9:30. On a Saturday. Not very busy on the way down. A dozen people around the lakeshore. Saw 6 or 7 times as many on the way back up around 11:30.

Smoke obscured the view initially. Once we were about .25m down, the smoke thinned and we got to see some nice views. Worth the trip despite the smoke.

Very steep. All downhill on the way down and uphill on the way up. 7 year old held his own. Might be rough on families that don’t hike much and have small children.

Step but with the views. Get the boat to wizard island for an amazing day in the park.

absolutely amazing trail. went in August and the water was still flowing. the hike was beautiful. didn't see a soul the whole hike. huge recommendation from me for a short hike.

Beautiful hike, lots of wildlife along the way.

A must do for anyone hiking in or near Crater! Reserve your spot on the shuttle to Wizard Island (3 hour tour is cool). Big steep day, quick elevation change unexpectedly hit me at the summit, but it was also due to the smoke from fires. Jump in the cold clear lake near the docks, sun yourself & picnic til the shuttle returns. Prepare for your incline back out of this magical place. Plenty of benches to pause at on the way back up, take a breath and enjoy the scenery.

Easy easy easy...decent redwood action, weak waterfall

We returned this year and the hike down to Crater Lake was just as memorable, but also more crowded. We had absolutely perfect weather and the water was as blue as ever. We chose to drive around the lake rather than take the boat tour to Wizard Island. Suspect one day we'll do that too. Worth the half hour down and 45 minutes up. Enjoy!

Tamolitch Blue Pool 8/11/18

My group planned to arrive early to Blue Pool, but a fatality on Hwy 22 caused us to take a 2.5hr detour. We arrived way later than we wanted to. Parking was already out on the highway at 1:15pm. This hike is about 2 miles in and 2 miles out. It’s a fairly easy hike that is shaded most of the way. The scramble to get down to the Blue Pool is a bit trickier, but doable. Just take your time. We had a group of 10 and only 5 of us were brave enough to go into the 37 degree water. If you decide to go in or walk around barefoot, I highly recommend water shoes. The rocks were extremely painful on the souls of our feet. Lots of hornets by the water, so be careful. We only saw 2 people jump from the cliff. This is extremely dangerous as several people have died over the years. Since this was a warm August Saturday, it was crowded with hikers, mountain bikers, dogs and children. I definitely recommend going early, on a weekday or in the off-season. It was still a great hike with breathtaking views. The shades of blue are indescribable. There are restrooms at the trailhead of Blue Pool. Also, if this was too short of a hike for you, definitely piggyback Koosah Falls or Sahalie Falls with this one. We would have, but with our unexpected detour, we ran out of time and needed to make the long trek home. Happy Hiking!

Short trail with lots of switchbacks, it’s shaded and has benches along the way. Very well maintained and is the only trail that takes you to the water

Best friend and I did this in the cold of winter. Well worth it even during the cold. We went off the path and made our way around the pool. Absolutely beautiful.

This is an amazing site! Expect it to be really crowded but the pool is worth seeing! Also don’t expect to swim much, there’s a reason why all the pictures don’t have people in them! The water is almost ice. Pretty easy hike in! Follow all our adventures on Instagram @themicrotourists!

Great easy and comfortable hike on a very well maintained trail. Great trail for company who is not acclimated but wants a big payoff for the effort. The water was very cold but not unbearable and the hike down was not as bad as some post made it seem. Go around to the opposite side and the trail is very user friendly. The anticipation of the water is worse than the water itself. Very enjoyable, casual and non-taxing.

Quick hour-total hike to the only point to access the waters of Crater Lake. Thankfully, the smoke from the nearby wildfires blew in a different direction thanks to a shift in the winds so it wasn’t nearly as smoky as was the past couple days. Going down was easy but just remember you have to go back up!

A beautiful hike! My wife and I carried our lunch in our packs, and ate just after we got to the falls; an easy hike at that point. We decided to finish the entire 2.5 mile loop. Be warned! The last 2/3 of the hike is much more difficult, and--VERY important-- there is NO cell phone coverage in the area. I would upgrade this hike to above moderate for the entire loop; fairly easy for the hike to the falls. The Redwoods are spectacular, (better than LBJ Grove)! Oh yeah, I did not see even one Trillium; they must bloom at a different time of the year.

Well defined trail to the pool but more difficult to get down to the water. Totally worth the hike down.

Just stunning. Easy trail through beautiful trees and along the McKenzie River. I prefer the early hike. This one gets busy.

There was no sign on the fork & we didn't think of getting a map before we started so we took the trail on the left & apparently it was the more difficult one. About 3.5 miles in we saw a black bear near the trail ahead of us so we ended up having to walk back in fear & in silence without even seeing the waterfall. I've never walked so fast in my life. It was a great workout, but the trail could use some maintance.

Nice trail. Went around 6pm. Was greeted in the end by a little brown bear. Really scary when hiking alone. But I calmly walked by and it didn’t come towards me. I was by bridge view the elk.

Unbelievable, great hike , beautiful river view most of the way

This is a well done trail and is exactly how it's described. It is strenuous especially on the way back up. It is not meant for elderly or unprepared. We did the boat tour to Wizard Island which was awesome.

Beautiful hike! The waterfall is very small but there are endless blackberries!

This trail wasn't worth the effort. It's long, hot and honestly not that pretty (like some of the women from my past). The trail is not well maintained, lots of plant life growing into the walking path you can't avoid walking through, a fallen tree you have to climb over. If you are with a lady in booty shorts, she won’t like it and will keep telling you how much she dislikes it, trust me I know. There's one good look out point where you can see the waterfall but you're not very close to it. Other than that spot you can't ever really see it. When you get to the top of the waterfall the angle is bad and you can't actually see the bottom or the water go off the cliff. I will say the water at the top is nice, clear and refreshing to get in. If you like pain with no payoff, this is for you, you masochist.

The hike was well worth seeing the beautiful blue pool at the end of the trail - especially for a couple of out of shape people like ourselves.

Beautiful hike. The beginning was fairly easy. It gets harder as you get in the lava beds. The scramble down to the pool (if you choose to do it) is steep, so be careful! The water is freezing cold, but feels nice on feet after the hike there. Also, be aware of yellow jacket nests. We found a few along the way. We discovered one as we stepped to the side to let others pass by. We only noticed it as several in our group were stung.

Great hike ! We went yesterday which was a 90 degree day, so this was not easy and to get down to the water was somewhat confusing! Many rocks so please wear great shoes !

Short but steep hike to the shore and back. A good way to jump in and swim in the lake.

Very well maintained and easy to walk on trail. Yes, it's all up/down but it's short and very well maintained and wide. My 8 year old couldn't get enough of the big rock that everyone jumped off of... He loved it!

Trail was short but steep. However, there are fires in Oregon right now and the area is very smoky. Visibility is limited. Views were still good at the bottom of the hike, but lake views from the top were almost impossible to see. Good quick workout though, may be back to this park at some point in the future.
