and it took me about 2:45 to get to ice lake. I also drank near 5L of water. Totally epic views if you follow tracks up about another 500-800 feet of vert— about 1/2 mile distance.

Breath-taking in more ways than one and our favorite hike on our honeymoon. The 'difficult' rating is no joke for low-elevation folk like we are, but it was worth the sweat. Above the treeline it's like Tolkien county, a different world than our Minnesota. We hiked on a Sunday in late September; we started early - around 7:30 - and only ran into a few other hikers. It was much busier on the descent.

perfect day for a perfect hike!!!!

This was a great hike , in the canyon along the brook reasonably flat , and ending with a spectacular waterfall. My wife and I waked this in and out with breaks for a total of 4 hours . We are both in good shape and I am 71 years old.
On the hike we saw deer , brook trout and what looked like mountain cat foot prints. This was a nice change from some of the more serious up hikes we had been doing

Stunning views and good reward for the effort. I would not do this hike in hot weather though.

Very well traveled with magnificent views

Lovely 1/4-1/2 day hike! We got caught in the rain on and off but had ponchos so no biggie. The falls are beautiful and the hanging gardens within them are really neat. Hiking shoes made it a pretty easy hike. No poles necessary IMO. Just take plenty of water and a snack!

Very nice hike with beautiful waterfall at the end!

Great hike. Beautiful scenery. Nice payoff at the end. Great for all ages. Some elevation changes but nothing too crazy.
