Striking views of shear rock faces, a true mountain lake

$11 day use fee, there are better places in the area with no fee and less crowded. The sign said something ambiguous about there being no fee during winter, so I watched a few others drive in without paying and assumed it must be winter. Trail was icy, used yaktrax. Snow was deep past Isabelle lake. I think you can park back a couple miles from the long lake TH and walk in for free.

Steady climb. The views half-way up exceeded the actual lake view, but it was a nice hike with some icy stairs.

It's a pretty trail that I'm sure is nicer during the summer months. More than half the trail is now iced over towards the higher elevation. Made for an interesting trip up and down. Once you arrive, its very nice view but I'm partial to others in RMNP like Sky Pond, Emerald, etc. PS: The actual hike is more like 4 miles each way if my Suunto is correct.

This was a beautiful hike with varying difficulty in the trail throughout and lots of beautiful views along the way. we didn't make it to glacier lake but lake Isabelle was great!

Enjoyable shortish day hike. Lake is SMALL. Views back over Estes Park and of RMNP and great!

Great time hiking, camping, and fishing. Can get crowded during the summer but the father out you get, the less people you run in to.

This is a beautiful hike. It is flat to start out and then it eventually gains. The weather was beautiful and we went at a nice pace. Some in our party saw some bull and cow elk by the pond on the way to Cub Lake. The burned area is a contrast and is interesting in its own right. We could see a lot of new vegetation in the burn area. I like looking across the canyon to the sheer rock faces on the north side.

Did this trail a few days ago. Nice, easy trail. Got out there around 9a. Not too many people out there. Came across elk out in the Meadows. Trail is easy to follow. Four stars because unfortunately it's through an area hit with fire. Lots of dead trees :(

We do a lot of hiking in Colorado, and for my entire family this is our favorite. It is extremely easy, and just shockingly beautiful the entire way. I can't think of a better place for a hike. We went on a Wednesday, arrived at the park about 7:05 in the morning, and there were only two parking places left. Arriving early and bug spray are both a must!

I was here Sept 24th and started at Brainard Lake and made my way a little passed Long lake before turning back. It was Chilly and windy at Brainard and once I got up to around Long lake it was Raining with some Snow mixed in so make sure you dress in appropriate Clothing and wear layers. It was a Monday when I was there and Only a Few Cars in the parking lot. Beautiful & short hike that I will definitely be back to do again!!!

Great trail, plenty of wildlife and awesome views!!

Beautiful hike! We got to the trailhead at 8 a.m. and we were the 4th car in the lot and pretty much had the trail to ourselves. The first two miles are very easy with minimal elevation gain and smoother trails. Miles 3 & 4 were a constant climb at a moderate rate. The trail got rockier so I’d recommend good shoes, they were very slick when wet. The fall colors were still very vivid today. After 11a, the trail got significantly more crowded and all of the lots were full, so be sure to get there early if you don’t want to add additional miles to your hike. The waterfall is one of the best I’ve seen so far, and the lake was barely visible through the fog but still worth the climb!

Incredible views. Bring layers. Very windy by the lake

We drove to the small parking lot by the falls. Very short hike but it is steep. That being said I saw an 80 year old man in his orthotics making the trek. The falls are beautiful! Old Fall river Road is about 9 miles and is a one way road. It has sharp switchbacks and very deep ruts. I mean DEEP. If you are skilled enough to navigate on top of the ruts a car could make it but if not you will bottom it out and be stuck. The SUV in front of me actually attempted to drive in the ruts instead of on top and bottomed out immediately. Luckily he drove in instead of falling in so was able to spin his tires and back out and attempt again. If you don't want to risk it park at the picnic area and hike up.

Very short hike. The falls are beautiful. There were a handful of people walking and climbing all over the rocks. Definitely worth the hike.

Took the shuttle from the park and ride to the Glacier Gorge trailhead then up to the falls. The hike was good not too difficult. There were a handful of people on the trail then lots at the falls. Several people taking family photos and others having picnics.

Easy out and back hike that takes about 2-3 hours. Lots of shaded areas and stairs. Paul Bunyan’s boot can be found along the way. The lake itself is more like a dirty pond. Recommend going early to avoid the traffic and if you’re able to climb up a bit you can get a spectacular view on calm mornings.

65 y.o. husband and I took our chubby selves up this hill today. it was fairly hard for us, coming from flatter land and having spent NO time on the stairmaster. the views we're beautiful and gem lake was pretty ( though in Minnesota we have "real" lakes and this would be a large puddle). we like rocks and geology so enjoyed the entire walk. trail was busy though nothing compared to Zion, Bryce, Moab, etc. the sprinkling of Aspen gold was also gorgeous.

Easy hike and busy on a Sat. Beautiful lake at the golden hour! Chilly at the top so bring layers.

So pretty the entire time!! Dog friendly & everyone had their dogs on a leash. Very appreciative of this.

This was a great, short hike with lots of shade. I would definitely recommend hiking early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The fall foliage was so beautiful on the way up to the lake!

It’s a great hike with a nice goal and view - really moderate and nice to do if you arrive late to the park one day.

Journey better than the destination. Many well shaded areas with lots of spattered rock formations throughout the trail. Nice fall foilage/aspens midway to 2/3rds up. Then quite a few big steps to final lake/pond. Yes the pond is small, but it has a neat wall of rock around it. Also several openings between trees and rocks with nice views below.

This is one of my least favorite hikes in the park. They’re all so gorgeous & the falls are a little underwhelming in comparison

Keep hiking to lake Isabelle if you’ve got time!

Not much water, but easily one of my favorite hikes in Colorado. Keep hiking up to Isabelle Glacier if you’ve got it in ya

Hiked to Alberta Falls from Bear Lake. Very well maintained trail. The falls themselves were decent. Continued on to Loch Vale and Timberline Falls afterwards.

It was a beautiful hike! Great pics. Very windy for an added chill but felt great. Fall colors starting. Would do it again.

Very easy trail, a few steep-ish climbs right before the lake. A lot of bang for your effort with fantastic views at the end. The lake is currently low due to the drought, but still an amazing sight. Watch for moose, as a bull lives here with his family - I actually saw the bull chase away some idiots with their unleashed dog.
