Amazing! Beautiful hike with a great variety of scenery. Fairly tough incline throughout, but manageable if you pace yourself, and is worth it for the amazing views at the top.

Good hike and the views at top are well worth the effort. our first in RMNP and looking forward already to a few more this week.

We loved this trail! Although the bottom sections are pretty easy, the views are good, and just get better as you rise. It has a nice variety along the trail, and the top is just breathtaking.

Beautiful views.

This was such a good sunrise hike. We had a very large group but everyone was able to make it up and down the scramble at the lake. If you’re not in great shape, the elevation gain will be challenging especially getting closer to the top. It was also super windy for us and I felt that I was going to be pushed over the edge into the gorges below us (it was also really dark too).

First off I would rate this as moderately hard haha. Only because of the elevation gain. The scramble at the end up to see the lake isn’t bad either and definitely worth it ! Lovely spot to rest and take in the beauty of the mountains and the crystal lake . Absolutely gorgeous .

Great payoff for the miles and gain, would do again!

Great trail. We hiked in and camped at Lawn Lake Campground. Had the lake to ourselves. Didn’t see many hikers on this hike because of the length. It’s a tough hike if you’re not acclimated. The breathing gets harder at 11,000 ft. Approx 18 Long switchbacks up. The elevation gain is rapid and rocky. Overall, it was amazing and a breathtaking adventure.

Did this trail on September 7 at a moderate pace with a group of hikers. There are great views of the surrounding mountains at various lookouts along the way. The upper reaches featured beautiful Aspen turning gold for Fall. The top of the mountain provides a great view of Estes Park as well as several mountains. Not too crowded this time of year. Definitely one to repeat in the early Fall.

This is so worth the hike. The lake is pretty and the view from the top looking down to the lake was awesome. The first part goes through the forest and I almost thought there isn’t much to see but as you gain elevation, it gets prettier and prettier. A little windy on the top. Don’t forget your wind jacket.

I had a great time on my trip to Chasm Lake, the views are remarkable and everyone I met along the way couldn’t help but gush about how unreal it is. My trekking poles helped me out a lot on the way back down, as did my headlamp - just keep your eyes peeled, I had a nice little run-in with a baby brown bear and had no intention of waiting around for it’s momma! Enjoy

In my mind this qualifies more as a climb than a hike. Very strenous. the first part of the hike to the tundra is like a staircase with steps created from logs and rock. These steps can be couple feet high and it is interesting to see how people have created mini diversions around the steps. Be prepared for a very tough day and try to avoid weekends. Gets very crowded.

Terrific hike. Best I've done in the RMNP area. Not too strenuous on this longish trail, so you can get the distance in, which makes it a real hike. Once you get away from the half milers as I call them the trail is very quiet. Rewarded with views as soon as trail starts and this continues. Even in wooded areas everything seems open and light. Go for it you won't be sorry.

Trail starts off dull and ends up being one of the most beautiful hikes going through rocky trails, to trees and ending with a stairway that may lead to heaven.

We hiked this trail this morning arriving around 8 am and came down just prior to noon. The trail is wide and well used. There are a number of switchbacks. People going before us have chosen to cut corners on the switchbacks which are very bad trail manners. We met 2 couple on the trail that had lost their way by following some of the corners. Please do not cut corners on switchbacks. The trails are built at a nominal 3% grade to save the trail from excessive erosion. Cutting corners destroy!. The trail provides spectacular views in all directions particularly up the top. Please be aware that the saddle between the two peaks is deceiving to some as it is all sand and it looks like the trail goes in many directions. Pay attention. The aspen were in full color at the top which provided very nice picture backgrounds.

Trail was well kept until the last mile to the lake. Trail was not well marked and had to traverse rock field the entire time. But the view was worth it.

Did this on a Tuesday and loved it. The trail wasn’t crowded at all and we were able to park easily around 7 AM. Did get a little hail on the way back so watch the weather and come prepared with rain jacket and hat/gloves. Trail is really nicely maintained and the elevation gain is spread out mostly over the forest section and a long stretch of tundra. The scramble to the lake itself isn’t well marked at all but there are a few ways to go about it and no real danger of hurting yourself if you go wrong and need to double back. Lake is beautiful. Watch out for marmots and pika trying to get your snacks! Trekking poles were majorly helpful getting back down.

Hiked this trail with my husband, 12yo, 6yo & 3yo (the 3yo hiked- was not carried) on Labor Day.
This hike was impromptu so we started around 1130am.
A number of other groups but it wasn’t crowded. Plenty of time on the trail by ourselves.
It was a nice workout hike for us.

Tough incline. Steep rock scrambling at the end to get to the lake, but you are rewarded with gorgeous views. The way down is no picnic, most of the way is covered in large rocks.

Great hike, elevation climb is pretty intense. Small amount of rock climbing to get to the lake. All worth it, beautiful scenery

I did this hike on July 1 and it was totally worth it. It’s a nice 3.5 hour round-trip if you go at a good pace. Absolutely amazing views at the top. The right turn at the end is further than you would think. Keep going until you see the sign, then turn right and the summit is near. I went through 2 L of water.

Great hike with beautiful views!

Great hike although a little challenging for my kids but they really enjoyed it. Great views all the way up and spectacular view at the top.

Beautiful Hike. 3 waterfalls along the way.

I took a group of people on this hike yesterday. It is a wonderful hike! We enjoyed it. One thing we noticed, is that people need to stop taking short cuts between the switchbacks. It creates erosion and not good for the terrain. The only other thing I have to add.... there is actually 16 switchbacks. LOL Enjoy the view at the top!

Great (and challenging for us midwesterners) trail! Pay attention to the trail map before you go; we missed a sharp u-turn where the switch backs first started and ended up on a smaller, more difficult trail. We were able to back track to the right spot. That got us off schedule, so we unfortunately had to turn back before the epic views at thw top. Epic views the whole way though! Take lots of breaks and lots of water (especially if you're novices like us). Have fun and take it all in! it took us about 4 hours with our detour.

I hiked this trail past Lawn Lake up to Crystal Lake on 8/25 and really enjoyed it. It was by far the least crowded trail I've hiked in the park which was a really nice change of pace, I only saw maybe 5 people on the way up. It's an incline the whole way but it never gets very steep up you're past Lawn Lake. The views were great and both lakes were amazing. I'll be doing this one again, ideally camping at Lawn Lake.
